Rice Krispie Treat Mos Eisley Cantina: a Hive of Sugar and Villainy

The Rice Krispie Treat Mos Eisley Cantina. It is a wretched hive of sugar, scum and villainy. And an amazing geek work of art. It was made by TK Peggy, obviously a geek and a pastry artist. Just like the real cantina, this place is a droid free zone, which is why R2 and C-3PO are standing outside.

Other details include Han shooting first, the famous Cantina band, even that guy who got his arm cut off by a lightsaber. It is everything a geek could want and when you are done marveling at it, you can eat it and leave these patrons without a watering hole.

It is all Rice Krispie treats and snickerdoodles arranged on a foundation of styrofoam covered with masking tape. It is both beautiful and tasty. (Other than the styrofoam and masking tape part.)

This awesome baby vehicle was spotted at Akron Comicon over the weekend and even though it looks like it is piloted by a drunk Yoda, it is actually for the kid seen here. It looks like the whole ship just goes right on top of the existing stroller, so you can switch vehicles with ease.

The only downside is that there is no wookiee for a co-pilot.

Geeky Paper Quilling Sculptures: Rock, Paper, Scissors, Vader

You may or may not be familiar with the art form called quilling. Quilling is created using strips of paper rolled up or curved to create images. An artist named Alia Syed has taken the art of quilling to a very geeky next level. Syed has used quilling to create art in the form of Marvel and Star Wars characters.

If you look at the artworks up close you’ll see strips of paper and rolled up pieces that work in conjunction to create very cool and detailed pieces of art. Among the creations are Darth Vader, Boba Fett and a stormtrooper.

There also Batman and Iron Man artworks as well as the Decepticon and Autobot logos and Master Chief’s helmet from Halo. I wonder how long it took to do each of these paper sculptures – it looks like it must have taken a lot of work.

If you’re interested in owning one of these for your own wall, head on over to Alia’s Etsy shop. Each one sells for $200(USD).

Star Wars: Tiny Death Star Makes Its Way Into US iTunes App Store

Star Wars: Tiny Death Star Makes Its Way Into US iTunes App StoreEarlier this October, it was announced that NimbleBits’ Tiny Towers would receive a Star Wars makeover, just like how Rovio’s Angry Birds got their own Star Wars makeover. Well the app has been available in the Australian iTunes App Store for a couple of weeks now, and for those living in the US and want to get in on the action, well you’re in luck because the game has finally made its way onto the US iTunes App Store. For those unfamiliar with the Tiny Towers game, it’s basically a bit like Maxis’ SimTower which debuted back in 1994.

It tasks players to build up a tower, with  players being able to choose from residential floors, to retail outlets, to food outlets, entertainment, services, and more. The goal is to build as high as possible and collect money. For those who haven’t played it, it can be pretty addictive, as we’re sure those who have played it can agree. Star Wars: Tiny Death Star will build upon the same concept, but instead of merely building floors, you will be building up the Death Star, or at least in concept, where the floors and residents will be Star Wars related where you will get famous guests in the form of Chewbacca, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and more.

The game itself is a free download, but gamers can purchase Imperial Bux for real money which can be used towards speeding up building time of the levels.
