ZTE Geek Running On Tizen Rumored To Be Shown Off At MWC 2014

ZTE Geek Running On Tizen Rumored To Be Shown Off At MWC 2014Back in 2013, ZTE officially unveiled the ZTE Geek Android smartphone. Unlike most Android smartphones, the ZTE Geek would not be powered by a processor based on the ARM architecture, but would be powered by an Intel processor instead. Well it looks like ZTE could be looking to give the Geek a revival this year at MWC because according to a report published in Greece, ZTE is set to unveil a new ZTE Geek, but instead of running on Android, the new Geek will be powered by the Tizen platform instead. Expected to debut at MWC 2014 this year, the handset is said to be shown off at the Tizen Association booth where there will reportedly be an app challenge taking place, presumably to lure developers to create apps for the Tizen platform.

For those unfamiliar, Tizen is a smartphone platform that was developed in part by Samsung. The platform is said to be an alternative to iOS, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone. In fact, Samsung who has depended greatly on Android is said to be developing a Tizen handset of their own, although the handset has yet to be officially announced. While we can’t speak for the quality of Tizen and its performance, the fact that Android and iOS are so incredibly established and with a wealth of apps that their disposal, budding platforms will most likely discover it’s an uphill battle if they hope to displace the leaders of the smartphone market.

Sony A77 Successor Rumored For June Release

Sony A77 Successor Rumored For June ReleaseFrom what we heard back in 2013, the Sony A77’s successor had been rumored for a release in 2014. Considering that the camera had been released in 2011 and that we’re now in 2014, we guess it’s about time that Sony announce an upgrade to the A77 especially in light of the competition who has released newer and better cameras lately. Now the good news is that according to new rumors from Sony Alpha Rumors, it seems that we can look forward to the A77’s successor come June 2014. The website is reporting that their trusted source has revealed that the camera will be released in June 2014, although we’re not sure if the camera will be announced at an earlier date.

Their source has also stated that the A77’s successor will not be a camera with incremental upgrades, but will instead feature some new hardware. This also seems to be in line with Sony’s new direction in which incremental upgrades are passed on in favor of more exciting and innovative features. Unfortunately their source did not reveal any of the specs of the A77’s successor, so we guess we will just have to wait for Sony to make their official announcement, which has been speculated for April. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us at a later date for the details!

12.9-inch iPad Pro Rumored For Q3 2014 Launch

12.9 inch iPad Pro Rumored For Q3 2014 LaunchEarly on in 2013, we heard the rumors that Apple could be planning a larger iPad with a 12.9-inch display. This was an odd move given that prior to the iPad mini, Apple remain staunch in their belief that the iPad’s display size was the perfect one for a tablet, so to see them swing towards a mini version and an even larger version of the iPad is a little odd, although admittedly not completely out of the question. In any case according to the rumors, the alleged iPad Pro has been rumored for a 2014 release, the second half to be specific, and if you wanted an even more specific release date, DigiTimes is expecting that it will most likely be in Q3 that we will see it launch.

Given that Apple has switched out the launch dates of their iPads from the first half of the year (as they did with the iPad 3) to the second half of the year (the iPad 4 and iPad mini), we guess if Apple were to make any iPad announcements, it will most likely be around that time of the year as well. Now the specs of Apple’s alleged iPad Pro have been revealed to come with a 2K display and eye-tracking technology, but apart from that not much else is known, such as its processor and design. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Any of you interested in a larger iPad?

Nokia Lumia 1520 Mini/1520 V Rumored To Be In The Works

Nokia Lumia 1520 Mini/1520 V Rumored To Be In The WorksNokia is not necessarily a company that deals with “mini” versions of their phones. Those mini variants are usually best left to Samsung and Sony who have released such devices in the past, but it seems that Nokia could be working on a mini version of one of its phones, at least that’s according to the rumors. According to reports out of China, it seems that Nokia is rumored to be working on a Lumia 1520 mini, or Lumia 1520 V which is its alleged moniker. It will be based on the Lumia 1520 but will sport different specs, which in all honesty sounds a bit like the rumored Nokia Lumia 929 a.k.a Lumia Icon for Verizon.

So what sort of specs are we looking at? Well for starters it is rumored to sport a 4.3” display but interestingly enough, Nokia will be maintaining the Full HD 1920×1080 display, meaning that in terms of sharpness, the Lumia 1520 V will be a force to be reckoned with. It is also rumored to feature 2GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, and come with a 14MP PureView camera, and a 3,000mAh battery to top it off. Based on these specs it does sound a bit like the Lumia Icon for Verizon, just with a much smaller display. The Lumia 1520 V is rumored for a launch after Windows Phone 8.1 is released in April. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think?

Banks Reportedly Willing To Back Sprints Plan Of Acquiring T MobileBack in 2013, we heard the rumors that Sprint might be looking to buy T-Mobile. HTC One “M8″ reportedly arriving in March with twin-sensor camera

Following the case leak that took place yesterday, an additional source has cropped up with information on the next iteration of the HTC One, the “M8”. Reportedly, the upcoming handset … Continue reading

HTC M8 Could Arrive In March This Year

HTC M8 Could Arrive In March This YearThe HTC M8, which is a smartphone that has yet to roll out officially and yet has already been on the receiving end of so many rumors to date, has yet another rumor attached to it – that the HTC M8 could very well arrive later this March, where it will be accompanied by a larger viewing real estate area as well as a twin-sensor UltraPixel camera. Of course, just like how any other decent rumor out there will be proven (or otherwise) in due time, we will just have to sit tight and wait. The HTC M8 happens to be the codename for the next flagship device from HTC, and there is a very real possibility of it being called the One 2 Or Two, depending on which way the wind blows. At the very least, it will share a pretty similar design philosophy as the HTC One, which is a good thing since the HTC One has proven itself to be more than a decent flagship. Unfortunately, it is the company’s baggage that has led to a lower level of adoption for the HTC One than the folks over at HTC would have liked, especially for a flagship.

LG G3 Rumored May 17th Release

LG G3 Rumored May 17th ReleaseThe LG G2 was LG’s flagship smartphone for 2013 and given that the handset was relatively well-received, we can only assume that LG has a successor planned. Given that the phone was released in September 2013, we expect that LG will only release it in September 2014, but as it turns out, May 17th is a possible date. This is according to reports from the Korean media who has outed a very specific release date of May 17th. Assuming this is true, there is a good chance that LG might announce the device during MWC 2014, or maybe a little later closer to its rumored May 17th date.

As far as the specs are concerned, it looks like the LG G3 will compete with the Galaxy S5 in terms of display and pack a 2,560×1,440 resolution. As far as display size is concerned, it could feature a 5.5” display which would make its pixel density pretty high. As for its camera, it could feature a 16MP sensor with optical image stabilization, and finally if the rumors are to be believed, the LG G3 might be powered by LG’s own Odin processor, versus turning to Qualcomm. For those wondering why LG is cutting its annual release cycle short, it seems that LG might be worried that taking an entire year would leave too much room for Samsung to gain on them.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Does the LG G3 sound like a phone you might be more interested in than the Samsung Galaxy S5?
