Artist TJ Wilferd aka Unicron9 loves making custom action figures. Last year he boldly went and took Star Trek where the franchise hasn’t gone before – to the world of Transformers. He made an action figure that he calls Autobot E, a robot whose vehicle mode is the Starship Enterprise.
*cue transforming sound effect*
To take his creation to the next level, Wilferd even wrote a brief origin story for Autobot E. Capt. Picard and his crew were taking out the remnants of the Borg when they pick up a strange metal relic from one of the Borg’s ships. The relic then proceeds to take over the Enterprise and upgrades the ship. Eventually it directs the crew to Cybertron, which was being attacked by the Borg. A beatdown ensues and the adult Power Rangers win the day. I would love to see an animated short of that.

If you’re a fan of science fiction and Star Trek, I bet you’re really looking forward to the new movie hitting theaters in the next month or so. To go along with the video game, Paramount has announced that the Star Trek: The Video Game for console and PC gamers is now available at retail outlets. The game was designed in conjunction with NAMCO BANDAI Games America.
The game promises cooperative gameplay as players take the role of Star Trek heroes Captain Kirk and Spock. Players will fight and explore the universe aboard the USS enterprise as you fight the enemy Gorn. The video game uses voices from the movie including the voices of Chris Pine as Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock.
To succeed in the game players will have to work together and the developers behind the game say that this is the most expensive and authentic Star Trek experience ever developed for the video game platform. The video game uses costumes and set designs from the previous film and a musical score performed by a 100-piece orchestra. The game is based on an original story written by Marianne Krawczyk.
Other actors from the movie are also lending their voice talents the videogame including Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, John Cho as Sulu, Anton Yelchin as Chekov, and Karl Urban as bones. The game is available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for $59.99. Computer gamers can purchase the game as a digital download through Steam and other locations for $49.99. This week a touch and type combination notebook from Acer has appeared in the first product-toting teaser video spot for Star Trek Into Darkness that’s appeared in what’s set to be a several weeks-long dual-brand campaign. While from what we’ve been told Acer does not plan on having any products appear in the film itself, this cross-promotional teaser will benefit both Acer and the folks behind Star Trek. The film Star Trek Into Darkness is about to be released both in the United States and internationally, while the device appearing in the teaser is set to be revealed in full on May 3rd.
The setup for the release at hand has had its stage set by a series of three devices from Acer, each of them appearing in the home for this campaign: Explore Beyond Limits (dot com). This site has several wallpapers with a Star Trek theme and also shows the Acer Iconia W510, Aspire S7, and Aspire V5 Touch. With these three devices in mind, the trailer for Star Trek (with Acer device inside) should have you wondering what the future holds.
The notebook in the trailer above will once again be taking the touch-friendly interface created by Microsoft’s Windows 8 to an ever-so-slightly different place than Acer has gone before. From what we’re seeing here, this notebook will be coming with extended drag fins (or bumpers below the back of the bottom of the base), as well as a display that lifts up beyond the average limit of a notebook’s face.
It would appear that this machine’s touchscreen display and top hood lift up and turn back on a second hinge, allowing the entire notebook to become something that looks similar to the hero spaceship in the Star Trek movies and original Star Trek television show. This machine will have the capabilities of a tablet, a notebook, and some sort of in-between oddity, without a doubt.
This video also adds an interesting twist to the release schedule for Star Trek Into Darkness – let us know if you’re finding this particular push pleasing to your science fiction-loving mind, or if you prefer the regular plain-old trailer set instead?
If you want to know what’s going on in the Star Trek movie coming out near the middle of May, you’ve got two options today. You first option is to wait until May 17th and go to your local movie theater for some up-close-and-personal action like a normal, decent person. Your second option is to watch the newest trailer released for the film today, complete with more spoilers than you’ll feel clean about having watched.
What you’re about to read may make you cry – it’s riddled with what you might consider spoilers, or what you might consider near-spoilers that simply take the film to a new level of “must see” in your mind. The first big item revealed in the trailer released this week is the fact that the ship you’ve seen crash-landing into the water in previous trailers is, indeed, the Enterprise.
What you’ll find here is the markings of the one and only NCC-1701 A herself plummeting toward the planet Earth. You’ll also see the ship having gone into battle against our newest enemy, finding a much larger ship with essentially the same build facing off against the Enterprise, and that ship rising from the water after its crash. So you know the whole plot by now, right?
This film will be released in just under a month’s time and there, at last, you’ll find yourself seeing the full truth. Have a peek at our Star Trek tag portal for more information on the Star Trek Into Darkness release and stay tuned for the final drop!
Little known Star Trek fact. Spock finds human beer highly illogical and prefers his native Vulcan Ale. Now humans will get a chance to discover Spock’s favorite beverage. On May 1, Vulcan Ale, which is brewed as an Irish red ale, will hit store shelves.
Sadly, Vulcan Ale will only be available in Canada, which is highly illogical. And that doesn’t make sense when it comes to a Vulcan Ale. I guess when cold Vulcan logic meets real-world human borders, there have to be some compromises.
The ale is a specialty brew created specifically for Vulcan Alberta’s 2013 centennial celebrations. Drink long and prosper. Always drink responsibly. Do not get intoxicated and drive a Starship.
This looks like a whole heap of trouble. Previous trailers for the new Star Trek have shown the crew of the Enterprise put through the wringer, but the scope of this latest one makes it look even more absurd than ever. Here’s the final trailer for the new JJ Abrams film. Oh, and it looks like Benedict Cumberbatch has a gigantic Dark Enterprise. More »
With all of the away missions that the Star Trek captains have been on, I’m surprised that none of them have been bitten by zombies. Well, that may not have happened on the shows, but now you can see what each captain would have looked like as the undead, thanks to these cookies.
Here we have Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway and Archer cookies all zombified and craving the brains of their crew. One can only imagine the panic that would take place on a Federation starship under siege by a zombie horde.
These awesomely horrifying cookies were made by the blogger behind Food Replicator, a Star Trek cuisine blog, last Halloween. I also love that they look kind of like South Park characters – and how Picard is holding his own head – it’s the zombie equivalent of the Facepalm.
