Fast Food Restaurants Were Supposed To Be Completely Automated by Now

In the 1989 movie Back to the Future Part II, the food of 2015 looks incredibly familiar — it’s just prepared a bit differently. Toss a miniature Pizza Hut pizza onto a pan, stick it into your Black & Decker Hydrator, tell the machine how you want it cooked, and three seconds later your pizza is ready. The appliance even slices it for you.

RoboEarth Is A WWW For Robots

RoboEarth Is A WWW For RobotsDo you fear that as more and more robots enter service to make our lives easier, the day might actually come when they become self-aware, and a scenario like Skynet’s rampage across the human race might actually play out in real life? I suppose that is the worst case scenario, but at the moment, such a day does not look as though it is likely to happen. In fact, we are making allowances for robots to be able to learn even better. Case in point, RoboEarth has been introduced, where it is touted to be a world wide web for robots to learn from each other as well as share information among one another.

Startup Company Uses Drones To Fend Of Poachers

Startup Company Uses Drones To Fend Of PoachersDrones, for the most part, have been thought of as instruments for spying and war, but they can be used for many different things as well, such as delivery of goods which is what Amazon had in mind, and they can also be used for good as well, which is what a startup company has done when they have designed drones meant to protect endangered animals from poachers. Let’s face it, animals in the wild are being hunted for all sorts of reasons. For food, for sport, for money, etc., which is why San Francisco startup Airware have announced that they have successfully managed to run a field trial at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya in which their drones have been used to protect endangered black and white rhinos from poachers.

Basically what the drones do is that they can cover the air which provides for a wider viewing angle, compared to more traditional patrolling methods which involves driving around in a jeep. The drones are equipped with infrared cameras for nighttime videos and electro-optical cameras during the day, which allows them to spot poachers from far off distances, such as the camp fire of a poacher, for example. The trial has been met with success and the conservancy appears to be pleased by their efforts, so with that being said, could this usher in a new era of anti-poaching methods?

A Face-Tracking Marshmallow Cannon Aims Straight For Your Mouth

A Face-Tracking Marshmallow Cannon Aims Straight For Your Mouth

Normally, you wouldn’t want to have a cannon aimed at your face, much less a cannon that can see your face and follow it around. But a team of mechanical and electrical engineering students at Olin College decided to challenge that notion with their marshmallow-firing Confectionary Cannon. It’s worth getting in this sucker’s sights.

Monsieur Bartender Is A Machine That Serves You Your Favorite Drinks

Monsieur Bartender Is A Machine That Serves You Your Favorite DrinksParties are fun, especially if you are one who loves to meet people. The thing about parties is this – you need fantastic music as well as a decent supply of booze to keep the people happy, and at times, waiting at the bar could prove to be an exceptionally long moment before your order is fulfilled. How about solving this shortage of momentary manpower with the help of a robot? This is where the Monsieur Bartender robot comes in handy, where it comes in a boxy tabletop form factor that functions as a vending machine – albeit serving up cocktails instead of Coke or Pepsi.

All you need to do is to key in your order on a colorful touchscreen display or place an order from your phone, and the Monsieur Bartender will get to work right away, blending liquor with mixers and letting the contents settle into a cup. A fully equipped Monsieur Bartender has the capability to make up to 300 types of drinks. Not only that, the Monsieur Bartender will not take up too much space, measuring a mere 20” in height and 21” wide, sporting a color Android touchscreen display so that you can check out the potential drinks from up to eight mixers and liquors.

    Burritobox Launches Burrito-Making Robots

Burritobox Launches Burrito Making RobotsHow does having robots make your lunch for you sound? One thing is for sure though, you will eliminate some of the possible hygiene issues such as a worker who had just scratched the crack of his rear end before fulfilling your order, or perhaps found some bit of ‘irritants’ in his nose with his pinky prior. Well, Burritobox has jumped aboard the robotic bandwagon by launching the first burrito-making robots ever at a couple of locations on Santa Monica Boulevard, where they are within Mobile and 76 gas stations.

This orange Burritobox will be able to churn out half a dozen types of burrito, where among them include a breakfast burrito, and several sauces. The customer will first need to select the burrito desired, as well as the kind of sauces that they would like from a touch-screen menu, before paying with a credit card. It takes a minute or so for the robot to roll out a piping hot “hand”-rolled burrito. Sure, it lacks the human touch right from the get go, but if you are always in a rush and cannot be bothered to carry out a conversation with other humans during your daily morning commute, what difference is there anyways?
