Motorola Droid RAZR HD makes another cameo, shows its global creds

Welcome to yet another episode in the Droid RAZR HD‘s ongoing leak to market. The global variant of Motorola’s flagship handset — which is expected to supersede the Atrix HD and inevitably land on Verizon real-soon-now — just made an appearance on xda-developers. What’s new? It appears this phone is being tested on Vodafone and supposedly features an eight-megapixel camera (down from the rumored 13 MP). As a refresher, the Droid RAZR HD is slated to run Ice Cream Sandwich on a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and boast a 720p HD display (likely 4.5-inches across). There’s still no official word from Motorola, but we’ll keep you posted as we find out more. In the meantime, take a look at the gallery below.

Fujifilm sues Motorola over broad camera and phone patents, claims RAZRs and Xyboards are at fault

Motorola RAZR MAXX review

Motorola won’t have had much of a break following the dismissal of a key Apple lawsuit, after all. In a low-profile move, Fujifilm has sued Motorola for allegedly violating four particularly broad patents on camera and phone technologies — we’re talking basics such as transmitting data outside of a cellular network. The camera designer has supposedly been pushing for a licensing deal since April of last year without much success, and it’s asserting that “at least” a wide swath of Motorola devices released both before and after that time are the key offenders, including the RAZR MAXX and Xyboard lines. The complaint is scarcely into the docket and makes it difficult to gauge just what kind of chance Fujifilm has to win in court; we just know that Motorola’s (and now Google’s) patent lawsuit headache is developing into more of a migraine.

Motorola announces RAZR V for Canada

Motorola may have announced the Atrix HD for the United States, but it’s also bringing another phone to the Canadian market, the RAZR V. It looks fairly similar to the original RAZR, but has seen a slight redesign. Motorola say the RAZR V is 8.4mm thick and features the same Kevlar back, and the company is quick to point out the numerous software enhancements it has added on top of Android.

The handset will feature the same 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 4.3-inch qHD AMOLED display (dubbed ColorBoost in the PR), and the 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording makes a return. A microSD card slot is present for cards up to 32GB, and HSDPA, WiFi b/g/n, and Bluetooth radios are all onboard. The RAZR V will be running Ice Cream Sandwich when it ships, along with Motorola’s software customizations.

Those include Smart Actions, which allows you to personalize the phone and perform certain functions when triggers are activated, and a Battery Extender that turns off non-critical functions when you’re starting to run low on juice. Motorola says the phone should be available in Q3 from Bell Mobility, Best Buy, Future Shop, Tbooth Wireless, The Mobile Shop, The Source, Videotron, Virgin Mobile, WIND Mobile, and WIRELESSWAVE. There’s no word on pricing yet, however.
