Rockstar Teases Upcoming GTA 5 Update

Rockstar Teases Upcoming GTA 5 UpdateGood news GTA 5 fans, if you guys have already completed the game or are looking forward to additional content, you might recall that Rockstar has promised gamers that a DLC would be making its way to the game in the near future, one that adds an “exciting story mode” to the game. Last we heard, there were rumors about its content, and how it could feature things like casinos, dirt racing, and even the very PETA-unfriendly shark shooting. While it remains to be seen what sort of features we might be able to expect, Rockstar has since posted on its blog a short tease on what to expect.

According to their blog, “GTAV Story Mode Updates. For those ready to jump back into the story of Grand Theft Auto V, we have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor’s action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas.” Rockstar has also revealed some more information about GTA Online, such as the Heists mode, which Rockstar has stated is still in development and will most likely see a release in 2014 as well. So, who else is looking forward to both GTA Online and GTA 5 updates?

GTA: San Andreas For iOS, Android And More Launches Next Month

GTA: San Andreas For iOS, Android And More Launches Next Month

Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto titles are quite popular to say the least. The most recent title, GTA V, has already passed the $1 billion milestone and continues to perform well. During the PS2 era, one of the most popular games was GTA: San Andreas, the early 90s where CJ and the Grove Street Families went about creating mayhem and mischief. Rockstar has announced today that in December it is going to release Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on iOS, Android and other mobile devices.

The title has been upgraded for its mobile release and it encompasses everything from San Fierro, Las Venturas and Los Santos. It comes with newly remastered graphics which includes detailed and dynamic shadows, enriched color palette and a greater draw distance. Character and car models have also been enhanced, making it the “best-looking version of San Andreas yet,” says Rockstar. There will be three different control schemes for driving and maneuvering, and a reworked checkpoint system for the casual gamer. The game comes with new touch controls including contexual controls which only show up when the user needs them. It will have full support for controllers, including the iOS 7 exclusive ones launched recently by MOGA and Logitech. GTA: San Andreas will be released for select iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle and Windows Phone devices next month.

Rockstar Trademarks New Bully Title In Europe

Rockstar Trademarks New Bully Title In EuropeFor those unfamiliar, Bully was a game released by Rockstar back in 2005 and has been pretty well received due to its unique gameplay. The game saw a re-release for the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360 in 2008, but we haven’t really heard about the franchise since, although back in 2011 it was stated that a sequel was in the cards, but not confirmed. Well it looks like things could be well on their way thanks to the folks at Junkie Monkeys who discovered a trademark by Rockstar that was registered in November for the title, “Bully Bullworth Academy: Canis Canem Edit”.

Of course there’s always the possibility that this could be Rockstar trying to protect their brand and franchise, although like we said, it was in 2011 that a sequel was said to be in the cards, so it wouldn’t be a complete surprise if Rockstar had begun working on something from 2011 until 2013. It has also been discovered on the CVs of developers working at Rockstar that they are working on a big title that is supposedly based on an existing franchise, and while Bully is a possibility, some are thinking it could be Red Dead Redemption, but what do you guys think? Which title are you more looking forward to?

Alec Baldwin Refused To Lend His Voice In Grand Theft Auto

Alec Baldwin Refused To Lend His Voice In Grand Theft Auto

Its not unusual for Hollywood stars to lend their voices in video games, particularly insanely popular video games such as Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series. Stars such as Ray Liotta and Samuel L. Jackson have voiced characters in the game before, and apparently Alec Baldwin was given the chance to join that distinguished list a few years ago, but he turned the offer down. Baldwin, of 30 Rock fame, made the revelation while talking with Indiewire.

Baldwin revealed that many years ago, he was approached by “the makers of Grand Theft Auto” to lend his voice to a mobster in the game, presumably for Grand Theft Auto 2. He says that he was offered an “incomprehensible amount of money” just for a day or two’s work. Seems like he really was offered a lot of money, because Baldwin regards the offer multiple times as “pile of money” and “ridiculous amount of money.” However, he chose not to do it because the mobster character was a cop killer, and he had issues with that. Baldwin says that he refused to do the job because of his reputation, adding that he already has “enough problems with the press as it is.” Sucks for Baldwin fans though, doesn’t it? They probably would have loved to see him channel Jack Donaghy as a mobster.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Has Shipped 29 Million Copies To Date

Grand Theft Auto 5 Has Shipped 29 Million Copies To DateWhen it comes to highly-anticipated games of 2013, Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V is probably high up there on the list. While Rockstar did run into slight issues with GTA Online, it did not detract from the overall experience and has been met with glowing reviews. The game has also managed to break several records and achieved some pretty insane sales figures so far, but if you’re wondering how well the game has done for itself about a month after its launch, Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company, has revealed that GTA 5 has managed to ship 29 million units to retailers to date.

According to Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, “The title received stellar reviews, shattered entertainment industry records, and has already sold-in nearly 29 million units to date. The extraordinary success of Grand Theft Auto V illustrates the positive momentum in our business and consumers’ enduring appetite for the highest-quality interactive entertainment.” The game managed to net a whopping $1 billion in three days from its launch, breaking the previous record which was held by Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Will GTA 5 be able to hold onto the crown especially with Call of Duty: Ghosts set for release soon? We guess we will have to wait and see, but for things are looking good.

Grand Theft Auto Online Stimulus Package delayed: more work needs doing

There’s little doubt now that the folks behind the scenes at the servers keeping up Grand Theft Auto Online are not having a great couple of weeks.
