Keep Your Precious in a TARDIS Jewelry Box

If you’re looking for a place to store the various bits of jewelry you’ve amassed traveling through space and time, then look no further than this TARDIS Jewelry Box.

While it doesn’t contain a huge control room inside, its numerous drawers and storage areas sure make it seem bigger on the inside. It’s even got a little mirror in there so you can admire your devilish good looks.

It’s too bad that it’s just made out of thick, coated cardboard instead of something a bit more substantial. Still, the TARDIS Jewelry Box is way cheaper than an actual TARDIS.

Just open up a vortex to Entertainment Earth, and you can buy one for $32.99(USD).

Star Trek: Prelude to Axanar Hits Kickstarter Goal in Just 14 Hours

The independent fan film Star Trek: Prelude Axanar launched on Kickstarter this past Saturday to raise funds. The goal was a modest $10,000(USD) and it was a 30-day fundraiser, so they figured the goal would be hit, but they didn’t expect it to happen so quickly.

The goal was reached in just 14 hours, so I think it is safe to say that Star Trek fans really really want this. Now the $15,000(USD) and $20,000(USD) stretch goals have also been met within the first two days, and it’s still going strong.

Axanar refers to the planet at the border of Federation and Klingon space where the Battle of Axanar (mentioned in TOS) took place. Garth of Izar, the legendary Starfleet captain who was Captain Kirk’s hero, is captain of the USS Ares and is the central figure for Prelude and an upcoming feature film to be created by the same team (to be funded by its own Kickstarter project.)

Prelude to Axanar will be a short historical look at the events leading up to the battle, and it will be the central event of the film Axanar, which will film later this year. Prelude to Axanar will show how Starfleet built its fleet, how they held off a Klingon fleet that had been conquering star systems for centuries and how did Garth of Izar came to be regarded as the greatest Starfleet Captain.

This is proof that people want a new Star Trek. Badly. I can’t wait to see this one myself.

Darth Vader and Stormtrooper Salt & Pepper Shakers: Your Lack of Seasoning is Disturbing

You know what’s odd? We never ever saw Darth Vader or any of his Stormtroopers stop for a meal. You’d think battling the Jedi-Rebel Alliance and building Death Stars (yes, plural) would work up a mean hunger. And if you are gonna eat a meal, it better be seasoned well. At a bare minimum, you need some salt and pepper.

I think that it’s more likely that the Jedi would use these Darth Vader and Stormtrooper salt and pepper shakers since they kind of reduce the Empire to a role of simple servitude. Naturally, the Vader shaker holds pepper, while the Trooper holds salt.

So use The Force to open another browser tab and head over to Convenient Gadgets & Gifts to order a pair now for $19.95(USD). Now I want a Darth Maul shaker for my chili powder. And Grand Moff Tarkin for cumin. And Count Dooku for oregano.

Play Doctor Who Pac-Man: Wakka Wakka Exterminate!

Two of the world’s greatest things have come together in a new game that will blow your mind and distract you from the things you should be doing instead. Doctor Who Pac-Man. Need I say more?

DeviantARTist maxtervamp made this Doctor Who Pac-Man flash game that you can play online right now. It’s just like the original Pac-Man that you know and love, but with a TARDIS and Daleks instead of ghosts. The power pellets are sonic screwdrivers, naturally.

Chomping Daleks is fun. I have spent way too much time playing this already. Now it is your turn.

These steampunk versions of a Dalek and the Doctor’s TARDIS are really fun. And shiny! Emma J made these beautiful steampunk toys. She is a member of the Playmobil Collectors Club. I had no idea they had a collectors club, but now that I see what is going on over there, I’m in.

The outside of this TARDIS is a perfect match for that wood-themed console room that the 4th Doctor used occasionally. This is awesomesauce all over a rad burger. I want them so bad.

Full-Size TARDIS Replica Made from Cardboard

The Doctor Who merchandising machine has reached down bestowed us with yet another piece of swag. A new product is coming your way that is really cool and reminds me a bit of the box forts we made as kids. Rather than having to get out the markers and a steak knife to customize your own cardboard creation, all you have to do is put this one together.

The finished product is a life-size TARDIS replica. According to the product description, the cardboard TARDIS measures 55″ square and stands 180″ tall. That second dimension doesn’t sound right though. That would make the guy in the picture a 10-foot-tall giant. Also, this TARDIS isn’t any bigger on the inside. It’s exactly as it looks on the outside – minus the thickness of the cardboard.

You can pre-order the cardboard contraption from Urban-Collector for $224.99(USD). The estimated release for the cardboard TARDIS is May 2014. This would go very well with your TARDIS cat condo.

A Farscape Movie is Coming!

A decade ago, back before the name change when there were actually cool series on Sci-Fi Channel that had nothing to do with ghost hunting, Farscape was one of the coolest shows on the network. The series had some cool characters and was cancelled before many fans were ready for it to go.

farscape cast 620x348magnify

If you were a fan of Farscape, word is that a movie is in the works. The tip that a film is in the works from writer Justin Monjo. He is writing the script and the film will reportedly be directed by Brian Henson, son of Jim Henson. It’s unclear if we are talking theatrical release or made-for-TV movie.

The movie will follow the son of John and Aeryn, D’Argo Sun Crichton. I don’t recall much about a child from the series but apparently the film’s plot has D’Argo hidden by his parents on Earth because he possesses some kind of superpowers they don’t want evil aliens to know about. The core of the film is said to pick up when D’Argo is 19 and he ends up joining his parents on their spaceship.
