This week the folks at Samsung have done a rather quick run-down of machines at their Premiere event in London. Not only is the team bringing notebooks and Ulrabooks to the market, they’ve got an all-in-one machine as well. This family begins with the ATIV One 5 Style, a Windows 8 All-in-one, and moves on
This afternoon we’ll be seeing a collection of Samsung devices that sit comfortably in both the desktop and mobile environments. What we’ve seen already is a collection of mobile devices – cameras and hybrids – that’ll be appearing at the event for some hands-on action for sure. Just this morning, too, we’ve seen some notebooks
While the Samsung event coming up at Noon Eastern time will certainly be showing a device or two that we’ve never seen before, it would appear the company has a bit of a leaky faucet on their hands. The Samsung ATIV Book 9 Lite as well as the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus have been
Samsung will be revealing some new products that they’ve been working on, and as the event invitation suggested, we should be seeing some new Galaxy and ATIV devices. Just mere hours before the event is scheduled to get underway, we’ve been treated with a leak that is said to be the ATIV Book Q with
The next wave of Samsung devices is washing in as a London event announced earlier today clues the public in, miniature photo style. The Samsung Galaxy Note III will quite likely be up for announcement as it’s been appearing in benchmarks here and there and has historically appeared not long after a Galaxy smartphone hero device in the past. Meanwhile the company has Windows 8 notebooks and a brand new Galaxy Camera to show as well.
This Samsung event is sure to be packed with announcements that expand the company’s collection of Android and Windows devices with a real possibility for Tizen appearing on the tail end. Guesses surrounding the actual invite card have centered on these three items:
1. Galaxy Note III
2. ATIV Ultrabooks (Series 7)
3. Galaxy S 4 ZOOM
The third entry has appeared in UAProf listings, passed on by Mobileaks as a replacement for the Samsung Galaxy Camera, here coming with software features that mix it in well with the GALAXY S 4 lineup. This camera will likely be working with a 16 megapixel camera and the same sensor as the original device.
The Samsung Galaxy Note III, on the other hand, has appeared in the benchmark system AnTuTu several times. The most likely candidate for final release amongst the several instances of the device code-named GT-N7200 (Galaxy Note III) is one running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with a processor clocked at 1.6GHz. This is the same clock speed at which the Samsung GALAXY S 4 was released, that belonging to the Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor.
What will quite likely be the case is that, regardless of the physical screen size of the Galaxy Note III, it’ll have the same number of pixels as appearing on the Samsung GALAXY S 4. Alongside this 1080p display, the Galaxy Note III will have a 13-megapixel camera, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor when released in the USA, and will be working with an S Pen with newly upgraded abilities.
You can expect the Samsung Galaxy Note III to be released internationally by September with a USA debut not long after. The question of whether this device will be released to multiple carriers or not is all but moot at this point: only how much longer after AT&T and T-Mobile Verizon will release device remains up in the air.

Samsung will bring a new batch of Galaxy and ATIV phones and tablets to play in a launch event in late June, the company has confirmed, teasing the new range ahead of its UK debut. The event, to be held in the evening of June 20 at London’s Earl’s Court Exhibition Center, has been dubbed “Samsung Premiere 2013″ and will presumably see at least two devices added to the company’s line-up.
The Galaxy range needs little introduction, being headlined of course by the Galaxy S 4. One possibility is that Samsung could use the London event to reveal the Galaxy S 4 mini, the rumored smaller version of the flagship.
However, the rumor-mill hasn’t been quiet on possible Galaxy phones, with both the Galaxy S 4 Active and the Galaxy S 4 Mega expected to be unveiled sometime in the near future. Samsung’s big reveal could also be around a Galaxy Tab, perhaps the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.
As for ATIV, that branding is a little less known than the Galaxy series. On the one hand, there are the ATIV tablets, which have so far included Windows 8 and Windows RT models; that’s been underplayed in recent months, especially after Samsung opted not to launch the RT-based ATIV Tab in the US.
The other possibility is a new Windows Phone, since Samsung uses the ATIV name for that series of devices as well. The company’s mobile emphasis has so far been predominantly on Android, but a new Windows Phone 8 device, perhaps with some of the specifications of the Galaxy S 4, could be one possibility.
However, thanks to some brand streamlining, ATIV also covers Samsung’s all-in-ones and laptops, in addition to its Windows-based tablets, so the London event could well see a broader line-up unveiled.
We’ll know for sure on June 20, with the show kicking off at 6pm BST (1PM ET/10AM PT) and livestreamed at the Samsung Mobile YouTube channel.

Samsung has an entire slew of consumer electronics devices, and these range from home appliances to entertainment devices, and one other segment that they are particularly big in would be the smartphone and notebook industries. The thing is, the ATIV name has traditionally been attached to Windows-powered devices, where the Samsung ATIV S was their maiden attempt at a smartphone which runs on the Windows Phone 8 operating system. Well, just like how the Galaxy name offers a slew of smartphones and tablets that run on the Android platform, Samsung has decided to give the ATIV name more leeway, where it will now include all of its Windows based PCs. With that in mind, one ought to take note that there are two new notebooks released under the ATIV banner, namely the Samsung ATIV Book 5 and the Samsung ATIV Book 6.
The Samsung ATIV Book 5 was specially designed for speed and mobility, where it represents the next generation of Samsung Ultrabooks. It will come with 24GB of ExpressCache to deliver rapid boot up and load times, allowing them to access their favorite apps and programs on the vibrant 14” touchscreen in a jiffy. It tips the scales at a mere 4.19 pounds and measures under an inch thin, letting you bring the Samsung ATIV Book 5 wherever you want to be productive without missing a beat.
As for the higher powered Samsung ATIV Book 6, this will be the notebook that Samsung hopes will be able to deliver the ultimate computing experience without having to sacrifice mobility. It will be an elegant touch-enabled laptop that comes packed with a top-of-the-line Intel Core™i7 processor, accompanied by a 15.6-inch full HD touchscreen, has Samsung’s exclusive RAMAccelerator technology to enable the ATIV Book 6’s 8GB RAM to function up to 1.5 times harder compared to traditional memory.
Regardless of which model you choose, they will come preinstalled with SideSync technology, which will enable users to seamlessly switch from working on their PC to their Android-based Samsung smartphone. This is done in a simple manner, all one needs to do is hook up the two two devices via a USB cable, and you’re good to go, responding to a SMS on a smartphone using your PC keyboard, now how about that? The Samsung ATIV Book 5 and ATIV Book 6 models will retail for $899.99 and $1199.99, respectively.

This week Samsung has made it clear that they want to keep their Windows device to all live under one roof, that being the “ATIV” branding already in place on a variety of products. In a bid to make it clear that they’re going to keep software and hardware cohesive, Samsung reports they’ll no longer be limiting the brand name to devices that “convert” from one form to another – ATIV will instead keep the Windows world in one friendly nest.
In an effort to keep their ATIV devices unique in the PC environment, Samsung also mentioned they’ll be bringing a feature forward that’ll keep users in sync with their smartphones and tablets as well. This so-called “SideSync” feature will be embedded in all future ATIV PCs and will, as they say, make moving files, working, and communicating, seamless between devices.
SideSync will work with ATIV PC users and their smartphones to text, view maps, edit bits and pieces of their phone, and move multimedia. At the moment it seems that SideSync will only be working with Samsung ATIV PCs using Windows 8 and Samsung Android-based devices.
This renaming structure and push for further connectivity between mobile and desktop computers, Samsung has revealed a couple new notebooks, both of them coming with names that reflect Samsung’s new bid for simplicity. The Samsung ATIV Book 5 will bring Ultrabook power with 24GB of ExpressCache and a 14-inch touchscreen and 4.19 pounds of weight. The Samsung ATIV Book 6 brings an Intel Core i7 processor with a 15.6-inch full HD touchscreen and Samsung’s RAMAccelerator technology for accelerating its 8GB of RAM.
The Samsung ATIV Book 5 will be coming with an Intel Core i5 processor and is available today starting at $899.99 while the ATIV Book 6 will be bringing a 1TB HDD in its most basic form, starting at $1199.99 USD. The name-changes to Samsung’s lines such as Chronos, Ultra, Smart PC, and Series 9 will be henceforth re-named ATIV, a full chart showing their new names appearing below.
Sound like a nice set of naming changes to you? Will you be able to live with your Samsung Series 9 machine now tht it’s called an ATIV Book 9, or will you have to re-think your plans based on the name? Let us know!

This afternoon we’ve gotten our hands on the Samsung ATIV Odyssey for the first time off the showroom floor, and this Windows Phone 8 combination with Samsung hardware prowess is looking like a winner right out of the box. This machine is going to be available to you starting today from Verizon complete with 4G LTE and a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core 1.5GHz processor under a lovely 4-inch WVGA display. Will this new Samsung hero for the Windows Phone 8 universe be enough to take out the Nokia Lumia 822 and HTC Windows Phone 8X competition?
This machine is smooth to the touch, has a hard plastic back and sides, and makes little effort to differentiate itself (on the outside) from the Samsung Focus 1 and 2 as far as basic aesthetics go. When it comes to the actual largeness of the display, the brightness, the color, and the innards of this device as well, you’ll find that the ATIV Odyssey is a whole new show. In addition to working with a microSD card slot with the ability to hold 64GB cards, you’ll find this device more than ready to move forward with Microsoft’s newest mobile operating system as well.
With a 2,100 mAh battery under the back panel of this machine we’re expecting some rather excellent up-time across the day. We’ve also got a 5 megapixel camera on the back, a 1.2 megapixel camera on the front, and Qualcomm’s support for image processing inside that Snapdragon – so we’re expecting some lovely photo and video results in the very near future. This machine comes with 1GB of RAM to handle the most powerful apps available for Windows Phone today, and the full package seems to be, at the moment, a rather solid package for the Microsoft-loving masses.
The gallery you’re having a peek at here includes a small set of photos taken with the camera on this phone. Note that the photos taken of the biker are taken through a window, so they are a bit more hazy than they would be had they been taking without said window outside. We’ll have more photos and demo video in the final review, coming up soon!
Have a peek at the hands-on photos above and below and let us know if you plan on picking this device up today at Verizon. This beast will be available to you starting on January 24th, 2013 for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a sign-up with an agreement for two years of service with Verizon. Stick around for our full review of this device coming up soon!
