Pocky Lightsabers: An Elegant Candy for a More Civilized Age

Whether you’re on the Light or Dark Side of the Force, there’s one thing we can all agree on: Candy is good. Now, thanks to the confectionery makers of Japan, you can have your lightsaber and eat it too.

These new Pocky stick candies from Glico measure 8 inches-long, so they’re more like breadsticks than candies. They’re available in a three flavors to satisfy your sweet tooth, including Yoda’s green tea, Sith strawberry and Goofy Skywalker grape.

Life-size Boba Fett Action Figure Oil Painting: Hang It Next to Han Solo in Carbonite

I grew up with the Star Wars action figures so I’m a sucker for anything related to these characters. And this piece of amazing art should be hanging on my wall. It is the Boba Fett action figure, in all it’s plastic glory, painted life-sized and looking very authentic indeed.

Mats Gunnarsson created this incredible oil painting, which seems to have all of the details spot on. Mats takes vintage toys and comic books and turns them into oil paintings. It’s his thing. And obviously he is excellent at it.

This Boba Fett painting is his latest work and I am in love with it. Check out Mats’ website for more awesome action figure paintings.

Angry Birds “brand new game” teased for Monday reveal

As what first looked like a small tease for an update to Angry Birds Star Wars, Rovio seems to be teasing much more than that. Today, the Finnish game developing studio revealed that they will be announcing a “brand new game” on Monday that looks to Star Wars related, but seeing as it’s a “brand new game,” we could be looking forward to an Angry Birds Star Wars sequel, rather than just an update to the original movie-themed game.

july15announcement

Rovio didn’t say much about what to expect for Monday’s announcement, but they did mention the game would feature “the biggest character line-up ever,” along with “awesome new powers, and maybe even a few surprises!” They finished the update with an attempt to get the hashtag #July15 trending on Twitter.

As for the teaser image that the company posted, it looks like the this Star Wars sequel game will be taking on the prequels, as the image reveals a young Anakin Skywalker’s shadow revealing the silhouette of Darth Vader. The first Angry Birds Star Wars game focused on the first three movies in the Star Wars saga, so it would make sense that this “brand new game” focuses on the next three in the series.

However, as most of us know, the prequels weren’t really the high point of the Star Wars saga, so here’s hoping that Rovio can make a bearable game that depicts the three prequel films. Then again, Rovio is getting to the point where they need to do some innovation instead of churning out new Angry Birds game every year, or even worse, re-releasing old Angry Birds games.

Of course, though, as long as Rovio keeps seeing sales of new Angry Birds title go through the roof, then there’s no reason for them to fix something that isn’t broken, but it’s certainly exhausting to keep seeing new Angry Birds titles show up when I can’t even keep up with the previous installment.

Star Wars Suitcases: Pack Your Bags for a Galaxy Far, Far Away

These Star Wars suitcases are a great way to pack for your next trip to sunny Mos Eisley, wintery Hoth, swampy Dagobah or even the Death Star resort in orbit.

These suitcases are from crafter AmandaJeannn and they show the world her love of Star Wars while she’s at the airport or on the road. She covered these bags in Star Wars fabric and they look amazing. As an added bonus, they’re easy to identify on the baggage carousel.

But for some reason I have an overwhelming urge to see Jar Jars head in one of these.

Star Wars Mickey Mouse Ears: LucasHats

Sure, we can all laugh about these Star Wars Mickey Mouse ears and point and say “Those merchandising fools. That’s ridiculous.” But remember, Disney now owns Lucasfilm, and therefore Star Wars. I wouldn’t be surprised if people wore this stuff in the next movies. I’m ready for anything after Jar Jar.

I especially like the X-Wing pilot/X-Ear hat. And the Darth Maul hat. Yeah! Mickey Maul. That I can get behind!

They are cute and clever creations – as long as they keep them out of any movies.

Stand Tall with Star Wars Wedges and Superhero Pumps

These wedges are made for walking, but you can also just display them for good measure because they look more like collectible works of art than actual footwear.

These Star Wars wedges, for example, feature the most noted characters from the hit franchise, from Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker to Darth Vader and several of his Stormtroopers.

Star Wars Wedges

If you’re not much of a Star Wars fan, then maybe superhero-themed pumps and heels featuring the likes of Superman, Captain America, Dredd or Wonder Woman is more up your alley.

They’ve even got some Robocop high heels. Now I’d buy that for a dollar!

Dredd Heels

These fancy footwear are made-to-order by Etsy decoupage artist DeckoFab. They take custom orders, too, so if you’re a huge fan (or troll), then you can put in an order for an all-Jar Jar pair of wedges for good measure.

The wedges cost $115(USD), while the high heels are priced at $85. You can check them out at DeckoFab’s Etsy store.

Pink X-Wing Fighter in the Forest: Because.

Hey look. It’s a pink X-Wing in the forest? What gives? Did Ewoks get a hold of a truckload full of Pepto Bismol and assault this fighter with it? That sounds like those mischievous bastards. They love a good joke/vandalizing stuff. Did Endor have a pride parade? Nope.

This “natural X-wing” was made by Guillaume Renou for an exhibition in France that celebrates nature. Bizarre right?

If teenage girls fought for the rebellion, this is what their ships would look like – along with a fuzzy Hello Kitty plush hanging in the cockpit of course. And this guy would be their leader:

What else can you say about such a pink ship? Sure is pink. Damned Ewoks!

Imperial Ketchup AT-AT Walker: Hothy Sauce

While there have been plenty of images circulating over on Reddit showing the awful, unsanitary things workers do when they’re bored at their fast food jobs, Redditor Txmaluda did something a little more creative – and decidedly less disturbing – with their downtime at work.

imperial ketchup walker

Yes, that’s an AT-AT Imperial Walker made  from plastic ketchup containers and cardboard. Of course, it’s all well and good until the Rebels start firing french fries and chicken nuggets – as it seem to be even more vulnerable than the ones in Empire Strikes Back. You certainly won’t need a tow line to take this AT-AT down.

My favorite part of the picture is the box that says both WHATABURGER and “fancy ketchup.” How fancy can WHATABURGER ketchup really be?

3D Print Your Own Death Star Birdhouse: A New Home

A little while back, we featured an officially-licensed Death Star birdhouse, but thanks to Thingiverse member plainolddave you can save some money and 3D print an evil space station for your winged Sith friends.

If you want, you can scale it down and use it as an ornament, a trinket or accessory – or scale it up and make an actual Death Star. You can even print the energy beam – though that’ll keep the birds out.
