The mid-sized machine known as Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8.0 has made its way to the USA before this week, but never with wireless data abilities beyond Wi-fi. Today AT&T has jumped onboard with the machine, bringing their own 4G LTE network to the 8-inch display-toting tablet with S-Pen technology. Though AT&T hasn’t officially stated when
As the next Samsung press event approaches, device names have been appearing here and there both with and without specifications attached. In this case it’s the inevitable Samsung Galaxy Note III, complete with its code-name SM-N9000 riding in the source code of Samsung Kazakhstan, of all places, along with some other rumored devices. Here we also see the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, 8.0, and 7.0, along with the Samsung Galaxy S 4 Zoom – a replacement for the Samsung Galaxy Camera.
The Samsung Galaxy line of smartphone-sized devices has been an apparent success for the brand, bringing on a second round last year (two years ago the original Galaxy Note was introduced), along with two sizes of Galaxy Note tablets. As the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 appeared with styling not unlike that of the GALAXY S 4, Samsung all but guaranteed the release of another new Galaxy Note “phablet”.
According to this leak, all we can really tell is that the device exists – or will exist soon. If history tells us anything, it suggests that this machine will be revealed at one of two places. The first and more sensible place would be at the June 20th event Samsung has planned for new Galaxy and ATIV devices. The second place the Galaxy Note III could be revealed is at IFA 2013 – the original Galaxy Note was born there, as was the second, so there’s always a chance that Samsung might stick to tradition.
Samsung has been turning toward a model in which they announce their hero devices at their own, separate events over the past year or so, so sticking with IFA and going it alone (in this already announced event) for the Galaxy Note III are just as likely possibilities as one another.
he Samsung Galaxy Note III has been strongly suggested by SamMobile to work with a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 5.99-inch display with 1080p resolution, and a 13-megapixel camera. Inside we’ll either find Android 4.2.2 or Android 4.3, depending on when the device is released – with Samsung’s TouchWiz over the top, of course. Then it goes without saying that the Note III will work with the newest in Samsung’s S-Pen technology.

The next wave of Samsung devices is washing in as a London event announced earlier today clues the public in, miniature photo style. The Samsung Galaxy Note III will quite likely be up for announcement as it’s been appearing in benchmarks here and there and has historically appeared not long after a Galaxy smartphone hero device in the past. Meanwhile the company has Windows 8 notebooks and a brand new Galaxy Camera to show as well.
This Samsung event is sure to be packed with announcements that expand the company’s collection of Android and Windows devices with a real possibility for Tizen appearing on the tail end. Guesses surrounding the actual invite card have centered on these three items:
1. Galaxy Note III
2. ATIV Ultrabooks (Series 7)
3. Galaxy S 4 ZOOM
The third entry has appeared in UAProf listings, passed on by Mobileaks as a replacement for the Samsung Galaxy Camera, here coming with software features that mix it in well with the GALAXY S 4 lineup. This camera will likely be working with a 16 megapixel camera and the same sensor as the original device.
The Samsung Galaxy Note III, on the other hand, has appeared in the benchmark system AnTuTu several times. The most likely candidate for final release amongst the several instances of the device code-named GT-N7200 (Galaxy Note III) is one running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with a processor clocked at 1.6GHz. This is the same clock speed at which the Samsung GALAXY S 4 was released, that belonging to the Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor.
What will quite likely be the case is that, regardless of the physical screen size of the Galaxy Note III, it’ll have the same number of pixels as appearing on the Samsung GALAXY S 4. Alongside this 1080p display, the Galaxy Note III will have a 13-megapixel camera, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor when released in the USA, and will be working with an S Pen with newly upgraded abilities.
You can expect the Samsung Galaxy Note III to be released internationally by September with a USA debut not long after. The question of whether this device will be released to multiple carriers or not is all but moot at this point: only how much longer after AT&T and T-Mobile Verizon will release device remains up in the air.

Samsung Galaxy Note III hopes dashed: Plastic body and no flexible display tipped
Posted in: Today's ChiliIt seems that Samsung will be sticking with their usual ways with the third iteration of the Galaxy Note. While it’s been rumored that the phablet-style smartphone would sport a new aluminum design, as well as a flexible AMOLED display, it’s been recently tipped that the Korean company will stick with its plastic design used for the Galaxy S 4, and will keep a solid glass (or plastic) front for the screen.
If this turns out to be true, we wouldn’t be too surprised, as flexible displays certainly aren’t ready for the mass market quite yet, and we’re pretty sure that if Samsung wanted to give one of their devices an aluminum shell, it would’ve been the Galaxy S 4. Instead, the company is said to be sticking with its usual slimy-esque plastic.
In fact, the Galaxy Note III is said to have a very similar design to that of the Galaxy S 4, including the new silver band that wraps around the edge of the smartphone. As for other design changes to the new Galaxy Note, it’s said to sport a thinner bezel in order to pack in a larger screen size without making the device bigger, as it’s already quite gargantuan.
As for specs of the Galaxy Note III, we’re possibly looking at an ARM Cortex-A15 octa-core processor clocked at 1.9GHz, as well as version with a Cortex-A7 quad-core chip clocked at 1.9GHz, or an in-house Exynos chip. There’s also said to be a 13MP camera on the back (just like with the Galaxy S 4) with a 2MP front-facer. There’s also expected to be an enormous 6-inch display to make it even larger than the previous Galaxy Note, but we’ll see if that actually happens.
So, it looks like all you have to do to envision what the Galaxy Note III will look like, is to take a look a look at the Galaxy S 4 and imagine it with a screen size that’s roughly an inch larger. Of course, the Galaxy S 4 most likely will cater to most people, but for those that want a larger screen for better productivity, it seems the Galaxy Note III will be your best bet at this point. For those still wielding the original Samsung Galaxy Note on AT&T, you’ll be pleased to know that the phablet-style smartphone has finally been updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, allowing users of the 5.3-inch handset to take advantage of Google Now, improved notifications, and performance enhancements with Project Butter.
The update should be available now, although AT&T didn’t mention how fast the roll out would be happening. Although, all users can download the update on their PC and install on their Galaxy Note device through Samsung Kies. AT&T didn’t mention anything about being able to receive the update over-the-air, so you’re best bet seems to be to go the manual route.
On a different but still slightly-related note, the Verizon Galaxy Note II also received an update today, receiving a bump up to Android 4.1.2, as well as a handful of updates to apps that now support Samsung’s Multi Window mode, which allows you to split-screen certain apps. The update also includes support for Isis Mobile Wallet, as well as fixes alarm clock issues.
The AT&T Galaxy Note sports a 5.3-inch with a 1280 x 800 resolution, while its successor rocks a larger 5.5-inch display with a 720p resolution display. The Galaxy Note rocks a dual-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, while the Galaxy Note II packs in a faster quad-core chip clocked at a quick 1.6GHz.

This week a new Samsung handset has appeared in a leaked photo aside a set of specifications that suggest a display larger than the device’s predecessors. With the device taking on a 5.9-inch display, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (or Galaxy Note III if you prefer) will work with the same amount of pixels given to the Samsung GALAXY S 4. This means that the device will have a lower pixel density and will be bringing with it a similar processor under the hood, that being the Samsung-made Exynos 5410 “Octa” SoC. Updated after the cut.
This tip comes from Chinese device blog MyDrivers where they’ve also gotten word that the device will come with its four A15 cores clockd in at 2.0GHz while its four A7 cores are clocked at 1.2GHz. This makes for a rather interesting system-on-chip combination of eight cores – though you’ll want to read our SlashGear 101: Eynos 5 Octa Processor guide before you decide it’s a whole lot better than the competition. This processor works with big.LITTLE technology to move tasks to one core or the other based on need.
This device is said to be coming to the market with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and 3GB of RAM. That’s the highest amount of RAM to come with a smartphone thus far, competitors having stuck with 2GB for over a year. This device will also be coming with with a microSD card slot the way its predecessors did, this time offering up 64GB of additional space if you have the card to boost it, this along with the 32GB built-in space on the one model being tipped today.
At the head of this article you’ll see this newest generation sitting aside the Samsung Galaxy Note II. Both of these devices are still significantly smaller than the Galaxy Note 8.0 and the Galaxy Note 10.1, both considered tablet-sized.
Users will once again be finding a display size covered by Samsung, the company’s display coverage hitting the vast majority of standard sized from small to large over the past several years in smart devices. With the Samsung Galaxy Note III, users will also, of course, be working with the company’s S-Pen built-in to the device along the back, much as the newest generation offers.
Update: Looks like it’s still too soon to get Note 3 excited – Paul O’Brien points us in the direction of this Note 2 clone which looks to be the device in the image.

We’ve heard ramblings of the the rumored Galaxy Note III in the recent past, and today’s rumor takes the claims a bit further. It’s said that Samsung‘s next Galaxy Note phablet-style handset will do away with traditional glass for plastic in order to make the screen more robust and less prone to crack when dropped.
According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Note III will sport the first-ever plastic-lined OLED display, and it’s said to be revealed at IFA 2013 later this August, with a release date sometime in Q4 2013. As for screen size, we’ve heard that Samsung will go for the 6.3-inch variety, although other sources have pointed to a more manageable 5.99-inch display.
The supposed OLED plastic display will be extremely lightweight and thinner than traditional screens, which would make way for a bigger battery or an overall thinner device. And since it’s plastic, it’s said that the screen will hold up a lot better to drops than glass would. Despite the advancements of Gorilla Glass, it still shatters pretty easily when dropped at the right angle.
This would make the Galaxy Note III Samsung’s first all-plastic device — that is, if Samsung decides to continue with its tradition of plastic-laden shells for its devices. We’re not sure how much of an impact this will have on the user experience, but glass has always been a premium option compared to plastic when it comes to touch devices.

It’s time to grab hold of the next massive smartphone/tablet hybrid experience from Samsung, this time in the form of the phonecall-capable Galaxy Note 8.0 releasing in the UK today. This device will be available around the world soon and very soon, but for now we’re working with the basic wi-fi edition in the greater United Kingdom. This version of the device does not have the ability to connect to mobile data, therefor rendering its phone call abilities as limited to your 3rd party apps – but yes, you can speak into it however you like.
As there is indeed a speaker above the logo on the front of this device and yes, there is a microphone down near the bottom, you can use this “Note” device as a phone if you have some web-capable call service in mind. In the future, carrier editions of this device will be revealed on 3G networks internationally – sorry USA, you’re out of luck. This device works with an 8.0-inch WVGA display at 1280 x 800 pixel resolution – that being 189PPI for those of you wondering.
Have a peek at our full Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 hands-on experience now!
You’ve got a 5 megapixel camera on the back, a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front, and a brand new S-Pen for artistry galore. This device also works with 2GB of RAM backing up a cool 1.6GHz quad-core A9 processor (Exynos) and a selection of custom apps made for Samsung devices exclusively.
One example is Flipboard, this version of the app allowing your Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 (and the GALAXY S 4, mind you) to preview stories while you hover above them – here with your S-Pen, there on the GALAXY S 4 with your finger! This device is just as thin as your Samsung Galaxy Note II, comes in every color you can imagine – just so long as it’s white, and will fit in perfectly with your Nature-themed Galaxy devices into the future.

If you thought Samsung was ever going to stop attempting to create smart devices with every single different screen size, Galaxy S to Note to Tab, you were wrong! Today some anonymous sources have let it be known that two new Samsung smartphone/phablet devices by the name Samsung Galaxy Mega will be coming forth some time this year. We’d had some previous insight into at least one of the display sizes due to an accessory release made public during the Samsung GALAXY S 4 reveal event, while the other comes as a bit of a surprise!
What the folks at SamMobile have been told by some sources they trust to the end of the world is that not one, but two Galaxy Mega smart devices will be revealed before Summer’s end. The first of these devices comes in at a lovely 5.8-inches while the second – once again bridging the gap between smartphones and tablets – will be bringing on a monstrous 6.3-inches of display real estate.
• Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 GT-I9152
• 5.8-inch display (resolution unknown)
• Release: week of May 27, 2013
• Color: White• Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 GT-I9200
• 6.3-inch display (resolution unknown)
• Release: week of June 17, 2013
• Colors: Black, White
Think about how the Samsung release schedule has begun working with naming conventions, cutting off at certain size points. With the Samsung Galaxy S III and 4, we’ve begun to see Samsung ending the growth of the size of the display, with the next level then being the Galaxy Note – but there it ends. Though it would seem to make sense that Samsung would create a scale something like the following, it’s simply not in the cards:
1. Samsung Galaxy S
2. Samsung Galaxy Note
3. Samsung Galaxy Mega
4. Samsung Galaxy Tab
We’ve already got a 10.1-inch Samsung Galaxy Note – that’s tablet sized – and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0. So there’s cross-overs. So what place does the Samsung Galaxy Mega have in this scale from large to small? We’ll have to consider it to be something more of a presentation oddity. Perhaps the Samsung Galaxy Mega will be made for gamers!

It would appear that right on top of the launch of the GALAXY S 4, an accessory detail, of all things, may have outed the prospective screen size for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note III. With the launch of the Samsung GALAXY S 4 we’ve seen Samsung’s willingness to stick with the nature-themed hardware body of their device lineup. With the Samsung Game Pad detail list released today, we’re to understand that the screen size for the Galaxy Note III may very well be a monstrous 6.3-inches.
This lovely little oddity was revealed under the radar by Samsung this week for use with the Samsung GALAXY S 4, it being a push for the device to work with gaming controls not unlike that of the Xbox 360, right down to the XYBA configuration and color scheme. If you take a peek at NVIDIA’s Project SHIELD, you’ll also see XYBA and the colors blue, orangy/yellow, red, and green showing up in the same spot. A real standardization is happening right this minute.
But the interesting bit we’d like you to pay attention to here and now is the compatibility this device has with screen sizes between 4-inches and 6.3-inches. While this covers every Galaxy S device on the market today, it may very well be telling what the Galaxy Note’s next generation is toting as well. With the Samsung GALAXY S 4 hitting the market soon, it wont be long before the big S starts hinting at the again-larger Galaxy Note handset as it has for the past two years.
Have a peak at the timeline below for more information on the Samsung GALAXY S 4 complete with hands-on action and details on its innards. See the four pillars of user experience excellence as well to see how the Galaxy Note III might be shaping up soon, complete with features that’ll have you wanting a Samsung device quicker than you can say S-Want!
