Musician Will.i.am is many things. He’s a singer, producer, happens to be on Intel’s payroll and has even created iPhone accessories. Now most of the time celebrities just lend their names to a brand and get a big cheque in return, they don’t necessarily dabble in what that particular brand does. Though it looks like Will.i.am has got some interest in the wearable market. He recently stopped by a British talk show and showed off his smartwatch. Will.i.am says its going to launch this July.

Remember the other day we reported that the latest Pebble 2.1 update essentially bricked the smartwatch? The update basically turned the smartwatch into a regular watch as all it could do is tell the time and whenever the app was launched, it would crash. Thankfully Pebble has fixed the issue and has since released a newer update that should solve the problem.
Pebble has released version 2.1.1 of the update for its iOS app that should fix the issue with version 2.1. Is the iWatch real? At the moment it seems like the device is merely a rumor and we have no way of knowing if it really exists, but as the saying goes, when there’s smoke, there’s fire. Recently a report from the Financial Timesseems to confirm that, according to a quote from Jean-Claude Biver, president of Watches and Jewelry at LVMH, “Apple has contacted some of my employees – I saw the emails personally.”
However it seems that despite Apple’s reputation and size, it looks like not many in the watch industry are particularly inclined to work with them, at least that’s based on the feedback that some watch companies have given. In the case of LVMH, Biver said that his employees have since rejected Apple’s advances. (more…)
