Final Fantasy VII Remake Could Be A Possibility

Square Enix must surely have been approached a fair number of times in the past, where they were asked about the possibility of remaking Final Fantasy VII – an original which many believed could never be surpassed in terms of the game’s greatness. Well, a new round of fresh rumors concerning a Final Fantasy VII remake has begun yet again, and this time around, the rumor’s source has been traced to NeoGAF member Verendus. Verendus claims to be an industry insider who has had a fair amount of hits in the past, where in an interview with Final Fantasy VII director Yoshinori Kitase, Kitase mentioned, “… you must believe me when I say it would take a lot to happen,” when posed with the eternal question of a Final Fantasy VII remake.

Future Final Fantasy Titles Could Arrive For PC

Future Final Fantasy Titles Could Arrive For PCWe’re sure there are Final Fantasy gamers out there who own consoles and have played many of the Final Fantasy titles in the past. Unfortunately for the most part, Final Fantasy titles have typically been limited to console releases, like the Final Fantasy 13 trilogy of games, along with the upcoming Final Fantasy 15 which will see a release on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 only. Well the good news is that perhaps future Final Fantasy titles, after FF15 presumably, will make its way onto the PC as well. This is according to Square Enix who has expressed their interest in bringing future Final Fantasy titles onto the PC.

If they have the interest, why haven’t they done it? Save for Final Fantasy 11 and Final Fantasy 14, the game’s producer Yoshinori Kitase explained it by saying, “As far as the technology is concerned, it would have been possible for us to make a PC version, but we decided against it for two reasons: we looked at the market situation and we didn’t think it would be a good idea, and also it would have involved lots of complex issues like security. So we decided not to do it this time around.” Kitase also adds, “So in terms of our hope of being able to deliver our games to every single country in the world and to as many gamers as possible, yes, we would definitely be interested in pursuing that route in the future.”

Final Fantasy VI Arrives On iOS

Final Fantasy VI Arrives On iOSEarlier in January, it was announced that Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VI made its way onto Android devices. This was a little odd given that Square Enix’s releases tend to be for both iOS and Android, and sometimes iOS first followed by Android. Well for whatever reason the iOS version was not released alongside the Android version, but the good news for iOS gamers is that if Final Fantasy VI is a game you’ve been looking forward to, you can now play it on your device as Square Enix has officially released the game for iOS. Tomb Raider On Xbox One And PS4 Share Same Assets, Says Square Enix

Square Enix, the publisher for Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, claims that the assets in that game for both the Xbox One as well as the Sony PS4 are similar, although I am quite sure that this is one debate which will not die down anytime soon. The publisher is adamant that both versions share similar quality textures, particles and models, and it would be interesting to see if someone else other than Square Enix would come up and agree with definitive proof, or otherwise.

Square Enix Discontinues Core Online Game Streaming Service

Square Enix Discontinues Core Online Game Streaming ServiceThe folks over at Square Enix has just discontinued its game streaming service which is known as Core Online, and this particular bit of news is a rather disappointing development – it has happened a mere 18 months after the Core Online service was launched. Apparently, what has been described as a “limited commercial take-up” resulted in the discontinuation of the Core Online game streaming service.

New Hitman Game Under Development At IO Interactive, Not Cancelled

New Hitman Game Under Development At IO Interactive, Not CancelledThe latest Hitman game, Hitman: Absolution, was released back in 2012 and if you were wondering about the fate of the franchise, you can rest assured it has not been cancelled entirely as Square Enix has confirmed that a new Hitman game, tentatively referred to as Hitman 6, is currently in development at IO Interactive. Earlier it had been reported that the game Square Enix had been working on had been cancelled. This was revealed by a LinkedIn profile of Richard Knight, a senior designer at the company, whose profile showed that the game had been cancelled back in 2013. Thankfully that is not the case as Square Enix has since stepped forward to clear any confusion.

According to a statement released by Square Enix, “IO Interactive is developing a new, AAA Hitman game that will be coming to PC and next-gen consoles and Square Enix Montreal is fully focused on mobile development of games some of which are related to the Hitman franchise. We look forward to sharing more details about these titles later this year.” Knight’s profile did mention something about mobile development but as it turns out, it’s a case of “and” and not “instead of” with regards to new Hitman-related games. Not much is known about the next Hitman game, but we guess fans can now breathe a sign of relief knowing that the game has not been cancelled, although how long we would have to wait for its release is still a mystery.
