Last year a preview version of Skype integration into Outlook.com was rolled out to users in select markets. What it allows users to do is that they can tap into Skype without actually having to leave their Outlook inbox, this eliminates the need for launching the standalone Skype app when you need to make a call, the magic happens within the inbox itself. Today the Skype team announced that Skype for Outlook.com is now being rolled out to all users across the globe, and that some improvements have also been made to further enhance the user experience.

Microsoft has picked up Skype slightly more than two and a half years ago for quite a hefty sum, but it does seem as though they have not been the fastest off the blocks to take over the app. While Skype was integrated into both the Windows and Windows Phone platforms in a relatively speedy manner, the software giant has not been that fast in pushing it out to all Microsoft account options. Again, the all new Skype update for Windows Phone has done away with your previous Skype login. Meaning, you will now be required to have a Microsoft account in order to login.

Skype has been quite the VoIP app that has plenty of staying power over the years, and I am quite sure that many happily married couples today have had the privilege of using this particular app in the past to keep in touch, especially when they are separated by thousands of miles. “Have Internet, will Skype” could be the mantra for the connected generation. Well, here we are with word that Skype will be offering an app that has been fully customized for the recently introduced Nokia X family, although it has been reported that the Nokia X is not going to make its way over to the U.S.

There is nothing quite like having a new update for existing software to bring it up to speed with the rest of the market. Skype has proven to be quite the useful tool when it comes to communicating with family and friends, especially those who are living thousands of miles away from you, and yet are able to carry out a video conversation with ease. I know that Apple has their own FaceTime, but with Skype, it is device agnostic, which gives it a huge plus in our books. Skype for iOS version 4.17 has just been released, and this latest version comes with support for push notifications.
