Sony Has Difficulty Meeting Demand For The PS4

Sony Has Difficulty Meeting Demand For The PS4Earlier today, we did talk about how well the Sony PS4 is doing at the moment worldwide, where the consumer electronics giant has reported that the total sales figure for the Sony PS4 has passed the 7 million mark – and still counting, of course. After all, who are we to argue with a console that actually sold a million units in a matter of 24 hours? Having said that, this is a silver lining in the dark cloud that Sony is in, as the company continues to see its bottom line hit by the decline in TV and camera demands. While sales of the Sony PS4 has been robust to cross the 7 million mark, it does seem as though the company is having trouble meeting the continued strong demand for the next generation video game console.

According to Andrew House, president and group chief executive officer of Sony Computer Entertainment, “Although we are still facing difficulties keeping up with the strong demand worldwide, we remain steadfast in our commitment to meet the needs of our customers.”

We do hope that Sony will be able to meet the strong demand worldwide with its existing production lines, otherwise they might end up losing potential sales to their immediate rival, the Xbox Onedone quite well for itself by the way, helped along by triple A titles such as Titanfall), because some gamers are less patient than others.

Sony’s PS4 Sales Crosses The 7 Million Mark

Sonys PS4 Sales Crosses The 7 Million MarkIt is no secret that Sony’s PlayStation 4 is doing very well, but how well are we talking about? Well according to Sony who have recently announced their latest figures, it seems that they have managed to sell over 7 million consoles to date.

It appears that things have been progressing pretty well for Sony. Back in November 2013, Sony announced that they managed to sell 1 million units in 24 hours. It was also later announced in February that Sony had sold 5.3 million units, and here we are a couple of months later where Sony announces that they have passed the 7 million units sold mark.

Now we know that there is a difference between units sold to consumers and units sold to retailers, so it should be noted that Sony mentions that the 7 million mark is sold to consumers, as opposed to retailers whose numbers are probably a little higher than that. So how does Sony fare against the competition from Microsoft’s Xbox One?

Unfortunately Microsoft has not updated its figures since January 2015 but according to reports, Microsoft has enjoyed a boost in Xbox One sales, thanks to the launch of Titanfall which at the moment is an exclusive to the Xbox platforms and the PC. In any case good on Sony for hitting those numbers and we can’t wait to see what those numbers might be when the PlayStation 4 hits its 1-year anniversary.

Sony Xperia SP Users Experiencing Screen Flickering After Recent Update

As we’re sure many Sony Xperia SP owners know by now, their handsets will not be upgraded to Android 4.4. Instead the best that Sony will do for them is update it to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which we guess is still a pretty big leap considering that the phone launched with Android 4.1 when it was first released.

Now the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update has been pushed out back in February but in a recent update that Sony released to help squash some bugs, it seems to have created more problems for certain Sony Xperia SP owners instead, in the form of a flickering display which can prove to be pretty annoying and potentially battery-draining as well.

According to reports by Sony Xperia SP owners, it seems that post-update, they have begun to notice that their handset displays start to flicker which proves to be quite a distraction. So far there have been several methods attempted to fix this problem, such as checking if the screen protector is messing with the phone’s sensor, and some have even gone as far as flashing custom ROMs to see if maybe it could be an issue with the software (no luck).

One of the ways to go about getting rid of this is to revert back to older builds of Android. Sony has yet to comment on the issue but if you’re wondering how the flicker looks like, check it out in the video above for the details. So, any of our readers with Xperia SP handsets experiencing this flicker issue as well?

God Of War Collection Arriving For The PS Vita

God Of War Collection Arriving For The PS VitaThe God of War franchise has been pretty much a staple when it comes to games exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation platform, a franchise which we’re sure made many gamers take out their wallets and purses to purchase a PlayStation console or a PS Vita handheld console just for the game specifically (much like how Titanfall helped boost Xbox One sales).

That being said, the good news for PS Vita gamers is that Sony has recently announced that the God of War Collection will be making its way onto the PS Vita in the coming weeks and will be available for purchase starting on the 6th of May. For those unfamiliar with the God of War Collection, this bundle will include the original God of War and God of War II.

The God of War Collection will also be priced at $29.99 which is also the same price as the bundle meant for the PlayStation 3. If you have completed either game but would like to relive some of the more classic moments on the game on your PS Vita, then this is a title you’ll want to keep an eye out for, so mark your calendars for the 6th of May if you want to get your hands on it!

Mysterious Sony D6603 Spotted In Screenshot

Mysterious Sony D6603 Spotted In ScreenshotSmartphone OEMs typically release flagship devices once or twice a year at most, and in between they tend to release devices that aren’t as powerful with low-mid ranged specs to appeal to a broader group of customers, which is why a recently leaked screenshot for a certain Sony D6603 has us scratching our heads and wondering what could be Sony’s game plan?

The image was originally spotted on Digi-Wo which revealed the model number D6603. This model number has been sighted before on benchmarks which revealed the handset to pack specifications that are very close to Sony’s latest flagship handset, the Sony Xperia Z2 (D650X).

This means that the D6603 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset clocked at 2.3GHz, an Adreno 330 GPU, a Full HD 1080p display, a 20.7MP rear-facing camera, 16GB of onboard storage, and the interesting part is the only difference would be its RAM, with the D6603 sporting 2GB versus the Xperia Z2’s 3GB. Other than that both devices appear to be identical.

We should note that benchmark results can be faked so there is a chance that the benchmark results might not have been the real deal. Some have also speculated that the D6603 might be a prototype device that might not even make it to the market, while others think that the D6603 might be an Xperia Z2 variant destined for another carrier or other markets. Either way its specs are still relatively high-end meaning that we doubt the phone would be marketed as a low-cost alternative to the Xperia Z2.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but until more evidence surfaces, we’ll just have to speculate. In the meantime we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for more info, so do check back with us at a later date to see if there are any additional details that can be had.
