Swann HD RemoteCam lets you make video recordings discreetly

hd-remotecamSwann Security is no stranger when it comes to security monitoring, and this time around, they have yet another device that will cater to those who would love to perform a covert operation from time to time. I am referring to the HD RemoteCam, which is the latest device from their range of covert recording devices. The HD RemoteCam was specially designed to look like that of a standard issue car remote complete with a keychain to boot, as you go about your business discreetly recording your target in high definition glory, not to mention it being full well capable of snapping photos as well as capturing audio with but a single push of a button. Once done, you can even opt to share what was recorded onto different websites.

The HD RemoteCam itself would come with an integrated microphone as well as a fixed focus lens which is capable of capturing full color, high definition 1280x720p AVI video in addition to still photos (at 1600 x 1200 pixels resolution). In order to snap a photo, just press the record button quickly and the lens will get the job done, and if you prefer to get a video recording of whatever’s happening at that point in time, then you can always hold the button to record video. Doing so would allow the HD RemoteCam to start shooting video, where it will also continue to do so until you press the very same button again.

The presence of an LED light would inform you that the power is turned on, but whenever you perform a video recording session, this very same LED light would be turned off in order to let you discreetly go about your business without letting your cover slip. Each HD RemoteCam will arrive with a 2GB microSD memory card to help you get started right out of the box, but that is a paltry amount in this day and age, leaving you with just 20 minutes of video. For those who want to maximize their recording time, it would be better to purchase your very own memory card, especially those that can go all the way to 32GB.

Once the recording is complete, just transfer the relevant videos and photos to your computer via USB, with the option to share them on the likes of Facebook and YouTube. The $69.99 HD RemoteCam would have a recording time of 60 minutes per full battery charge.

Swann Quad Starship: AR.Drone Mini

Swann has been making some really cool flying RC toys that look like different sorts of helicopters. I have played with several of those helicopters over the years and they are a lot of fun, but inevitably, I end up crashing them into the wall and breaking the propeller or gears that move the propellers.

swann quadcopter 1 620x477magnify

The latest flying toy from Swann is the Quad Starship and it reminds me a lot of the Parrot AR.Drone, only smaller. The Quad Starship has four propellers each protected by a plastic ring. That should mean you can touch a wall without the quadcopter suddenly becoming uncontrollable and crashing.

sqs 620x465magnify

The Quad Starship has a wireless range of 330 feet and a controller powered by four AA batteries. The helicopter itself is powered by a rechargeable battery good for eight minutes of flight time. In addition to its size, and lack of an onboard camera, the other biggest difference between this and the AR.Drone is the price. The Swann Quad Starship sells for $79.99(USD) making it a fraction of the cost of the AR.Drone. Only time will tell if it flies as well, though.

Swann Quad Starship Might Be Your Own Delivery Drone

Swann Quad Starship Might Be Your Own Delivery DroneDid you realize how the Internet was abuzz with news that Amazon is looking to deliver products to your doorstep using drones that fly through the air via the Amazon Prime Air program? Well, it has certainly drawn different views on its success (or otherwise), but one thing’s for sure – plenty of news surrounding it has been generated and disseminated since. Well, how about enjoying a delivery drone of your own? You might play make believe with the Swann Quad Starship which will feature Swann’s Easy Fly Gyro technology that will include a quartet of axis and propellers.

Thanks to the incorporation of such a design, it is a snap to enjoy multi-direction maneuverability and simple control. The quartet of rotors would allow it to move up, down, forwards, backwards, and sideways. Oh yeah, lest we forget, it can also handle flips and stunt tumbles for that added entertainment value. Using a compact and powerful Swann 2.4GHz control, you will have a controlling range of up to 330 feet away. A full charge would offer you 8 minutes of flying time, while the remote itself would run on four AA batteries, so make sure there are always spares around. I would recommend rechargeables, and do bear in mind that it was constructed for indoor flight.

Swann Security announces the Bubble Bomber mini RC helicopter

bubble-bomberA global leader in security monitoring solutions, Swann Security, has just announced something that will border on the fun side of things. After all, isn’t there a saying that goes something like this, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”? To make sure that the security line might be fun despite an air of seriousness about it, Swann Security has unveiled their Bubble Bomber mini RC helicopter. The latest Bubble Bomber RC Helicopter will be able to offer security staff a fun and unique way to carry out “missions” of their own, where it will arrive complete with the most recent and cutting-edge features of a modern remote controlled helicopter. Apart from that, the Bubble Bomber would also be designed with Swann’s Easy-Fly Gyro technology so that it is a snap for new users without any experience to take to the skies in a jiffy.

Available over at Fry’s for $59.99 a pop, the Bubble Bomber has been named so simply because it will arrive complete with a bubble solution and an injector that will be able to squeeze the liquid into the helicopter’s undercarriage. The moment the Bubble Bomber takes to the skies, you can drop bubbles by pressing the Bubble Button on the 2.4GHz wireless remote control, and have loads of fun doing so. At least it does far more than just have folks gawk at the remote controlled helicopters for a few minutes before their batteries sizzle out.

The Bubble Bomber is operational from up to 1,000 feet away, where it will feature a couple of joysticks as well as trim control on the video game-styled remote so that you can have six-way multi-directional maneuverability, where among them include up, down, forward, backward, left, and right. There is also a “turbo” button that introduces an additional boost of speed as and when required during those high-intensity bubble-blasting missions.

Half a dozen AA batteries would power the remote control, while the helicopter runs on a rechargeable 3.7-volt Li-poly battery that delivers up to 7 minutes of continuous flight time.

Swann Sky Duel helicopters bring the fight indoors

I know that most parents would want their little ones to head out to the great outdoors and play whenever the weather is just fantastic, especially during those summer months, instead of being cooped up at home in front of the computer or the TV. Well, sometimes the weather does not seem to be too co-operative, so some sort of indoor entertainment is required that does not involve seeing a display for prolonged periods of time. Confiscate the kids’ smartphones, tablets, and consoles, and bring out Swann’s latest Sky Duel helicopters for some indoor dueling fun – the safe way, of course.

The Swann Sky Duel twin indoor helicopters will enable you to shoot infrared beams at your opponent, and when all of that action is going on, it will be accompanied by actual whizzing sounds as well as flashing lights when you fire a missile. I guess the only special effect to make it more realistic that is missing would be smoke, no? Once you have successfully registered three hits, your opponent’s helicopter will be disabled, and fall from the sky.

The moment the duel is over, the two of you can compose your nerves, relive those tense moments over a cup of hot chocolate, and throw yourselves straight into action all over again. You need not have to worry about damaging your recently purchased toy, as the Sky Duel was specially manufactured for indoor flying, and is said to be able to withstand its fair share of impacts as well as crashes.

Equipped with Swann’s Easy-Fly Gyro Technology, the controllers will boast of a couple of analog control joysticks that have been styled after classic video games. The trim controller will feature a laser fire button, while its precise 6-way multi-directional Up/Down, Forward/Backward & Left/Right turn movements are a snap to execute.

A full charge (via USB or through the remote control) will give you 7 minutes of flying per chopper. Each purchase of the Swann Sky Duel Helicopters will set you back by $79.99.

Swann Security announces Bolt HD camera

When it comes to home-based security monitoring solutions, you will not be able to go wrong with Swann Security, and the company has recently announced the debut of their Bolt HD mini high definition action camera, where it was first introduced at CES 2013. The Bolt HD camera is a mini HD camera/DVR combo that comes in a rugged and waterproof form factor, alongside a bunch of mounting options that will enable outdoor enthusiasts to relive their most extreme moments over and over again. So, what do you get after parting with $199.99 for the Bolt HD camera?

Underneath the hood, you will find a color camera which can record 1080p or Full HD high resolution video at real time, and if you were to lust after still images, it would end up with 12-megapixel shots. Thanks to the inclusion of a built-in laser pointer, the Bolt HD will enable the user to confirm that the camera is on target, and more than ready to shoot. It has a protected lens so that the user is able to record far more details with its 135 degree angle lens.

The Bolt HD will feature a built-in stereo microphone which enables audio recordings that will be enhanced a whole lot more as you can hear all the action that is going on. The device is capable of stashing away around 10 hours of video recordings on a solitary microSD memory card of up to 32GB, giving you the freedom to swap out cards in a jiffy whenever it is full, or about to be.

The Bolt HD’s mini HDMI connection will let you hook it up to your big screen TV in the living room so that you can share your action in HD on the spot with family and friends. Thanks to a lithium-ion battery which juices up via USB, it is said to give you hours of power on end on a single charge. It is shockproof and waterproof up to 32’, and there are also no dials, gauges, knobs or any preferences to work with. If you are interested, the Swann’s Bolt HD will cost you $199.

Swann Bolt HD action camera shoots 1080p video, 12MP stills with laser targeting

We’re starting to wonder where introducing lasers doesn’t make everything better. Case in point: Swann’s just-shipping Bolt HD action camera. While the 1080p video, microSD storage and 135-degree lens will be familiar from the Freestyle HD we saw in 2011, there’s now a laser pointer to make sure the camera is on target when it isn’t an option to peek through the detachable LCD. A sleeker look and an upgrade to 12-megapixel still photos also give us reason to upgrade. It’s not a uniform move upwards from the Freestyle HD, however — the Bolt HD can only submerge to 32 feet versus the 65 of its ancestor. As long as your scuba dives don’t run that deep, however, the lower $200 price for the new camera might prove tempting.

Swann Platinum-HD security system packs four 1080p cameras, 2TB DVR for $1,600

Swann PlatinumHD security system packs four 1080p cameras, 2TB DVR for $1,600

We don’t follow the surveillance space as closely as we do, say, smartphones or tablets, but this four-camera HD system from Swann Security does in fact seem to be the first 1080p-capable consumer product of its kind, so we’re here to bring you the news. “Coming soon” to Fry’s Electronics and BestBuy.com, the complete rig nets you four 1080p cameras with 30 fps recording, complete with infrared for night shooting and power-over-Ethernet connectivity, letting you get each cam online with a simple CAT5E cable. 1080p may seem like overkill for home or small business use, but the cops will certainly thank you when they’re able to feed a high-res frame grab to the evening news, rather than the fuzzy perp shot we’ve grown accustomed to.

The Platinum-HD DVR includes a 2TB hard drive for up to 45 days of continuous footage (at lower resolutions, we presume) and smartphone streaming through the SwannView app. The quad-cam package will set you back $1,600 whenever it does hit stores — in the meantime, find a few more details in the PR after the break.

Protect your home or business like never before, with HD video streamed over the Internet to your smartphone or tablet

Santa Fe Springs, Calif.- January 17, 2013 – Swann, a global leader in do-it-yourself security monitoring solutions, announces the release of its new state-of-the-art high definition 1080p Network Video Recording (NVR) security systems, known as Platinum-HD. The Swann NVRs are capable of full HD video with real-time (30 frames per second) live viewing and video playback. Initially there will be two versions: 4 Channels (NVR4-7200) with 4 x 1080p (NHD-820) Cameras and 8 Channels (NVR8-7200) with 4 x 1080p Cameras.

Where HD security systems in the past have required a trade-off between resolution and video frame rates, these new solutions are unique in that they combine 1080p video resolution with real-time (30 frames per second) live viewing and video playback allowing end-users to see every detail, color and activity.

The systems include 4 of the latest NHD-820 surveillance cameras, each capable of producing 1080p HD video or, using security industry terminology, 1000 TV lines (2.1 Megapixels) lines; image quality far in excess of typical security cameras. The cameras also have powerful night vision up to 115 feet and can be used indoors or outdoors. The new Platinum-HD NVRs also have power over Ethernet (PoE) so that the cameras take their power and transmit video using CAT5E network cable, making them easier to set-up as they do not need a separate power connection for the cameras.

The Platinum-HD also allows viewing of live or recorded video in high definition on HDTV, LCD and Plasma screens with an HDMI cable included in the pack. The intuitive user interface means you can monitor and record multiple cameras on a split screen, as well as select any camera for full screen real time viewing or playback of pre-recorded footage. With a 2TB hard drive, users have the ability to record approximately 45 days of continuous surveillance or even longer when using the motion detection settings. With easy to use menus you can easily locate incident video and then transfer it to the network or a USB drive.

The free SwannView app offers convenient remote viewing functionality to the Platinum-HD kits allowing you to set up live remote viewing on your mobile device. The set-up is extremely easy with Swann’s customizable network configuration. Once the kit is installed, simply download the SwannView app from your smartphone’s application store or go to www.swann.com/swannview for the latest version of the SwannView app. Once the app is installed on your Smartphone or tablet, put the DVR’s IP address into the browser and in minutes you can view live video from your cameras.

    Available

Swann’s Platinum-HD Full High Definition Security Systems are coming soon to Fry’s Electronics and BestBuy.com. The 4 Channel 4 Camera versions (Swann code SWNVK-472004) have a MSRP of $1599.99 and the 8 Channel 4 Camera version (SWNVK-872004) has an MSRP of $1699.99.

Swann TrueBlue 4000 series D1 DVRs pack up to 8 cameras, 1TB of storage for home security

Home security may not have reached all-seeing aerial eye proportions, but Swann‘s TrueBlue 4000 series of D1 DVR systems can place up to eight digital peepers throughout your island fortress or humble abode. With a resolution of 480 x 704 pixels, the cameras offer “DVD-quality” video and feature night vision with up to 65 feet of visibility. Those hankering to remotely keep tabs on their homestead can load up the free SwannView app for Android, BlackBerry, iOS, Windows Mobile 6 and Symbian to watch live video on mobile devices. Footage can also be viewed on monitors using HDMI or VGA connections and can be backed up through USB, eSATA or over a network. The maximum one terabyte of storage space nets continuous recording for up to 30 days — or longer if the device’s motion detection settings are flipped on. A 500GB base model with a quartet of cams rings up at $549.99, while the more expensive $649.99 and $749.99 models each pack 1TB hard drives and eight channel support. However, only the priciest of the trio comes packaged with the octet of cameras. Head past the break for the full PR and a glimpse of the rig in action.
