Steve Jobs Might Be Portrayed By Leonardo DiCaprio

Steve Jobs Might Be Portrayed By Leonardo DiCaprio

Aaron Sorkin has already penned a new Steve Jobs biopic that has been adapted from his official biography. Though so far it is not known who is going to portray the deceased Apple co-founder and CEO. Previous rumors suggested that David Fincher was in talks to direct and that he was reaching out to Christian Bale for the lead. Latest word on the street is that Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle is being tapped to direct, and that he has already reached out to Leonardo DiCaprio to possibly star as Jobs.

A recent report suggested that Sony Pictures had balked at the demands being made by David Fincher, which included high pay and control over the film’s marketing. The studio is now in talks to sign Boyle who has already worked with DiCaprio in the past.

DiCaprio has had ample experience of playing the visionary guy in a number of films, the most notable of which is The Aviator. He portrayed Howard Hughes in that film and nailed all the nuances of the character. Still one might argue that there really isn’t a lot of resemblance between the two, but if Ashton Kutcher can be made to look like Steve Jobs, anything is possible.

Sorkin has revealed that the film will essentially consist of three 30-minute scenes which depict three important events in Jobs personal and professional life. Filming is expected to begin next year provided that the studio is able to get cast and crew onboard.

Steve Jobs Movie Will Not Be Directed By David Fincher

Steve Jobs Movie Will Not Be Directed By David Fincher

If you were not satisfied by the Ashton Kutcher starring “Jobs” movie, fret not, there’s another Steve Jobs movie in the pipeline. Being written by Aaron Sorkin, of The Social Network fame, the film will play out in three scenes which will chart three crucial events in the co-founder’s life. No word as yet on who will be cast to play the former Apple CEO, Christian Bale is rumored to be in the running. Previously it was reported that David Fincher could be tapped to direct the film, but now a new report claims that Fincher has left the project.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, David Fincher had “aggressive” demands that Sony Pictures didn’t want to meet. Apparently he asked for $10 million in wages apart from control of the movie’s marketing. Sorkin and Fincher have both previously worked together on The Social Network, a film focusing on the dramatic rise of Facebook.

It is unclear who will be tapped next to direct the movie. Apparently it was Fincher who was pushing the studio to consider Christian Bale for the lead role. That might change when a new director comes onboard. Filming isn’t expected to begin until next year, so Steve Jobs fans might have to wait a while before they get to see another movie about him on the big screen.
