Possible Sony Camera Roadmap For 2014 Revealed [Rumor]

Possible Sony Camera Roadmap For 2014 Revealed [Rumor]It wasn’t too long ago that Sony took the wraps off their new full-frame mirrorless cameras, the Sony A7 and A7R and now according to Sony Alpha Rumors, they have managed to obtain Sony’s camera roadmap for 2014 although we’re not sure if this is the entire list of the devices planned, or if it is only a partial list, but given Sony Alpha Rumors’ track record of being spot on with their leaks and rumors, it’s worth taking a look at. According to their source, it seems that Sony will have a bunch of new and exciting cameras to show off in 2014, and will cater to both photographers who want a regular DSLR system, and to those who want a mirrorless system.

Assuming their sources are correct, come 2014 we can look forward to new APS-C E-mount cameras. One of these cameras is expected to be the successor of the NEX-7 (which has been rumored for a while now), and possible entry-level devices. We can also look forward to a new A-mount full-frame camera, new full-frame E-mount cameras, a potential hybrid A- and E-mount camera, and a slim chance of there being a APS-C A-mount device. The latter might be a no-show, but apparently there are prototypes in the works and it’s a matter of whether Sony thinks it’s ready for primetime. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if you’re a camera enthusiast, these are definitely devices worth looking forward to.

Sony Xperia Tianchi With 8 Core CPU Rumored

Sony Xperia Tianchi With 8 Core CPU Rumored

Sony may be working on a new mobile device, and its likely to be a phablet. According to reports coming in from China, the Sony Xperia Tianchi is a low cost phablet that is going to be released in the near future. The device is said to have a MediaTek MT6592 8 core processor. That’s just about it. These reports don’t mention any additional details about the hardware specifications of this phablet, and leave us guessing about Sony’s new device.

As is the case with rumors, the company itself has not confirmed or denied the device’s existence. As per rumors, the Xperia Tianchi might be launched on November 12th. Sony is also expected to launch yet another Xperia device at this event, the Xperia Z1S, which is basically a variant of the Xperia Z1 f that’s going to be exclusive to China. There’s no word as yet if the Xperia Tianchi, assuming that it does exist, will only be released in China. This isn’t the first time that Sony is going to use a MediaTek processor for a mobile device, the company has used a MediaTek CPU already in its Xperia C smartphone. Information on pricing is not available, and it is also not known if the Tianchi will see a broader roll out in major markets around the globe.

Sony Xperia Z1S Set To Be Unveiled In November

Sony Xperia Z1S Set To Be Unveiled In NovemberThere has been a rumor going around that Sony will hold an event this coming November 12th, and a tipster did leak over on a channel of Chinese social media that this particular event will be held in Shanghai, where we will see the rollout of the oft-rumored Sony Xperia Z1S, in addition to another device that has been codenamed as the Xperia Taichi.

Apparently, there was an official press image of the Sony Xperia Z1S that leaked out pretty recently, although that remained to be seen whether it would be the international version of the Xperia Z1 f that Sony had already launched in Japan. This particular smaller form factor of the Xperia Z1 has allegedly undergone a fair number of benchmark tests, where it showed off its processing muscle, easily making it the top performer in the ‘mini’ league.

The Sony Xperia Z1S is tipped to arrive with a 4.3” 720p display, a Snapdragon 800 chipset with quad-core CPU, as well as a 20-megapixel G-Lens camera. As for the Sony Xperia Taichi, there has been rumors going around that it will be a phablet which will occupy the mid-range scheme of things, where it featured a 6″ 720p display as well as a true octa-core MediaTek processor within. Well, we will just have to wait until November 12th to find out more.

PlayStation 4 Controller Works with PS3 Console: Shared Buttons

Good news for the PlayStation nation. It seems like the Dualshock 4 controller designed for the PlayStation 4 works with the PlayStation 3 console too. YouTuber Udetto, who writes for German gaming site Computer Bild Spiele, discovered the backwards compatibility while fiddling with a debug version of the PlayStation 4.

playstation 4 dualshock controller ps 3 compatiblemagnify

There is a catch however. Udetto says the controller will only work with the PS3 if it’s plugged in to the console via USB, which means that it won’t work with PS3 games that require you to play wirelessly. I don’t know of any game that has that requirement, but apparently FIFA 14 is one of those games. That’s really odd. Does that mean you can’t charge a PS3 controller and play FIFA 14 at the same time?

We should remember that Udetto’s discovery was with a prototype controller, and despite his positive findings it’s possible that the controller won’t work with many PS3 games. But since we can buy the controller without shelling out for the entire PS4, here’s hoping Sony can make this backwards compatibility official.
