Star Wars 1313 Trademark Abandoned By Disney

Star Wars 1313 Trademark Abandoned By DisneyAll good things come to an end, but what about a potential good thing that never really managed to get off the ground, but grounds to a screeching stop? This is what Star Wars 1313 is all about, where the trademark for Star Wars 1313 which was filed by LucasArts all the way back in 2012 is no longer going to roll out for the masses to enjoy. Rumors surrounding Star Wars 1313 pointed to it being a potential prequel to Battlefront III, but as LucasArts closed its doors in 2013, hopes for the title making a debut were dashed like pottery against rocks. In fact, to firmly place the nail into the coffin of this particular idea, Disney has revealed that they will no longer renew the trademark for Star Wars 1313.

Star Wars I Love You./ I Know. Cufflinks Are Perfect For Well Dressed Scoundrels

Growing up I always liked the action scenes in the Star Wars movies much more than I liked the romance parts. For instance, I do recall the scene in The Empire Strikes Back when Leia tells Han that she loves him for the first time. To whit, Han replies with the infamous “I know.” (Then Chewie howls and Han is lowered into a vat of carbonite.)

If you are a well dressed Star Wars fan that needs some cufflinks that show off your geeky side, ThinkGeek has them. They are called, appropriately enough, the I Love You / I Know cufflinks. As you might guess, the links have a black and white image of Leia on one with the “I Love You.” printed underneath. The other has a shot of Han, everyone’s favorite scoundrel, and says “I know”.

The cufflinks are officially licensed from Lucasfilm and are rhodium-plated on the base with enamel and measure 3/4-inch square. You can pick these cufflinks up for $59.99(USD).

Inside is a 2800 mAh lithium-ion battery which should be good for charging up your smartphone for at least a few hours. In addition, this elegant weapon from a more civilized age is also illuminated by four bright red LEDs.

I just love the detail on this charger. It is only about six inches-long, but don’t judge it by it’s size. The power of the Force is mighty.

If you had to pinpoint one common feature of all the backup batteries on the market, it would probably be their uninspired brick-like form factor. There are exceptions, though, but none as elegant and civilized as Brando’s new lightsaber-themed portable backup battery.

    Tauntaun Hoodie Preserves Body Warmth

We already have Tauntaun sleeping bags from ThinkGeek, but they are expensive and maybe you want to wear your Tauntaun rather than sleep in it. Good thing for us, the folks at WeLoveFine are offering this awesome hoodie for just $59(USD).

The lightsaber zip pull is a nice touch. Too bad Han couldn’t cut open his Tauntaun with a zipper. This hoodie is perfect for harsh winters when you have to reach the first marker.

Star Wars Toy Photos Look Amazingly Real

If you are a big fan of the Star Wars franchise, I bet you have wondered in the past what it would be like to really stand in front of the Millennium Falcon or one of the other ships from the series. Short of building your own life-size version, these photos are about as close as you are likely to get.

The pics by artist Vesa Lehtimäki (aka “Avanaut“) use Star Wars models and clever photography tricks to make the toys look like they are real spaceships. I particularly like the one of the Falcon at night with the lights on around its perimeter. It reminds me of a mash up of ET and Star Wars a bit.

Star Wars toys photos look more realistic than the real Star Wars

I love the work of Finnish artist Vesa Lehtimäki aka Avanaut, a brilliant illustrator and photographer who likes to take pictures of his kids’ toys in his spare time. Check out these series of Star Wars toys set in the real world. Some of them look so real that you may think he actually build 1:1 reproductions of the spaceships. Flying ones.
