I think every gamer on the planet knows at this point that the Sony PlayStation 4 will launch this month. Ahead of the official launch of the Sony PlayStation 4, Sony’s president of worldwide studios for Sony Computer Entertainment, Shuhei Yoshida, tweeted today that the PlayStation app is now available in North America on the […]

Sony Xperia Z1S Camera Sample Leaked

Sony Xperia Z1S Camera Sample LeakedSo, we have heard that there was a device from Sony which was known as the Sony Xperia Z1S that appeared over on Sony’s site for but a moment recently. This particular “boo boo” was taken down not too long after it was discovered, which has already led to many folks taking a stab at Sony making an official announcement concerning the Sony Xperia Z1S. Seriously, very little is known about this smartphone, but it does seem that we might have something a little bit more to chew on this time around, and that would be a leaked image that comes with .EXIF data which points to a Sony D5503 device, where some sources have already stepped forward to claim that this is very well the Xperia Z1S that comes under Sony’s new flagship numbering scheme.

According to the .EXIF data, it does point to a 14.2.A.0.204 firmware version, which so happens to be based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, although that too, has yet to be confirmed. What do you think of the Sony Xperia Z1S, and do you think that this will continue in the waterproof vein of its predecessor? Only time will tell, which is why we do hope for an official announcement sooner rather than later.

PlayStation 4 digital game sales expand beyond PSN

It would appear that the folks at Sony responsible for finding the best way to expand sales of their console and the games that are sold for the console therein have decided that keeping digital means of buying to themselves was no longer the best means of playing along with the public. Much like heavy-hitter […]

Who would actually buy Microsoft’s Xbox division?

Last week, a report surfaced suggesting that Stephen Elop, the man who many believe will take over for Steve Ballmer as Microsoft’s next chief executive, would consider selling off the software giant’s Xbox division to focus its efforts on Office and other key platforms that tend to make it more money. The announcement was a […]

Sony May Or May Not Record Your PSN Voice Chats Or Text Messages

Sony May Or May Not Record Your PSN Voice Chats Or Text MessagesGiven that your voice chats and text communications done through Sony’s PSN obviously goes through Sony’s servers, it is possible for Sony to listen in and perhaps even record down the things that you do, and while Sony has stated that they are not planning to do that, they did express that they do retain the sole discretion of doing so without ever telling you. For the most part we’re sure that the messages and voice chats done over PSN are innocuous in nature, perhaps a lot of swearing about who’s going to kick whose ass and so on, but in the event that an illegal activity takes place and if law enforcement requires said recordings, Sony will have no problems turning that information over.

According to the PlayStation 4’s update Software Usage Terms, “Your use of PSN and our community features may be recorded and collected by us or sent to us by other users as described in 13.1. Any information collected in this way, for example, your UGM, the content of your voice and text communications, video of your gameplay, the time and location of your activities, and your name, your PSN Online ID and IP address, may be used by us or our affiliated companies to enforce these Terms and the SEN Terms of Service, to comply with the law, to protect our rights and those of our licensors and users, and to protect the personal safety of our employees and users. This information may be passed to the police or other appropriate authorities.” For the average gamer this is probably a non-issue, but something worth taking into consideration anyway.

Metal Frame For A Mysterious Sony Xperia Handset Spotted

Metal Frame For A Mysterious Sony Xperia Handset SpottedWhile it is possible that Sony is currently focusing their efforts and gearing up for a launch of the Sony Xperia Z1s which was accidentally revealed on Sony’s website not too long ago, it seems that Sony might have another phone in the works with a metal band as part of its design, as pictured in the leaked image above which shows off the alleged component. It is unknown as to what phone this component will be part of, but it is possible that Sony might be getting ready for a new flagship device for 2014. After all the company announced the Sony Xperia Z at CES 2013 earlier this year, so it wouldn’t be a complete surprise if they were to announce a follow-up at CES 2014, unless of course the Xperia Z1 is considered the phone’s successor, in which case it would be a little early for a sequel.

Apart from the metal band component, which is familiar in design and suggests a Sony Xperia device, not much else is known. There was no scale provided but some have assumed that this will probably be in the 5” range, but other than that it’s pure speculation at this point in time. We’ll keep our eyes and ears peeled for more information regarding a possible new Xperia handset for CES 2014, but try not to get your hopes up just yet. In the meantime what do you guys think? Anyone looking forward to a sequel to the Xperia Z, or do you consider the Xperia Z1 its true successor?

PS4 Camera Cant Be Used To Turn On Console Through Voice Commands

Microsoft decided to include its new Kinect sensor with the Xbox One, while Sony has made the PlayStation 4 camera an optional purchase for those who want to be able to be seen by their console. With the Xbox One’s Kinect, you can carry out a multitude of voice commands, one of which allows you to wake the console while it’s not being used. Unfortunately, it seems the PlayStation 4 doesn’t share this same feature. (more…)

Sony Wants To Sell 3 Million PS4 Units Globally By Year-End

Sony Wants To Sell 3 Million PS4 Units Globally By Year End

Back in September, Sony had said they plan on selling a total of 5 million PlayStation 4 consoles by the end of its fiscal year, which is a number we could certainly see it doing, as long as the stars align just right. It seems the company has plans equally as big for this year as they are saying they’d like to sell a total of 3 million units of its PlayStation 4 worldwide by the end of this year. (more…)
