If you’ve been browsing around Twitter this evening and something seemed different, you’re right — an update has rolled out that brings photos in all their glory to users’ feeds. Now when scrolling, most images will show up in a large preview window, showing a large portion of what the image is and leaving the […]
This week the folks at Google have introduced a total of 18 new features to the Google+ social network, including a new “Auto Awesome” feature for movies. This feature takes the same feature that’d been introduced for Google+ photos and applies it – in a unique movie way – to movies uploaded to Google+. This […]
One thing so many users complain about Facebook is its privacy settings – or lack of consistency thereof. The social network’s privacy policy has been changed and updated so many times over the last few years that I’m not sure what parts of my profile I can fully hide or control anymore.
Spotting the humor in the whole situation are the folks behind the Realistic Facebook Security Simulator. The fact that it’s got the word “realistic” in the title means that it’s not.
Basically, you’re tasked with answering a series of questions regarding what you share on the social network, and you have to answer fast because you’ve only got 20 seconds before the timer expires and new privacy settings are rolled out. The questions and answers are sometimes confusing – but maybe they made it that way to test if you’ll still know what should be done if you’re drunk or too sleepy to think clearly.
So what are you waiting for? Check the simulator now and see how well (or how badly) you’ll fare.

In December of last year, information surfaced claiming that Facebook would be rolling out video advertisements by this past summer, and later on in July, sources stepped forward claiming the social network could be rolling out TV-style ads by the end of this year. According to the latest batch of sources, however, this has changed, […]
Facebook has removed a graphically violent video that had been circulating around the social network, reviewing its policies on sharing in the process so as to reduce the amount of controversial content that is posted without any warning or consideration of audience. The company prompted raised eyebrows when it surprisingly permitted the sharing of a […]
As popularity among younger users slides for the social network, Facebook has made some changes specifically for its 13 to 17-year-old users in an effort to be more enticing. Starting today, minors will now have the ability to set posts to public, making them visible to anyone who takes a gander at their profile, as […]
Social media plays a big part in people’s lives these days. Not just in their personal lives, but also in what they do for a living as well. If you’re one of those people, then you might be interested in the social media-themed business card generators by Stephen Ou.
Over on SocialBusinessCard you can generate business card designs patterned after three of the largest social networks are available: Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Creating your own personalized car using these designs is pretty easy. Just choose which one you want, link your actual social media account using the site’s app, and your card will be generated right after, using your digital profile as a starting point.
After editing the text on the card, you can then choose to upload the custom card design to your business card maker of your choice.
The most impressive part? Stephen just graduated high school, and already has launched several other successful online apps.

In 2012, Facebook announced that users who never took advantage of the “Who can look up your Timeline by name?” feature would lose access to that search setting option, which had been around for a while and was swapped out with different options. Those who were using the setting could continue to do so, however, […]
The Windows Phone 8 Facebook app has received its latest update, bringing it up to version 5.1. With the update — which is pretty substantial — users gain access to a variety of new functionality they otherwise have to use the Web for, including the ability to unfriend those no longer wanted on an account. […]
When I first heard of Facebook, Friendster was still all the rage. I didn’t care much for it and only went online on Facebook because somebody gave me these virtual pets that you were supposed to take care of. I eventually deleted my account and moved on… until I went back and signed up again to become the site’s 47,728,103th user.
So when did you get on the Facebook trend relative to other users and relative to your friends? You can find out by checking out The Faces of Facebook. The site features an interactive gallery of all the profile pictures of Facebook’s 1 billion plus users on its front page. You can click any tiny square to zoom in and see whose profile occupies a certain position.
You can also authorize the site’s corresponding Facebook app to access your account and determine if you are among the first or the last in the social network’s massive pool of worldwide users.
