[CES 2014] Seagate is introducing a new line of external backup hard drives with Seagate Backup Plus Slim, a new series that follows the previous “Backup Plus” drives launched in June 2012. As you have guessed, the new ones are smaller, thanks to the natural size reduction of drives but the more important update in 2014 is the capability to (partially) backup Android and iOS devices in addition to PC and Mac computers. [CES 2014] For the professional photo editor or video editor, having ample amount of hard disk space is necessary. After all a good majority of these professionals work with raw files and files whose resolutions are huge, meaning that every single file could be a few megabytes, and in the case of videos, a few hundred to one gigabyte alone! This is where LaCie comes in as the company has recently announced the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt 2, a product which they’re calling the world’s fastest portable storage.
[CES 2014] External hard drives and USB flash drives are something we don’t necessarily think too much about in terms of design. However LaCie is a company that has not been shy about styling their products as we have seen them collaborate with Porsche on hard drives before, which is why it is not surprising, and somewhat of a delight, to see LaCie announce a new external hard drive in the form of the Sphere. As the name and the photos indicate, this is a hard drive that is atypical in design and spherical in shape, courtesy of a design collaboration with Christofle, a French luxury brand that is known for their work with silver.
