NVIDIA Tegra TAB specifications leaked via FCC: Tegra 4 on tap

With the dawning of the age of a non-Tegra Nexus 7 this year with the ASUS-made Qualcomm-packing 2013 edition of the tablet, NVIDIA appears to have created a high-powered 7-inch slate of their own. Following the path started with the NVIDIA SHIELD gaming device, this tablet looks to take command with a backside camera (in […]

NVIDIA Tegra Note Spotted At The FCC With 7-inch Display, Digital Pen

NVIDIA Tegra Note Spotted At The FCC With 7 inch Display, Digital Pen

We spotted what’s being alleged to be the NVIDIA Tegra Tab just last month, and today it looks like we’re one step closer to the tablet becoming a reality as it made its official stop at the FCC this week which includes photos, its user manual and a hint that indicates the tablet may not actually be called the Tegra Note when it’s released.

First off, let’s take a look at what the NVIDIA Tegra Note has going on under the hood. The tablet will feature a 7-inch display along with a digital pen that will allow users to interact with it in a number of ways, such as writing notes, drawing or even using special menus only available when using the pen. The Tegra Note will of course be powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 quad-core processor while a number of photos show both a 3200mAh battery as well as a 4100mAh battery, making it unclear which battery will be included when the tablet comes to market.

As for the NVIDIA Tegra Note name, the prototype does have the words “Tegra Note” etched into its rear, but a part of the manual includes the word “BRAND,” which means the tablet could be a reference device that may be re-branded and sold by different companies.

    Acer DA241HL 24-inch AiO hands-on: Android-powered multitasking

Acer’s DA241HL AIO machine was introduced earlier this week as the first Android 4.2 all-in-one system to support multitasking, gaming, Web browsing and video with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor. This Acer system was shown off here at IFA 2013, and we got some one-on-one time with the system, giving it a run through to […]

Xiaomi Mi3 Is First Tegra 4 Smartphone

Xiaomi Mi3 Is First Tegra 4 SmartphoneXiaomi and NVIDIA have announced that the flagship phone from Xaiomi, the Mi3 is now officially the first Tegra 4 phone which will be able to access games from TegraZone. The Mi3 comes with a 5” 1080p display (441ppi) and up to 64GB of internal storage. The clock frequency details of this Tegra 4 phone were not immediately disclosed (do we really care that much?), but we know that this can slightly vary from vendor to vendor, depending on the thermal design of each phone. Overall, we would expect it to get performance close to the NVIDIA Shield, but keep in mind that NVIDIA’s portable console has a beefy cooling system. (more…)

NVIDIA Tegra Tab P1640 Spotted In Taiwan NCC

NVIDIA Tegra Tab P1640 Spotted In Taiwan NCCNVIDIA’s involvement in the Android-powered tablet market has seen another device surface, although this time around, it will be making its way to the Taiwan National Communications Commission for regulatory approval. This particular filing depicted the NVIDIA Tegra Tab, where it was accompanied by model number P1640, which has been sent in to test both of its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios, while glaringly lacking any cellular radios of note.

The filing depicts a tablet that is similar in appearance to some of the other more detailed images which were leaked out from China sometime in the middle of last month. Very little is known about its internal components at the moment, it is believed to hold some kind of Tegra-based processor underneath the hood, and the Tegra 4 could very well be it. If that were the case, then it would be the same that was used in the Shield handheld gaming system. The missing carrier connectivity does seem to be rather out of place though, don’t you think so? NVIDIA did filed for the Tegra Tab trademark in the US earlier this year in April, but other than that, nothing much has been seen on the part of NVIDIA to offer products under the banner.

    Hands-on with Acer’s DA241HL 24-inch all-in-one running Android

    Hands-on with Acer's DA241HL 24-inch all-in-one running Android

Granted, tablets are getting up there in size, but even after a couple of Android all-in-ones (including, in fact, one from Acer early this year), we’re still not fully used to playing Angry Birds on a glossy 24-inch display. We’re sure we’ll get a better handle on it, but these things take time. For those who want their Android games and apps in full, giant HD, there’s the DA241HL. We’ve got to admit, while it’s still an odd space, Acer’s doubling down here, with a pretty nicely designed all-in-one that looks a bit nicer than the current DA220HQL.

Along the bottom, you’ll find one long speaker grille with four buttons: input, monitor settings, volume up and down and power. Flip the device around to find the the hinged stand and a removable panel that hides three USB ports, an SD slot, a headphone jack and HDMI and micro-USB sockets. The USB in particular will come in handy when you want to connect up a keyboard and mouse, and you’ll be using the HDMI and micro-USB should you decide to connect a phone or PC to use it as a secondary display.%Gallery-slideshow77229%
