Sony Confirms Gran Turismo 6 Supports Microtransactions

Sony has announced that Gran Turismo 6, “the most realistic driving simulator yet,” is now available for pre-order of the PS Store. Customers can now get in their orders for the Standard Edition or the Special Edition. The latter contains Gran Turismo 6, 20 additional cards in Torque, Performance, Adrenaline and Velocity packs, custom PlayStation Network avatars, race suits, helmets and paint chips. Customers who pre-order any edition will get all cars included in the Precision Pack for free.

The company has also confirmed that Gran Turismo 6 is the first game of the entire series to support microtransactions, meaning that gamers will be able to purchase credit they can use in the game. In-game credits will be available for sale through the PS Store as well as brick-and-mortar retailers, the credits will be available in the 500,000, 1 million, 2.5 million and 7 million denominations. Gamers can use the credits to purchase cars, and they’ll obviously be able to earn credits within the game itself by completing races. However, those who don’t want to wait to purchase all of their favorite cars can take the easy way out and just purchase the credits. Gran Turismo 6, a title that’s exclusive to the PlayStation 3, will be released on December 6th.

Mistreated Foxconn Interns Claim To Have Sabotaged The Sony PS4 [Rumor]

Mistreated Foxconn Interns Claim To Have Sabotaged The Sony PS4 [Rumor]Foxconn has had a pretty bad rep when it comes to how they treat their workers, and last we heard they got into a spot of trouble when it was discovered that they had been hiring underage workers. Well it turns out that what goes around comes back around, as a new forum thread over at IGN has been opened for the Xi’an Technological University North Institute, where an alleged student made claims that due to Foxconn and their university forcing them to work at the factory, they decided to sabotage some of Foxconn’s products in the process, with the Sony PlayStation 4 being one of them.

According to the student’s post, “Since Foxconn are not treating us well, we will not treat the PS4 console well. The PS4 console we assemble can be turned on at best.” However another post surfaced claiming that the students were barely 1/10th of the workers at Foxconn, so they can hardly be blamed for any of the PS4’s faults. Since none of this can actually be verified, take with a grain of salt for now, but if anything it certainly seems to lineup with the various reports of the PS4’s “blue light of death” that have been making their rounds on the internet. What do you guys think? Is this a coincidence, or is someone merely trying to capitalize on the reports by creating this rumor?

Sony NEX-7 Successor Rumored For Early 2014 Announcement

Sony NEX 7 Successor Rumored For Early 2014 AnnouncementAccording to Sony Alpha Rumors’ sources, it seems that come early 2014 there is a very good chance that we will be seeing the Sony NEX-7’s successor. Given that CP+ in Japan is taking place mid-February, the publication believes that we could see the device announced around that time. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if you loved the NEX-7 and are wondering what sort of improvements Sony might have made with its successor, be sure to check back with us then for the details.

We have been hearing rumors about a possible NEX-7 successor since back in 2012 where the camera was rumored for a 2013 release, but given that we’re almost at the end of 2013 with no NEX-7 to show for it, safe to say those rumors did not pan out. It had been suggested that the “delay” could be due to production issues, while other reports claim that Sony’s new CEO was more interested in releasing cameras with innovative new features as opposed to mere incremental upgrades, which has usually been the case for several years now. Either way we’ll just have to keep an eye out for more details, but in the meantime what sort of features would you guys like to see in the NEX-7’s successor?

PlayStation 4 Foxconn sabotage rumors continue swirling

Sony recently launched the PlayStation 4 in North America. Console sales were described as being “very strong” and are said to have topped the one million milestone. But while those two pieces would suggest a smooth launch, there were some issues. Sony released a zero-day software update and that annoyance hit along with some bricked […]

Sony mulled an all-touch PS4 controller before settling on the DualShock 4

    Sony DualShock 4

The PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 controller may seem like the logical evolution of Sony’s gamepad design, but we now know that it wasn’t always destined to be that way. Product manager Toshimasa Aoki tells VentureBeat that the company threw out all the rules during the early design phase, and had tested both all-touchscreen gamepads as well as one where a touchpad could move to different locations. The PlayStation team had also considered abandoning its signature bottom-mounted analog sticks in favor of moving them up top, much like Nintendo’s Wii U Pro Controller. However, feedback pushed Sony to a more conservative layout — many early PS4 game developers were worried that a new control scheme would break their software design. While it’s unfortunate that Sony had to restrain its creative impulses, we suspect that many gamers are happy with the end result.
