It would appear that Delta airlines are bucking some device trends this upcoming travel season in a move that will have Microsoft pleased. Though the airline had been working with Apple’s iPad slate for some time now, they’ve begun transitioning to the Microsoft-made Surface 2. This tablet is up for pre-order as of the 24th […]
While the Surface Pro 2 was shown off with a set of power upgrades earlier today, the Surface 2 is set to return with a collection of slim-downs. This starts with a thinner body, a lighter body, and a silver option (so you’re not just stuck with black.) This device is coming with a Full […]
About this time last year, Microsoft made some major promises about ushering in the future of computing. One year and two Surface tablets, later the future Microsoft’s been dreaming of isn’t quite here. Maybe the second time’s the charm.
Microsoft is going to unveil its new Surface tablets at an event on September 23rd, that much we know, all the rest has been rumored. The new tablets aren’t expected to come with major design changes, however a refined kickstand is said to be on the cards. Internal hardware components will obviously be changed. There has been much speculation about the pricing, particularly of the Surface 2, the next generation model of the Surface RT tablet. Its still going to run Windows 8 RT, but its expected to drop the RT label. A new report has come out today which claims that despite disappointing sales of the Surface RT, which some attribute to its high price, Microsoft may retain the $500 price tag for Surface 2.
Moreover, it is also claimed that Microsoft will sell the Touch Cover and Type Cover keyboards separately, they won’t be included in the $500 price of Surface 2. In recent months the company has slashed the prices of its Surface RT tablets in a bid to move inventory. It also took a $900 million hit due to unsold tablets. This rumor is said to come from only one source, so a grain of salt is advised nonetheless. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait for long, Microsoft’s event is less than three days away.
Surface 2 Said To Have Same $500 Price As Surface RT original content from Ubergizmo.
Microsoft just sent out invitations for an event in New York City on Monday September 23rd, two weeks from today. It will be showing off the new Surface. Which is to say, it’s going to be showing us the future of Microsoft.
Surface Power Cover rumored to ship after the Surface 2, provide the whole family with extra juice
Posted in: Today's ChiliDespite Microsoft’s claims that the Surface family of tablets was a representation of “no compromise,” many road warriors have found the battery life to be… well, compromised. In order to address said concerns, it’s looking as if Microsoft will be launching a line of Power Covers. In a nutshell, these battery-inclusive Type Covers will snap onto Surface tablets as the existing ones do now, but a bump in thickness (from 0.21-inches to 0.38-inches) will add “significant” life. Interestingly, WinSupersite is reporting that the covers won’t ship until after the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2, and the original Surface RT won’t be compatible. Oh, and as for pricing? Mum’s the word, as you might expect for an unconfirmed accessory.
