The credentials for two million compromised accounts for social media sites and other websites have been posted online. They include credentials for Facebook, Yahoo, Google, Twitter, LinkedIn, a payroll service, and many others. The security breaches are believed to have been made possible through malware installed on user computers, not weaknesses in the websites themselves. […]
Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." From Coursera offering first-rate college courses free of charge, to OpenStudy bringing together study buddies across the world, to Irynsoft bringing school to the palm of your hand, here are some innovative companies seeking to change the world by equalizing educational access.
With the rise of social networking, there is a huge supply of content coming from “celebrities” of all kinds. A Korean startup called Lasso & Company is trying to capitalize on a global flavor of (healthy) celebrity stalking, by not only aggregating the social network updates of celebrities, but also asking the crowd to either translate the updates in their own languages, or vote on the available translations. By doing so, they open celeb’s reach to a potentially new worldwide audience, since updates are nearly always posted in the celebrity native language. Thanksgiving. Hanukkah. Two holidays largely centered around bringing loved ones together over delicious traditional foods. Put them together, whip up a portmanteau-licious hashtag (#Thanksgivukkah), and you’ve got the recipe for a record breaking day on Instagram.
When it comes to gifts, it’s better to skip generic presents and find something that its intended recipient would really want and use. Otherwise, the entire thing is basically meaningless.
Now you can take things one step further by making the wrapping paper itself just as special, with PicPaperie’s customized wrapping paper.
PicPaperie is essentially a service that lets folks like you and me print custom gift wrap. The twist is that it uses images obtained from Instagram.
It’s a neat way of customizing gifts, since you can wrap up a gift for your friend that’s covered in images of her pets or her face, in case she’s really into selfies.
PicPaperie recently wrapped up a campaign on Indiegogo. You can find out more about the service by checking out their website.
