GTA 5 companion apps offer custom rides, virtual pooches, interactive maps

DNP Grand Theft Auto V companion apps offer pimped rides, virtual pooches, interactive maps

Need something to pass the time tonight while waiting for Grand Theft Auto 5? Developer Rockstar Games has you covered with a pair of free companion apps for its latest crime sim. The iFruit mobile app features two distinct portions with direct ties to your virtual criminal career, allowing you to customize your ride and train protagonist Franklin’s rottweiler. Los Santos Customs lets you get crazy under the hood and in the body shop, tinkering with your ride until it’s just right for either GTA5 or GTA: Online. Treat Franklin’s dog Chop well enough in the pet trainer Chop the Dog, and he’ll find hidden in-game loot for you. The iFruit app is iOS-only for now, but flavors for Android, Windows Phone and even PlayStation Vita are en route.

There’s also an e-version of the game’s manual, because Rockstar apparently couldn’t squeeze the full 100 page-plus tome into print for the retail box. What’s more, it features an interactive map, and is available now on the App Store and as a desktop app — an Android version is “coming soon.” Midnight doesn’t seem so far away now, does it?

Rockstar has now officially released the app. Its called iFruit, basically it provides users with another way of experiencing GTA 5 even when they’re not playing the game on a console. The app can be used to tend to Franklin’s canine sidekick, Chop, as well as to customize vehicles that users drive in the actual game. iFruit will also provide users with the latest GTA 5 related news, keep them connected to parody social network LifeInvader and other Rockstar Games apps, and will also allow them to log into Rockstar Games Social Club.

Don’t Install GTA 5 ‘Play’ Disc On Xbox 360, Rockstar Advises

Dont Install GTA 5 Play Disc On Xbox 360, Rockstar Advises

GTA 5 for Xbox 360 comes on two discs. It is mandatory load up the “install” disc on the console’s hard drive, and while there’s nothing stopping gamers from installing the second “play” disc on their console’s hard drive, Rockstar advises that they don’t do that. Rockstar made this recommendation through a tweet, telling users that they shouldn’t install the second disc “for optimal performance.”

The installation of the first disk will take up 7.7GB on Xbox 360′s HDD, the “play” disc will take up an additional 7.8GB of storage if it is installed on the HDD as well. Apparently doing this will affect GTA 5′s ability to stream texture data. It is said that running both DVD and HDD assets from one source, the HDD, is likely to slow access times which may in turn impact streaming performance. The isn’t something that breaks the game, however it will be irritating for the gamer when the game isn’t able to stream objects and textures properly. There’s an obvious advantage of loading everything up on the HDD, no disc will mean no fan noise, unfortunately gamers will have to choose between sound or less than perfect visuals for now. GTA 5 isn’t available for digital delivery on Xbox 360, it remains to be seen if such an issue will be witnessed on PS3, for which the game is going to be available as a digital download from PSN. GTA V hits homes early while Microsoft bans spoiler consoles

Two things are happening this week in the world of Grand Theft Auto 5: one includes Amazon UK sending out copies of the game early, the other includes console banning for users playing and sharing spoilers from the game. Users inside the UK have been seeing their copies of the game for Xbox 360 arrive […]

Lifeinvader Is Rockstar’s Social Network Parody

Lifeinvader Is Rockstars Social Network ParodyWho would have thought that the idea of a social network would have taken off in such a big way? Well, a few people did, and Facebook has emerged as the 800 lbs gorilla in this particular market. It does seem that Facebook might have a challenger to its throne though, although this would be in the virtual world of Grand Theft Auto 5, or GTA 5 for short. Rockstar has decided to come up with a social network parody that they have called Lifeinvader, and it has been launched before GTA 5′s arrival later next week. Lifeinvader will most probably also feature a bunch of characters and brands from GTA 5 itself.

It is said that the Lifeinvader social network will load up a range of profiles when accessed, where among them include Sprunk, hairdresser Herr Kutz Barber, and Redwood Cigarettes, with the latter actually having a promotion that offers a 10% discount for your first visit to a hospital whenever you “stalk” them on Lifeinvader. I guess this is a continuation from where GTA 4 left off, as that game had a slew of parody websites. Lifeinvader even has its fair share of taglines, among them being “Portray the life you want online,” “Make friends with strangers,” and “Making the private public”.

    GTA 5 Gameplay Footage Leaked

GTA 5 Gameplay Footage LeakedOver the past couple of days we have heard how Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5 has had its map leaked, giving gamers an idea of how massive the area of Los Santos truly is, and apparently the game’s street date has also been broken over in the Middle East where the breaking of street dates is apparently a common occurrence. In any case thanks to a series of Vine videos uploaded by Jsticks11, the gameplay footage of GTA 5 has made its way online, giving gamers a glimpse the game ahead of its 17th of September release.

In one of the videos it shows that Jsticks11 has been banned from Xbox Live, presumably because he acquired the game illegally, but we guess it did not slow him down as his Vine account is chock full of GTA 5 gameplay videos. We’re also guessing that his choice to upload to Vine is because YouTube is generally pretty fast at removing copyrighted material, and we assume Vine will get on his case pretty soon so if you want to check it out, you best move quick! For those who want to avoid any spoilers of any kind, you might want to pass on the videos, but for those who aren’t too fussed, head on over to Jsticks11’s Vine page and check them out!

    GTA 5 Map Leaked [Spoilers]

GTA 5 Map Leaked [Spoilers]We know that Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5 game will be the biggest game in the GTA franchise, with Rockstar claiming that gamers could look forward to about 100 hours’ worth of gameplay, but exactly how big are we talking about? Of course for those not wanting to spoil the game for themselves, you might want to avert your eyes and ignore the image below, but for those who don’t really care, take a look for yourself to get an idea of how massive the game really is. GTA 5 Street Date Reportedly Broken In The Middle East

It seems that over in the Middle East, games have a tendency to be released ahead of their intended schedule, and for one lucky gamer, he seems to have managed to get his hands on Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5 almost a week ahead of its release. The game has been pegged for a release on the 17th of September for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 but this guy claims to have bought the game ahead of time. He did not specify which retailer he bought it from, but based on the photos that he has posted, some are claiming that it is a legit purchase.

The video above basically shows us some of the goodies the guy got together with his game, and goes on to give examples of how some games such as the Call of Duty franchise and Metal Gear Solid 4 have been released before their street dates, so for some retailers to start offering up GTA 5 before the official date is not a complete surprise. In any case obviously Rockstar will not be too pleased about this, and hopefully some gamers who did get their hands on the game earlier than everyone else will have the decency not to post spoilers.
