LG G2 ships to six Canadian carriers on September 27th

Canadians won’t have to wait long for their version of the LG G2. The 5.2-inch smartphone is now due to reach Bell, Rogers, Sasktel, Telus, Videotron and Wind Mobile on September 27th, two days after it launches on T-Mobile in the States. The carriers haven’t yet divulged pricing, although we’re not expecting Bell, Rogers or Telus to charge much more than $200 on contract, like some of their American counterparts.

LG Nexus 5 appears as Verizon LG G2 variant at FCC

There should be little doubt that Google is planning on continuing their Nexus smartphone program well into the future – that much is clear. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 reaches the FCC with AT&T- and Sprint-compatible bands

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 reaches the FCC with AT&T- and Sprint-compatible bands

We’ve seen a few international Galaxy Note 3 models pass through the FCC for approval; now, it’s time for two American versions. The first variant, the SM-N900A, has just cleared the US agency with support for AT&T’s GSM, HSPA and LTE frequencies — most likely, it’s a peek at what we’ll see on October 1st. A second model, the SM-N900R4, appears destined for LTE-capable CDMA carriers such as Sprint, US Cellular and numerous regional US providers. While there are no surprises in the FCC filings, it’s evident that Samsung’s giant Android smartphone will soon be ubiquitous in the States.

Motorola’s US factory now shipping 100,000 Moto X phones a week

Motorola's US factory now shipping 100,000 Moto X phones a week

If you’re anything like us, you’re wondering just how well Motorola’s Fort Worth factory is coping with demand for Moto X smartphones. The answer? Well enough, thank you: CEO Dennis Woodside just told Reuters in an interview that the US-based plant is shipping about 100,000 Moto X units each week. While that’s nowhere near the millions of units that Apple or Samsung would ship in a similar space of time, Woodside notes that the factory is still ramping up. Current numbers also don’t reflect sales, since only some devices already have buyers. We’d add that Motorola is targeting just a handful of countries versus the global scale of its rivals. It’s doubtful that the company’s Fort Worth production will ever come close to that of manufacturing hubs like Shenzhen, but there’s early signs that the American factory is here to stay.
