Metal Slug 3 For PC Now Available For Pre-Order

Metal Slug 3 For PC Now Available For Pre OrderGamers, if you’re looking to relive some classic moments on your PC, you might recall that it was just last week that SNK Playmore’s Metal Slug 3 appeared on Steam as a closed beta. We also heard that the game would be seeing a release in February, although no specific dates were mentioned. Now the good news is that if the game was something you were looking forward to, you might be interested to learn that Metal Slug 3 has gone up for pre-order on Steam where the game will be priced at $5.99.

However it should be noted that the $5.99 price will not be a permanent one as this is actually a promotion where the developers will be knocking off 25% from its original price of $7.99. This offer will be valid until the 7th of February, which might clue us in to when the game will be released, although this has yet to be confirmed. The Steam version of Metal Slug 3 will come with full controller support which is great for those who want to play it old school style. It will also suppose Steam’s Big Picture mode, achievements, and leaderboards. While the game will be compatible with Windows-based operating systems, it will not be compatible with Windows XP.

Steam Music Beta For SteamOS Announced

Steam Music Beta For SteamOS AnnouncedBack in 2013, Valve announced SteamOS along with Steam Machines, with SteamOS expected to power the Steam Machines. In any case SteamOS isn’t exactly widely available at the moment, but if you’re planning on getting your hands on a Steam Machine in the near future, Steam Music is one of the features you can look forward to. This feature was recently announced by Valve on its Steam website where they revealed that the Steam Music Beta would be coming soon to Big Picture and SteamOS interfaces soon, and desktop features are expected to soon follow.

For those wondering what is Steam Music about, it’s basically a feature of Steam that will allow gamers to listen to music while they play their games. Listening to music while playing games is definitely not new and it is practiced by thousands of gamers around the world, although we guess the main difference is that the music will be playable directly in the Steam UI without the need for you to keep an additional media player app running, like iTunes, for example. As it stands Steam Music will only be able to play locally-stored music and there is no option to purchase music, so it looks like Valve will not be headed in that direction, yet. For those interested you will be able to sign up to be part of the beta, so head on over to the Steam website for the details.

Metal Slug 3 For PC Launches On Steam In Closed Beta

metal-slug-3If you grew up playing games, chances are you might have chanced upon the Metal Slug series of games in the arcade. Alternatively you might have even downloaded the game on your mobile device, but the good news is that gamers who are looking forward to relive some memories will be happy to learn that SNK will be bringing Metal Slug 3 onto the PC where it will be available for purchase via Steam. Granted the game is old but it is probably one of the more well-known arcade classics out there today, along with the likes of Street Fighter, Raiden, and etc.

Unfortunately the game is currently in closed beta but the good news is that gamers can get the access code if they wish, although we’re not sure if it is a guarantee that you will get it. According to SNK, “We are pleased to announce that we are currently running a “Closed Beta” for Metal Slug 3. If you’d like a key, be sure to “Follow” us on Twitter and “Like” us on Facebook! Alternatively, make some noise here!” We expect that the game will be somewhat buggy due to it being in beta mode, but that’s what beta testers are for, right? The PC version of the game is expected to have Arcade Mode, Mission Mode, and Online Mission Mode for multiplayer, along with leaderboards for those who want bragging rights.

Valve Launches Steam Streaming Beta Service

InHomeStreamingDiagramWhen it comes to streaming games onto other devices, consoles have that option. For example the GamePad for the Wii U basically allows games to be played on the smaller screen instead of the TV, and Sony has something similar except with the PS Vita. Well it looks like Valve wants to bring that kind of streaming functionality to PC gamers as they have recently launched a beta program in which gamers are able to stream games from one PC to another via Steam. This service is currently in beta and is only available to a select few who have been invited to take part in the beta testing process. (more…)

Alienware Steam Machine Can Be Upgraded After All

alienware-steam-machineA couple of days ago, we reported that Alienware’s Steam Machine will not be able to be upgraded, which then raised a fair number of legitimate questions. After all, not being able to upgrade your computer simply does not make much sense at all, since PC games do not work that way unlike consoles. It also provides users with the flexibility to perform incremental upgrades without having to purchase a brand new system every few years. We are then glad to announce that Alienware has turned on their previous announcement, where users can upgrade their Steam Machines, but with a caveat – it will not be easy.

    SteamOS Beta Released By Valve

SteamOS Beta Released By ValveValve has just rolled out its SteamOS beta, although this particular introduction will be accompanied by a warning – you should only download this latest beta version if you have a semblance of an idea of what you are doing. Of course, I guess this is how the battlelines are drawn, separating the real men from boys. At least true testers would be differentiated this time around. Of course, those who qualify would also require a relatively new machine with UEFI, considering how attempts to make the operating system as a secondary boot option did not prove to be that easy. This latest beta that is available to the brave masses would allow interested parties to be more familiar with early SteamOS.
