Bang & Olufsen’s BeoVision 12-65 New Generation TV includes its own 7.1-channel sound module

Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 1265 New Generation includes its own 71channel sound module

Bang & Olufsen is all about elegant design, and it’s not about to let a home theater receiver spoil those clean looks — see its newly unveiled BeoVision 12-65 New Generation TV as an example. This refresh of last year’s BeoVision 12-65 includes its own 7.1-channel audio module, letting viewers plug surround speakers into the 65-inch plasma without a go-between box. The upgrade also brings TrueImage, which mixes the sound to fit all available speakers, and lets owners customize audio presets. Bang & Olufsen hasn’t disclosed pricing for the New Generation, but the set should reach company stores in early September.

Twitter experiments with trending TV box on some users’ timelines

Twitter experiments with TV trending box

Twitter has already signaled its love of TV by negotiating deals for branded video, but it’s not satisfied yet: the company has started limited testing of a timeline box for trending TV shows. The feature provides both the details of a given show as well as a list of associated Twitter accounts. Thankfully, the box isn’t a permanent fixture; while it will appear on its own, users can close and scroll past the box to return to their personal feeds. The company isn’t commenting on the test or the likelihood of a wider rollout, but the popularity of Twitter as a live TV companion suggests that the trending TV box could be here to stay.

Samsung Curved OLED TV hits USA with split-screen Multi View technology

This week Samsung’s KN55S9C model Curved OLED TV is appearing in the USA, complete with the ability to allow you to see the finest in video entertainment from all angles. Of course you’ll be paying a hefty price for this industry-leading bit of technology, especially since this device rings in at right around $15k overseas […]

Samsung’s 55-inch Curved OLED TV ships today for a sufferable $9,000 (eyes-on)

Any way you look at it, nine thousand dollars is a heck of a lot to spend on a television. But in the case of Samsung’s 55-inch Curved OLED set, it’s a fair share less than the $15,000 we heard quoted just last month. Just like LG’s equivalent, the Samsung KN55S9C was designed with a curved profile in order to “envelope” viewers — your viewing experience is improved, in theory, because you’re more immersed in the display. The OLED set includes the company’s Multi-View feature, which lets two people watch different programming at the same time when using compatible active 3D glasses, and it’s compatible with the Evolution Kit Samsung introduced at CES. The 55-inch KN55S9C is on its way to select retailers, and can be yours for the considerable sum of $9,000.

Update: The set will be available tomorrow (August 14th) on Samsung.com. Additionally, Consumer Reports has already managed to review the TV, giving the Samsung KN55S9C high marks, despite its sky-high price.

Did The Real ‘Heisenberg’ Also ‘Break Bad’?

Did The Real Heisenberg Also 'Break Bad'? Many die-hard fans like myself, who can’t get enough of the award-winning AMC TV drama, "Breaking Bad,"
have often thought that the alter-ego character "Heisenberg" was the
invention of anti-hero Walter White, played by actor Bryan Cranston. In
actuality, the chemistry professor referenced the name in Season 1 as an
homage to the famous German physicist, Werner Karl Heisenberg.

The CowboyStudio Shoulder Support Pad for Video Cameras — Is it Good? Product Review

CowboyStudios Shoulder MountHaving worked in the film/video industry for about 20-years, I’ve had my experiences with camera mounts.  Some are great.  Some… well, just plain suck.  This device is quite innovative and may just be the answer to getting the jitters out of a shot without the weight of a steady-cam.

LG retro TV delivers 1080p HD and physical channel dials

If you’re in the mood this week for a lovely bit of nostalgia, LG is ready to bring the heat in full begone-era fashion with a retro set with physical dials. This is the LG 32LN630R, and beyond the bits and pieces that make it looks very much like a time-traveling set from the 1950s, […]

LG ships retro TV with rotary dials

LG ships retro 32inch LCD with rotary dials, recalls the days before remotes

Do you miss walking over the TV to change the channel? We know LG does. It just launched a 32-inch LCD set, the 32LN630R, that resembles a ’70s tube TV down to the working channel and volume dials. Not that the company is foregoing modern luxuries, mind you — its 1080p, IPS-based display supports both USB-based storage and MHL video from mobile devices. The 32LN630R is available now in South Korea for 840,000 won ($754), but there are no immediate plans to sell the TV to nostalgic Americans.

Fox Sports becomes official Formula E broadcaster

Fox Sports becomes Formula E's official broadcaster

What good is an EV racing league like Formula E if there’s no way to watch it? Not much, which is why the FIA has reached a deal making Fox Sports the official Formula E broadcaster. The agreement gives Fox a US exclusive for TV coverage as well as a mixture of exclusive and non-exclusive rights (including online content) in over 80 regions. We won’t know if Fox is truly ready for the job until the first Formula E race begins in September 2014, but it won’t be hard to tune in.
