Sony Predicts The PS4 Will Outsell The PS3

Sony Predicts The PS4 Will Outsell The PS3The Sony PlayStation 3 was released back in 2006, meaning that it has been around for about 7 years now. The console has also managed to sell about 80 million units to date, and with plenty of PS3 titles still around, we expect sales of the console to continue for a while despite the PS4 having recently been released just last month. Now 80 million consoles is definitely no laughing matter, but speaking to MCV, Sony’s Andrew House stated that he believes the PS4 console will be able to outsell the PS3, although he did not state how long it would take. PS4 Reaches 6.5 Million ‘Shares’ Since The Console’s Release

PS4 Reaches 6.5 Million Shares Since The Consoles Release

One button I honestly didn’t think I’d get much use out of when I was first considering purchasing the PlayStation 4 was the DualShock 4’s “Share” button, which sits to the left of the controller’s touchpad. Now that I’ve played a couple of games on the PlayStation 4, I can tell you there’s nothing more I like to do than share some moments from my gaming sessions, and it looks like I’m not alone in this feeling, according to Sony. PS4 Prank Takes A Wrong Turn, Prankster Has The Tables Turned On Him

With the Sony PlayStation 4 being high in demand right now, tensions are understandably running pretty high and we suppose a great way to prank your friends is to trick them into thinking that you’re about to smash their brand new PS4 console with a hammer in a game of roulette! Well this is pretty much what they attempted to do in a New Zealand television show which is hosted by comedians Jono and Ben. The idea is to try and prank Ben into thinking that his PS4 had gotten smashed in a game of roulette, but little did Jono know the tables were turned and well, we suppose this is something you’d have to check out for yourself!

We’re not sure if this entire thing was staged, but basically Jono was pranked in return and instead of smashing Ben’s brand new PS4 (which still had the “new console smell” according to Ben), something else precious got smashed instead. Personally if I were Jono I would be a bit upset to have this happen to me, but he seemed to take it in great stride, leading us to believe that it might be staged. Either way if you have a couple of minutes to spare, you might want to check out this PS4 prank that went wrong (or right?).

Gran Turismo 6 Microtransactions Cost Detailed

Gran Turismo 6 Microtransactions Cost Detailed

We reported last month that Gran Turismo 6, “the most realistic driving simulator year,” according to Sony, supports microtransactions. This is the first title in the series that supports microtransactions or in-game purchases. Gamers will be able to purchase in-game virtual currency which can be used to purchase cars and parts. Called credits, they are available in 500,000, 1 million, 2.5 million and 7 million denominations. They cost €4.99, €9.99, €19.99 and €49.99 respectively.

The Gran Turismo 6 title is exclusive to the Sony PlayStation 3 and its release is just around the corner. The game is going to be released on December 6. While purchasing in-game currency offers gamers the easy way out when it comes to purchasing cars and partners, gamers will still be able to accumulate in-game currency by completing races. Credit can be purchased through the PlayStation Store as well as brick-and-mortar retailers. Some gamers might aruge that by offering microtransactions, the game’s progression system has been affected. However, Sony is of the view that Gran Turismo 6 microtransactions offer an alternative route for those who don’t want to ride along for the lengthy progression. For example if a gamer wishes to purchase the Jaguar XJ13, one of the most expensive cars in the game, they can either play long enough to accumulate 20 million credits or simply drop some money and buy credits to purchase the car.

Gaikai PS4 Streaming Service Will Work With PS3 And PS Vita Too

Gaikai PS4 Streaming Service Will Work With PS3 And PS Vita Too

Sony made it clear when it first unveiled the PlayStation 4 earlier this year that the new console will not be backwards compatible, meaning that gamers would not be able to pop in PS3 game discs into the console to play those titles. However, PS4 owners will be able to play PS3 games thanks to Sony’s Gaikai streaming service, which would allow gamers to stream PS3 titles from the cloud. Sony’s recent announcement about PS4 global sales also reveals that the GaiKai PS4 streaming service will work with the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita as well.

The way this service would work is that gamers will have to pay a subscription fee to have access to “a catalogue of critically acclaimed PS3 games on PlayStation 4 and PS3, followed by PlayStation Vita.” The service would let them play those titles by simply streaming them from remote service, gamers won’t have to locally install those titles. So despite the fact that PS3 discs are not compatible with PS Vita and PS4, gamers will still be able to play those titles after paying a monthly subscription fee. Sony hasn’t provided an exact timeframe during which we can expect the service to go live, it has only said that Gaikai will be available in the U.S. next year, gamers in the UK might have to wait until 2015.

Sony Sells Over Two Million PS4 Units In Two Weeks

    ps4 game

After revealing that Sony had sold 250k PS4 units in the UK over opening weekend, the company has finally announced global sales over the past two weeks.

According to Sony’s PlayStation blog, the company sold 2.1 million units of the PlayStation 4 in the past two weeks, starting on November 15th on launch day. Sony also mentioned that, in the first 24 hours of availability, the company sold one million units.

Here’s what Sony had to say about it:

It’s an impressive and record-setting accomplishment for our company and for our industry, and we couldn’t have done it without you. I want to personally thank PlayStation fans, both old and new, for your vote of confidence. The best part: the PS4 journey has just begun. In addition to an incredible line-up of PS4 games from the best developers in the world, we will continue to introduce valuable new features and services to PS4 in the months and years ahead.

Microsoft also sold 1 million units of the Xbox One in the first 24 hours of availability, with more widespread availability but $100 higher price tag.

However, the Telegraph is reporting that the PS4 is winning the popularity contest, at least in the UK.

Still, many gamers are giving these new consoles some time in the market before making a decision, so while the battle may have been won by Sony, the war is far from over.

PS4 sells 2.1 million units globally

Sony has been doing very well with its new next generation game console the PS4 since it launched last month in the US. The consoles have been in high demand and in short supply in the US. Sony has now announced that it has sold 2.1 million PS4 units globally. The 2.1 million units sold […]
