One of the problems with our mobile devices like smartphones or tablets is that the speakers tend to be facing away from us, unless of course you are using the HTC One or the HTC One M8 in which you would be lucky enough to have front facing stereo speakers.
What this means for the rest of us is that sometimes when we watch movies or video clips, it can be pretty soft, especially in outdoor environments where the experience would be less than ideal. The Microsoft Surface tablet is suffering from that problem and it has been a complaint amongst Surface users that their tablet volume levels are a bit too low, even when maxed out.
However thanks to a Kickstarter project called Ears, it is a simple accessory that has been designed to boost the volume levels of your Surface tablet. These aren’t exactly the most high-tech of accessories and are actually little silicone pieces that slips over the top left and right of your tablet.
What it does is that it helps to redirect the sound and enhance its volume naturally and at the same time attempt to redirect the sound so that it is coming towards you, the listener, as opposed to project from the sides which would affect its volume. According to its creator, the Ears can boost sound levels by as much as 10dB.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen an accessory like this but if you wanted something catered specifically for the Surface tablet, be sure to hit up its Kickstarter page for the details.

There have been rumors that Microsoft could be planning on debuting a Surface Mini tablet which would essentially be a smaller version of the Surface tablet. The rumors claim that instead of 10-inch display, the Surface Mini could instead sport a smaller 8.1-inch display and could even feature Kinect-like motion sensing.
So when will this rumored device be unveiled, if at all? Well if a recent tweet from the Microsoft Surface account in Japan is anything to go by, it seems that we can look forward to some kind of Surface-related announcement at the Microsoft BUILD conference which will be taking place tomorrow. Apple Patents A Surface-Like Touch Keyboard Smart Cover With A Trackpad Twist
Posted in: Today's ChiliApple has a new patent for an iPad accessory (via Patently Apple) that incorporates keyboard features into the design of a new smart cover. The touch-based cover resembles the one Microsoft’s Surface uses for input, but it has a unique twist which is the basis for the patent – multi-touch gesture support that turns the whole cover into a trackpad, rather than limiting that to a… Read More
While most of us type away at our computers facing the monitors directly, there are some who take advantage of wireless keyboards and use it to sit further away, perhaps in a more comfortable chair or position. In fact wireless keyboards make it great for typing when you’re facing a huge monitor or when you’ve hooked up your computer to a TV.
Microsoft had an accessory for its Surface tablets called the Surface Wireless Keyboard Adapter. Basically what this does is that it allows users to connect their Type or Touch covers to monitors as far as 30 feet away, allowing users to enjoy typing from at distance at their own level of comfort. Samsung is never shy about throwing shade on its competitors, and a new ad for its Galaxy Pro series of tablets is no exception. The new video calls out not only Apple’s iPad, but also the Microsoft Surface and Amazon Kindle by name as it emphasizes the things its Android-powered, business-focused devices can do that those other tablets cannot. Personally, my favorite part of the whole thing… Read More
Back at CES 2014 earlier this year, Samsung took the wraps off two new tablets: the Galaxy Note Pro and the Galaxy Tab Pro. These are some of Samsung’s higher-end tablets and they come packed with pretty impressive hardware, like powerful processors and high resolution displays.
That being said, it seems that Samsung (naturally) thinks that their tablets are better than the competition and has since released a commercial in which they basically criticize tablets such as the iPad and the Microsoft Surface. The video basically picks apart the tablets and highlights some of their weaknesses which Samsung addresses with the Galaxy Pro series. (more…)
