Strategy Analytics: Sprint Will Be King Of Data Speed SoonOur world does seem to be obsessed with breaking records every single day, and when it comes to data speeds of your mobile or Internet line, you can be sure that forums and message boards alike will light up with different parties pointing out just why you ought to take their side. According to Strategy Analytics, a report that was issued by the research firm claimed that mobile carriers seem to be moving away from network coverage and tend to focus more on the speed of their data pipelines. Guang Yang, Strategy Analytics’ senior analyst for wireless networks and platforms, claimed that the TDD spectrum in the 2.5GHz band which Sprint acquired from Clearwire in 2013 could very well hold the key to enable Sprint to offer its customers with “super high speed data connections.”

AT&T CFO Skeptical About Sprint T-Mobile Merger

AT&T CFO Skeptical About Sprint T Mobile Merger

The entire idea behind a merger between Sprint and T-Mobile is to compete much more effectively against Verizon and AT&T. At least that’s the case the folks at Sprint and Softbank are trying to make. Regulators might not be so easily convinced. AT&T tried to buy T-Mobile US for itself back in 2011 for $39 billion but was shot down by regulators. The company’s CFO John Stephens is skeptical about the merger, he “doesn’t think” that its going to go through.

US Government Sues Sprint For Overcharging For Wire Taps

US Government Sues Sprint For Overcharging For Wire TapsThe government taps phones. That is not a secret. In fact it is well known since phone taps can be used to help incriminate suspects in criminal activities, as well as keep an ear open for any possible threats. In order to perform these wire taps, the government will need the cooperation of carriers, and in return the carriers are then reimbursed for their efforts.

However it seems that the US Justice Department is not too happy with Sprint’s bill of $21 million, which they claim to have been overcharged, and in return they are now suing Sprint because of it. They claim that Sprint had secretly included the expense of financing equipment from January 2007 to July 2010, which might explain the hefty bill. (more…)
