Google driveGoogle Drive Really Launches
The long awaited Google Drive has launched, but is a little disappointing for me. Ahead of the Facebook IPO some interesting financial data has been slipping out. One of the more interesting stats is that Facebook makes around $4.69 per user per year. When you multiply that by the 901 million active users that works out to be a nice chunk of change.

Microsoft rolled out SkyDrive for the Windows Desktop last week, and in doing so they also cut back the amount of storage non-paying users get from 25GB down to 7GB. Fortunately when existing users login to their accounts they will be given the option to bump their storage back up to the 25GB for free. So you should login now to grab it before they take that option away.

Microsoft Introduces OneDrive As A SkyDrive Rebrand

onedriveThere is nothing quite like a rebranding exercise once in a while to make sure that your product remains fresh in peoples’ memories, not to mention ensuring that it enters into the consciousness of many. Microsoft has just rebranded their cloud storage service to OneDrive, where it was formerly known as SkyDrive. This move came about after the software giant had a dispute with British Sky Broadcasting Group (BSkyB) concerning the SkyDrive moniker. SkyDrive Is Now OneDrive, Until Microsoft Gets Sued Again

Microsoft’s SkyDrive is a terrific little cloud service that doesn’t get as much attention as it deserves. Unless, of course, it’s being sued by British Sky Broadcasting Group over its name. But now SkyDrive will be called OneDrive, for just as long as is legally allowable.

Microsofts Early Christmas Present: 20GB Of Free SkyDrive Storage For WP users

Christmas is just around the corner and people are busy with shopping and wrapping of gifts that they intend to give out. It is certainly going to be a festive time and even Microsoft has pitched into the holiday festivities. Redmond has sent out an email, which actually comes as a rather early Christmas present. The company is offering 20GB of free SkyDrive storage to people who use Windows Phone devices.

The email invites Windows Phone owners to activate the 20GB free bonus SkyDrive storage, they have until the end of January to claim this generous gift. It goes without saying that SkyDrive has become a crucial part of Microsoft’s entire ecosystem, and offering free storage only gives people more on an incentive to start using its cloud storage service, while those who already do will no doubt be overjoyed with an additional 20GB of storage in their accounts. Microsoft has been rather generous lately, with regards to offering free SkyDrive storage. It already offers 200GB free for two years with every purchase of its new Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets. The free cloud storage will be good for an entire year. So if you do own a Windows Phone, it would certainly serve your own interest to claim your free 20GB SkyDrive storage.
