Alleged Canon EOS M2 Specs Leaked

Alleged Canon EOS M2 Specs LeakedWe have been hearing rumors about the Canon EOS M’s successor for a while now, and while it was originally rumored earlier this year that it would be announced soon, last we heard it seems that we might only expect it in 2014 instead. In any case according to the folks at Digicame-Info, it seems that they have managed to get their hands on the alleged specs of the upcoming camera, which apparently will be making its debut at CES 2014. We will be live at CES 2014 come January next year, so do check back with us then to see if the rumors pan out.

In any case since these aren’t official specs, take it with a grain of salt for now, but so far what we might be able to expect from the EOS M2 is an 18MP APS-C sensor with a hybrid CMOS AF II system. Its AF speed is said to be 2.3 times faster than its predecessor, and will be powered by the DIGIC 5 image processing engine. It will sport a 4.6fps burst rate, an ISO range between 100-12,800, built-in WiFi, and comes with the ability for smartphone users to operate the camera remotely, as well as supporting wireless transfer of images from the camera to the smartphone. Doesn’t sound too shabby, does it?

Sony Rumored To Be Working On 54MP Full Frame Sensor

Sony Rumored To Be Working On 54MP Full Frame SensorSafe to say, most of you guys are probably familiar with how more megapixels does not necessarily equate to better photos, but there are times when more megapixels are necessary, such as when photographers need to print large photos and don’t want to lose out on the detail. In any case according to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, it seems that Sony is working on a 54MP full frame sensor for 2014, and that if they were to implement it, chances are we might see it manifest itself in 2015 or 2016 cameras. Why is it taking so long? Well apparently to manufacture a 54MP sensor is very expensive, so it might be able before Sony figures out a way to lower costs to produce it more efficiently.

According to the rumor, the sensor will feature 2,460 focusing points, with the focusing area covering about 78% of the entire sensor itself. Based on this we have to assume that this sensor will probably be targeted towards the professional photographer, and not your average hobbyist, but what do you guys think? Does a 54MP full frame sensor sound like something you could get on board with?

The HTC M8 Story So Far

The HTC M8 Story So FarWe have seen our fair share of rumors surrounding the HTC M8 for quite some time already, with the recent rounds of rumors happening just in the middle of November. Still, there has been nothing official revealed, we only have bits and pieces to pick up the details from. The latest round of rumors have been sparked from an AnTuTu benchmark score, which in all probability, points to the HTC M8.

What do you think of the HTC M8 rumors? The AnTuTu benchmark score was covered by us nearly a week ago, and in there, it pointed to the model number HTC 0P68120, with Android 4.4 KitKat as the operating system of choice, a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8974AB 2.2GHz processor that is accompanied by an Adreno 330 graphics chipset. There will be two cameras available, with a front facing 2.1-megapixel shooter, while the back will hold a 4-megapixel camera that will in all probability feature Ultrapixel technology, so do not get turned off by the seeming lack of megapixel count. Oh yeah, there is also a very high chance of this being the first Sense 6.0 device.

What are some of the hardware features that you would have liked the HTC M8 to arrive with, assuming all that we have read are true to form?

Facebook Rumored To Be Interested In Acquiring Indian Startup Company

Facebook Rumored To Be Interested In Acquiring Indian Startup CompanyWhen it comes to Android apps, one size does not fit all, unfortunately. This is due to Android devices being extremely varied in the sense of hardware as well as software, with some devices running on older builds of Android, while some have the latest version. Well perhaps in a bid to help optimize their app for Android devices across the board, ranging from low-end to high-end, word on the street has it that Facebook is looking acquire an Indian startup company called Little Eye Labs. The company provides performance analysis and optimization tools for Android developers, and according to a report by India’s Business Standard, Facebook and Little Eye Labs are reportedly in advanced talks.

While it is unclear as to what Facebook might want with such a company, like we said earlier, it has been speculated that Facebook could be looking for a way to better optimize its app across the wide range of Android devices out there. While the app runs fine on high-end devices, low-end devices might tell a different story, and if Facebook can create an optimized app and experience, they will be able to attract more users onto its network. This acquisition might not be such a surprise either as Google had acquired Flexycore, a company specializing in Android optimization as well.

Samsung Reportedly Working On 20MP Camera Modules For 2014

Samsung Reportedly Working On 20MP Camera Modules For 2014While more megapixels does not necessarily mean a better camera, it is unfortunately still heavily marketed by companies. After all to the average consumer, bigger numbers usually means better, right? In any case it seems that Samsung could be working on a 20MP camera module that is set to debut in the second half of 2014. This is according to Korea news website, ET News who claims that Samsung Mobile’s Advanced Development Team has begun working on such modules. Assuming there is any truth in these claims, it means that said module could possibly debut in 2014’s Galaxy Note 4 as it might be a bit too late for the Galaxy S5, especially since the Galaxy S5 is rumored to sport a 16MP camera instead.

The reason for working on a 20MP camera module is also because it has been rumored that Samsung will not be including optical image stabilization in its 2014 cameras due to components not arriving on time, which means that they will be trying to use the megapixel count as a way to differentiate its devices. While Samsung’s phones have not exactly been slouches in the camera department, we’re sure there are users out there who would rather more advanced camera features rather than simply increasing the megapixel count, but what do you guys think?

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite Rumored For MWC 2014 Announcement

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite Rumored For MWC 2014 AnnouncementIt wasn’t too long ago that Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 3, the successor to last year’s Galaxy Note 2. Given the specs of the device, it was priced at a premium but the good news is that if you do not have the cash to splash but would like to have a Galaxy Note-like device, you might be interested to learn that Samsung is reportedly planning a Galaxy Note 3 Lite that will debut at MWC 2014. Earlier we had reported on a Samsung device that was spotted in shipping manifests that went by the model number SM-N7505. According to SamMobile, they are “confirming” that this device is indeed the Galaxy Note 3 Lite.

As we mentioned in our earlier report, there were two display sizes mentioned. One was at 5.49” and the other at 5.7”. Apparently Samsung is still testing both sizes and it is unclear as to which size Samsung will go with in the end. Other rumored specs of the Galaxy Note 3 Lite includes a possible downgraded camera which will be at 8MP instead of the 13MP on the original Galaxy Note 3. The display could also see a change from Super AMOLED to LCD. As it stands the rumors claim that Samsung has Galaxy Grand Lite that will also debut at MWC 2014.

    Samsung SM-N7505 Listing Spotted Online

Samsung SM N7505 Listing Spotted OnlineWhen it comes to model numbers for a particular device, it is a love it or hate it affair. After all, you can never quite tell just whether it is true or not, although based on the previously released devices, they could prove to be an indicator of what’s to come as the model number would have a slight increment in the figures. Zauba, a logistics website which keeps track of imports as well as exports to and from India, have shown that the Samsung SM-N7505 is part of the shipment, and it will apparently arrive with a couple of variants in tow.

One of them shows off a display size that measures 5.7” in size, while the other is wee bit smaller, measuring 5.49”. The two units happened to make their way into India for “testing and evaluation” purposes, although there has been no guarantee that this particular model will eventually make its way to the general market worldwide. Right now, we do know that the Samsung SM-N7505 has been listed for approximately $533 as an unlocked device, which would certainly place it out of the mid-range league, being more on the high end side of things. It would most probably be part of the Galaxy Note family.
