Cambridge Audio announces Minx Air 100 and 200 wireless speaker systems

Ah, here we are with yet another two wireless speaker systems from the folks over at Cambridge Audio, where they have just announced the Minx Air 100 and Minx Air 200 wireless speaker systems for the masses. The adage of not judging a book by its cover would apply beautifully with these Cambridge Audio Minx Air 100 and 200 wireless speaker systems, where their diminutive size belies the fact that they can deliver powerful audio without missing a beat. In fact, this would mark the first time a Hi-Fi wireless speaker would carry integrated AirPlay, Bluetooth, and built-in Internet Radio connectivity, now how about that?

Thanks to the vast Hi-Fi expertise that the folks over at Cambridge Audio have, they claim that the audio quality which comes out from these two speakers are simply stunning. The Minx Air 100 and 200 have been specially designed to deliver maximum possible detail from stored tracks and streaming services. Thanks to the patented BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) speakers, your ears will be able to enjoy a rich sound which is more room-filling compared to similar-sized traditional speakers. BMR’s unique, hybrid design of pistonic and flat panel technology guarantees that you no longer need to look for the “sweet spot” in order to enjoy your music. Apart from that, there is a custom-developed digital amplifier that guarantees heart-thumping performance, even if you decide to crank up the volume.

Both Minx Air wireless speaker systems also boast of sophisticated Digital Signal Processing (DSP) that relies on advanced algorithms which were specially developed for music and movie production by Waves Audio. This would enable Cambridge Audio to obtain the biggest sound possible from Minx Air’s compact enclosure, at the same time delivering an experience which is louder, crisper and fuller compared to other portable systems that are in the market.

The Minx Air 100 is perfect for small spaces such as kitchens, bedrooms and living spaces, as it packs a 100W punch of power from a cabinet which measures just 14” wide. As for the Minx Air 200, it is more than capable of filling the largest rooms with crystal clear audio, thanks to a 200W set of digital amplifiers alongside a built-in active 6.5” subwoofer that delivers a supercharged audio experience which measures a mere 18” wide.

JBL Spark Bluetooth speaker uncovered at the FCC with wall mounting, retro looks

JBL Spark Bluetooth speaker uncovered at the FCC

JBL is known for its love of exotic speaker designs, but a new FCC approval suggests it’s about to turn back the clock for its next look. An unannounced Spark Bluetooth speaker appearing at the US agency wouldn’t look out of place at the top of a gramophone — albeit one draped in red plastic. It could also be part of the decor, as a manual in the filing suggests there’s support for mounting brackets. While the FCC filing doesn’t give away any launch details for the Spark, the 13W of total power hints that we won’t be paying a lot for our semi-retro audio.

Bang & Olufsen launches BeoLab 14 surround speaker system

When it comes to quality audio systems, regardless of whether it is at home or somewhere else, you know for sure that the name Bang & Olufsen is synonymous with quality and clarity, and there are no two ways about it. Well, it seems that the folks over at Bang & Olufsen have done it again, this time around with the delicious sounding BeoLab 14 surround sound speaker system, which also ushers in an entirely new category of speakers to the Bang & Olufsen family of devices.

The BeoLab 14 surround speaker system is said to be able to revolutionize the marketplace, where it would come across as a conveniently packaged, all-inclusive solution which delivers compact aesthetics, exceptional audio quality and a high-end surround sound performance. The BeoLab 14 will come in a 4.1 or a 5.1 digital surround sound set up, where you will get up to half a dozen individual active speakers, where each of them has its own amplifier, resulting in an unprecedented level of sound quality, never mind that the speakers themselves come in such a compact form factor. Not only that, the BeoLab 14 is also said to be able to play nice with the slew of other TV brands, making it non- exclusive to just Bang & Olufsen televisions alone, now how about that?

The BeoLab 14 is said to continue from its predecessors’ successes, where stunning performance is still delivered despite coming in a compact form factor. The satellite speakers on the BeoLab 14 happen to feature diminutive circles of anodized aluminum with exchangeable fabric covers in a range of colors (white, black, silver, dark grey, red and petroleum blue), where they can be easily integrated into even the most stringent interior design schemes. Not only that, the sculptural subwoofer holds separate amplifiers for all speakers in the system, which should allow it to pump up the bass volume from a beguilingly slender footprint. The new BeoLab 14 surround sound speaker system will cost $3,995 and $4,395 for the 4.1 solution and 5.1 solution, respectively.

Ultimate Ears EU Boom Bluetooth Speaker Tries to Stand out from the Crowd

I’ve become a convert of Bluetooth speakers, because of their usefulness and their multiple functions. Granted, I probably wouldn’t have bought myself one the first time out, but after reviewing a demo unit, I was sold on the concept. Streaming media from your mobile devices is just so easy. In the beginning, there were just a few. Now the market at the point of oversaturation. This speaker aims to stand out from the crowd with its durability, good looks, and stereo capability.

The UE Boom from Logitech’s Ultimate Ears boasts impressive sound and unlike other speakers, it’s supposed to be life-proof, thanks to a “plasma coating”. I honestly don’t know what that is. In my experience, a plasma is a superheated ionized gas. Regardless, the cylindrical speaker is dirt, dust, and IPX4 water-resistant, which should protect it from splashes and the occasional rainstorm.

As with most Bluetooth speakers, wireless range is about 50 feet, and is also compatible with NFC-enabled devices for instant pairing. It’s got two 1.5″ full range drivers, and two 2″ passive radiators, and also works as a speakerphone. The speakers have a battery life of about 15 hours and can connect to other EU Booms for a new stereo sound spectacular. The UE Boom speaker sells for $199.99(USD) and is available in a variety of colors.

This would mean you would be spoilt for choice when it comes to the amount of songs that you can listen to, and chances are you would not have enough time to go through the entire playlist in a single setting. The thing is, sometimes, you want to share your eclectic taste in music with your mates, and your smartphone’s speaker just ain’t cutting it. Good thing there are alternatives out there like the $99.95 Portable Solar Powered Speaker.

Klipsch unveils Music Center KMC 3 Bluetooth speaker

Klipsch has announced the launch of its first-ever Bluetooth speaker, the Klipsch Music Center KMC 3. This is the first of what will be a line of products in its newly launched Klipsch Music Center series, which was created, according to the press release, as a commemoration to its Live Nation Entertainment partnership and sponsorship of its amphitheater. The speaker is available for purchase now at $399.99 online, hitting stores this summer.

The KMC 3 is a 2.1 speaker that offers AAC Bluetooth and apt-X, as well as two 2-inch full-range drivers accompanied by a 5.25-inch subwoofer, all of it pulling 130 watts of energy. The company boasts about the device’s bass offering, saying it is both deep and realistic. The device can be used while plugged in or in a portable fashion via 8 D-cell batteries with a reported playing time of 26 hours per charge.

There’s USB for simultaneous charging and connectivity, as well as a 3.5mm standard audio jack for mp3 players and other devices that don’t have Bluetooth. The speaker can “remember” a maximum of 8 devices, keeping track of the last 8 that were connected rather than holding a library of specific devices. There’s a remote for wireless control of the speaker. It is being offered in both black and white.

Klipsch’s CEO Paul Jacobs said: “This product launch is extremely important given its connection with our commitment to live music. With the KMC 3 representing our first Bluetooth speaker, we’re eager to diversify our future offerings in the wireless audio category and help change the way individuals share the listening experience with one another.”
