SimCity Update 7 Delivers Road Bridge And Tunnels

I am quite sure that despite the many issues that players of the most recent SimCity iteration had to go through, they endured it simply because of their love for the game. I too, was hooked by the SimCity bug back in my PC gaming days, but the last SimCity game that I gave a shot was SimCity 2000. Yeah, it was that long ago. Having said that, just like how games have gotten more and more complex, so too, do they reflect what goes on in the real world like the latest iteration of SimCity, with teething traffic problems cropping up. Here’s your chance to fix your city’s traffic problems with the latest update, which will deliver road bridges and tunnels to help alleviate the daily gridlock.

With SimCity update 7, Maxis has introduced bridges and tunnels to help you figure out a logistical solution to your sprawling metropolis’ traffic woes. Apart from that, there is also a spanking new raise/lower tool which is capable of increasing your city’s prospects one six meter increment at a time. Pressing ‘M’ will raise your road, while pressing ‘N’ will lower it. Do you think that this will help you enjoy your game a whole lot more?

SimCity for Mac arriving later this month, hoping for a smoother launch

We knew SimCity for Mac would be arriving at some point when Maxis and Electronic Arts announced the news earlier this year, and finally, after seeing a delay past its initial June launch, Mac gamers will be able to get their grubby little hands on the game starting on August 29, just six or so […]

SimCity for Mac arrives on August 29th

The splines of SimCity for Mac have been reticulating for longer than many mayors would like, but that’s about to change come August 29th, when the game officially hits online servers for download. The release of the Mac version — which costs $40 for the standard edition, or $60 for the deluxe version — allows EA to finally make good on its promise of cross-platform, multi-player city building. If you happen to own both a Mac and a PC, you’ll find that one purchase allows you to download both versions from EA’s Origin store. Naturally, we’re crossing our fingers that SimCity for Mac will have a smoother launch than its PC counterpart, but it seems that we’ll have a definitive answer by month’s end.

SimCity for Mac pushed back to August

SimCity for Mac pushed back to August

To put it mildly, the EA Maxis team has learned a few hard lessons about launching only when ready. The company is putting that theory into practice: it’s delaying the launch of SimCity for Mac from June 11th to August. The OS X version just isn’t “ready for primetime,” the company says. As compensation, all Mac buyers will get access to the recent Launch Park bonus that they’d otherwise miss. And Windows users, you’re still getting some TLC — EA Maxis has detailed the impending Update 5 release, which fixes some bugs while delivering big improvements to chat and trading. While SimCity still hasn’t shaken its rocky reputation, it’s clear that the developers are determined to (eventually) set things right.

EA points toward SimCity sales as high point in recent quarter

Electronic Arts has reported its Q4 2013 earnings, and the company boasted a $1.04 billion revenue, which is up from $977 million a year ago. Net income also saw a growth from last year, with $169 million in cold, hard profit for the quarter, compared to $56 million during the same quarter last year. However, it was the game sales that EA really wanted to show off.

Since the game’s launch in March, SimCity has sold over 1.6 million copies so far, even despite the fiasco that erupted during launch. EA says that half of these sales were from digital downloads, meaning that 800,000 copies of the game were sold through EA’s Origin gaming service alone, which is quite impressive.

As for other games that EA highlights, FIFA 13 has sold over 14.5 million copies in EA’s fiscal year 2013 so far, and EA says that Battlefield 3 Premium has over 3.5 million subscribers to date. As for the company’s latest iOS game, Real Racing 3 has seen more than 30 million downloads, and has been averaging over 2.5 million daily active users since its launch.

Despite all the hate that EA has been getting lately, including its “Worst Company in America” award for the second straight year, EA claims that they were the number one publisher in “Western retail markets” during the past quarter, as well as the number one publisher in the world when it comes to iOS games. Sales speak for themselves, we suppose.
