Rockstar reveals new GTA Online details prior to next week’s roll out

Rockstar

Ahead of next week’s GTA Online launch, developer Rockstar Games took to its blog to outline what to expect come October 1st. The post goes to great lengths to establish that the entire experience is free — unless you want to buy in-game currency with real money — and incredibly you-centric. Feedback you provide by emailing or posting on the official forums will help shape the game. Where you spend your time and what you end up doing (Sports! Heists! Chaos!) in San Andreas will affect the direction the developers take with future content and how they tune the overall experience. However, while the entry answers a few questions it also creates some new ones. Specifically, we’re curious about the company’s use of “roll out” to describe GTA:O‘s release. An incremental approach is probably best considering the game’s current server strains, but we’re sure that’s not what its some 16.5 million players will want to hear.

Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack appears on iTunes and Google Play

This is otherwise known as GTA Radio, having become a rather interesting side-project and powerful result of […]

Grand Theft Auto V lays claim to “fastest to $1 billion” sales crown

Suggesting that they’ve attained the honor of becoming the fastest entertainment property in history to achieve worldwide retail sales of $1 billion dollars, GTA V sets itself up against not only other video games, but feature films as well. Though it’s not the same industry save its ability to entertain, it is entertaining (perhaps ironically), […]

GTA 5 Earns $1 Billion In Three Days

GTA 5 Earns $1 Billion In Three Days

The most hotly anticipated console game of this season is without a doubt Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5. Only yesterday we reported that GTA 5 had earned a staggering $800 million on the first day alone. This incredible feat made it the fastest selling video game around the world. The game has smashed yet another record, it is now the fastest title to earn $1 billion. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 holds the previous record, it crossed the billion market 15 days after its release. GTA 5 has done it in  just three days.

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of Grand Theft Auto 5, made this announcement today through an official statement, though it hasn’t revealed exactly how many copies have been sold. GTA 5 is currently only available on PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, though a petition to have it brought over to the PC is quickly gaining steam. Take-Two believes that this is “the fastest that any entertainment property, including video games and feature films, has reached this significant milestone.” It goes without saying that GTA 5 will bring in a lot of money, the initial launch frenzy may have died down but the game is going to continue selling like hot cakes. Lets see how long it takes Grand Theft Auto 5 to rake another billion dollars.

No New GTA London Planned For The Moment

No New GTA London Planned For The MomentIf you have ever played the older versions of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto way back in the day, you might recall the London expansion pack that would basically be Grand Theft Auto, except that it takes place in London. It was a novel idea and we’re sure many gamers got a kick out of it, but unfortunately if you were hoping that Rockstar do something similar again, except with Grand Theft Auto 5 graphics, you’d be out of luck. According to Rockstar’s Dan Houser, a new GTA London game would be very unlikely, although London is definitely a place the developers would like to revisit in the future for a different franchise.

Speaking to the Guardian, “I think for us, my gut feeling is, GTA London was cool for the time, but games were more limited then […] These days I think we would love to set a game in the UK, set in London, whatever, but I don’t know if it would be a GTA game. I think there are plenty of great stories we could tell about the UK, great environments to showcase, great gameplay mechanics that could have a UK bent to them–I just don’t think it would be a GTA necessarily.” What do you guys think? What other countries would you like to see the GTA franchise try to emulate?

Grand Theft Auto 5 Pulls In An Amazing $800 Million In 24 Hours

Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most anticipated games of 2013 and undoubtedly will bring in a lot of sales for the developer, but exactly how much? Well according to Take-TwoGrand Theft Auto 5 Pulls In An Amazing $800 Million In 24 Hours, the company managed to pull in a whopping $800 million in 24 hours, making this the most successful Grand Theft Auto game to date (as far as first day sales are concerned, gameplay and feedback could be a different story).

According to Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, “All of us at Take-Two are thrilled with the initial response to Grand Theft Auto V. Once again, the team at Rockstar Games have outdone themselves, setting the entertainment industry’s new standard for creativity, innovation and excellence.”

While the company probably has other expenses and bills they need to pay, the $800 million in sales has probably allowed the company to at least recover the cost of making the game, which according to earlier reports had it pegged at $265 million, making it one of the most expensive video games made to date. So, who else got their hands on Grand Theft Auto 5 when it was released?
