BlackBerry Q10 With Sprint Branding Spotted

BlackBerry Q10 With Sprint Branding SpottedEarlier this year Sprint announced that they would be carrying the BlackBerry Q10, but not the Z10, although they did not provide any specific dates but rumors of a 30th August launch did surface. Well thanks to a newly leaked photo, the BlackBerry Q10 has been sighted with Sprint’s branding on the phone, suggesting that the phone could be primed and ready for an announcement in the near future.

The rumors also suggest that the phone is currently undergoing testing and it shouldn’t be too long until we get the official word. Given that it is not the end of the month yet, it seems as though the 30th of August rumored launch could very well pan out, although since nothing official has been announced, we suggest you not get your hopes up just yet. In any case other carriers have long offered the Q10 and since Sprint is lacking the BlackBerry Z10 that they would try and get out the Q10 as soon as possible. Either way better late than never, right? So, anyone planning on picking up the BlackBerry Q10 from Sprint upon its launch?

Werner Herzog directs documentary on dangers of texting and driving for It Can Wait campaign

Werner Herzog directs documentary on dangers of texting and driving for It Can Wait campaign

AT&T recently recruited none other than Werner Herzog to direct some short videos for the “It Can Wait” campaign to curb texting and driving, but their collaboration hasn’t ended there. The campaign, which also has the backing of Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile, has today released a 35-minute documentary by the legendary German filmmaker that delves further into the first-hand accounts of texting and driving dangers seen in the 30-second spots. Titled “From One Second to the Next,” the documentary is freely available online, and is also being distributed to more than 40,000 high schools and number of safety organizations and government agencies in the US.

As the Canadian Press reports, Herzog said that the project “immediately clicked and connected inside of me” when AT&T proposed it to him, adding, “there’s a completely new culture out there. I’m not a participant of texting and driving — or texting at all — but I see there’s something going on in civilization which is coming with great vehemence at us.” You can watch the full documentary after the break or on the It Can Wait website.

Sprint’s LG G2 Could Sport Tri-Band LTE Radios

Sprints LG G2 Could Sport Tri Band LTE RadiosSo we know that the recently announced LG G2 will be making its way onto the four major carriers, such as AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint, and while we presume that all the devices will be equal, it turns out that might not be the case as far as Sprint’s version is concerned. According to a recent FCC filing that shows off Sprint’s version of the LG G2, it has been suggested that perhaps the Sprint LG G2 will feature tri-band LTE radios, meaning that it should allow the phone to hook onto Sprint’s 800MHz spectrum that has recently been freed up due to Sprint shutting down the iDEN network.

What this means for Sprint subscribers is that it should allow them to have better network coverage as far as LTE connectivity is concerned, thus giving users of the phone a stronger and more reliable signal. This tri-band radio feature has made its debut in Sprint’s other products, such their latest MiFi and USB modem devices, so this isn’t exactly new. While this isn’t exactly a make or break feature, it certainly can be used by Sprint as one of its selling points.

LG G2 will launch on all four major US carriers

If you were worried that LG might launch an exclusive deal with one of the major US carriers for its new flagship G2 smartphone, you can breathe a sigh of relief. The company announced during the device’s launch that it’ll arrive on the Big Four stateside: Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon. Sprint said it was “thrilled” that the G2 would hit its 4G LTE handset lineup, while T-Mobile said it would be adding three LG devices to its lineup: the G2 plus the Optimus F6 and F3. T-Mob added that the F3 is now available for $0 down on its Simple Choice plan (for a limited time), and said that pricing and availability for the Optimus F6 and G2 would be available “in the coming weeks.” Verizon tweeted that LG’s flagship was “coming soon,” but AT&T has yet to officially chime in.

FreedomSpot 5580 hotspot device brings LTE to FreedomPop

FreedomPop makes a variety of data-bringing devices and hotspots, such as the Freedom Sleeve for iPod Touch released last summer. FreedomPop jumps to LTE, lets you run out of free data faster than ever

FreedomPop’s namesake free data hasn’t been especially fast given its reliance on WiMAX and EV-DO, but the company is taking a big step forward with just-launched support for Sprint’s LTE network. Those who buy the $149 FreedomSpot 5580 LTE hotspot (pictured above) can get truly high speeds without having to pay a cent for regular service. Future devices and LTE-friendly smartphone service are also coming, although there is a big catch. That free tier is still capped at 500MB per month — take full advantage of LTE and you’re more likely to either pay overage fees or switch to one of FreedomPop’s paid plans. Even so, the upgraded service may be tempting for those who aren’t willing to sacrifice performance at any price.

NetZero strikes deals to use Sprint LTE and Verizon 3G

NetZero strikes deals to use Sprint LTE and Verizon 3G

We like the idea of NetZero’s budget-friendly mobile broadband — just not its use of Clearwire’s small, aging WiMAX network. The provider should soon take care of that problem through new MVNO agreements with Sprint and Verizon. The five-year Sprint pact gives NetZero both LTE and EV-DO; the Verizon deal serves more as a safety net, supplying EV-DO alone for three years. Both agreements only take effect in the second quarter of 2014, but they should finally give the NetZero broad coverage and higher peak speeds that it needs to compete with more expensive rivals.

J.D. Power: AT&T unseats Verizon as customer care leader

AT&T is the absolute bee’s knees in customer care among the big four carriers. That’s if you’re listening to J.D. Power, anyway, which finds that longtime champion Verizon is no longer the best at solving its customers’ problems. As a precaution, this study is rather narrow in scope and considers just three components of customer care: telephone assistance, online support and in-store personnel. Naturally, this is just one component of customer satisfaction, and factors such as coverage, data speed and call quality aren’t considered — look to Consumer Reports for insight on those. Still, customer care is important and J.D. Power suggests that it’s now at its highest levels since 2009. Sadly, not everyone’s a winner, as the study also finds that Sprint and T-Mobile both fall below the industry average.

On the prepaid side, MetroPCS is keeping its position as the front-runner, but even more curious, it’s said that a whopping 69 percent of non-contract customers use carrier apps to manage their accounts. What’s more, customer satisfaction is reportedly considerably higher among prepaid carriers that provide these management apps to their subscribers. In this context, it seems that well-targeted bundled apps aren’t necessarily bloatware, but we still think its carriers should let you remove that stuff.

Moto X On Sprint Will Offer Lifetime Unlimited Guarantee Plan

Moto X On Sprint Will Offer Lifetime Unlimited Guarantee PlanFor those of you looking to get your hands on the recently announced Moto X by Motorola, you’re in luck because Motorola is looking to launch the device on 5 different US carriers, meaning that you won’t have to go with a particular carrier just to get the phone, or be forced to buy it unlocked. While the deals that other carriers are offering for the Moto X have yet to be fully shared, as far as Sprint is concerned, they have revealed that if you were to get the Moto X via their network, you will be getting the Lifetime Unlimited Guarantee plan.

Basically what this plan offers is unlimited minutes, texts, and data for life, at least as long as Sprint remains in operation, and this also means that should Sprint decide to cancel this offer in the future, you can rest assured that you will still be able to enjoy it long after that. According to Sprint’s Senior VP of Product Developer, Fared Abib, “Moto X is an exciting product that is highly anticipated by the market and will be a great option for customers looking to switch to Sprint and gain the value of the new device and also our unlimited lifetime guarantee.”

Sounds pretty awesome, doesn’t it? Unfortunately the downside is that Sprint will not offer the same level of customization as AT&T, so that’s something worth thinking about.
