Respawn Reinstating CTF Mode For Titanfall For PC

Respawn Reinstating CTF Mode For Titanfall For PCGood news Titanfall PC gamers, if you were missing the Capture the Flag (CTF) and Pilot Hunter modes in the game, you might be pleased to learn that Respawn Entertainment has announced that they will be bringing one of the features back. For those unfamiliar with those features because you never explored the game, Respawn had initially removed them due to the lack of players playing it.

What this meant is that gamers who did want to play it ended up being stuck in a loop when trying to be matchmade with other gamers. In fact Respawn’s stats revealed that less than 1% of the player population played CTF mode. Well regardless it looks like the feature is back, and Respawn has implemented a new system that will no longer cause players to be stuck in a loop when trying to find a game.

“[W]e’re introducing a test of even wider region searches. If you’re searching for 5 minutes without starting a game, [the matchmaker] will eventually widen your search to include neighboring continents. This means you might end up in a game with a much higher ping than you’re used to, but as players pointed out; playing is preferred to not playing at all!”

Unfortunately this only applies to CTF mode. Respawn has not mentioned if they will be bringing back Pilot Hunter mode for the PC, but in the meantime if you were hoping to get some CTF games going on, hopefully the changes Respawn made will result in a better experience.

Titanfall On Xbox One Is Top Selling Title

Titanfall On Xbox One Is Top Selling TitleYes, we have heard about how well the Xbox One has done in terms of its “sales” – actually, Microsoft revealed that 5 million Xbox Ones were shipped to retailers, so as to the total number of those shipped that ended up in the hands of actual gamers remain to be seen. Its arch rival, the Sony PS4, however, has sold 7 million units and counting. Nevertheless, we do know that having the right software will also help propel the sales of hardware, and Titanfall is one of such titles that has helped shift a number of Xbox One units recently, at least in the UK.

The folks over at Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts ought to be congratulated, as Titanfall for Xbox One is the number one selling game in March, at least this is what the NPD Group figures showed as released.

Also, I suppose with the introduction of Titanfall on the Xbox One, gamers happen to spend more time with their beloved console, where the NPD states that each fan spends on average, five hours per day on the Xbox One, with a collective total of over 1 billion hours of time spent in games and apps on the console. Have you given Titanfall a go yet, if you haven’t done so already? [Press Release]

Sony May Have Had a Chance at Titanfall

If you don’t own a gaming PC, an Xbox One or 360, you may be bummed out that you won’t get your hands on the game Titanfall from Respawn Entertainment. It’s definitely one of the coolest games that have hit those platforms in a long time. Now it sounds like Sony had a chance to get int on the Titanfall action before the exclusivity agreement was signed.

Respawn reportedly approached Sony about the game early on, and asked for specs on the PS4. Sony declined to offer any specs for the console saying it was not ready to talk about it. Had Sony coughed up those specs, the PS4 and PS3 might have been the exclusive place for the game – assuming the financial terms had worked out between Sony and Respawn of course.

Sony did reportedly offer to help Respawn build Titanfall for the PS Vita portable. Respawn obviously turned that offer down, opting for a launch on another next gen console instead. That was a good move; Titanfall is way too good to be offered only on Sony’s rather unpopular PS Vita portable.

Sony missed out on PS4 and PS Vita versions of Titanfall

We all know that the game Titanfall is an exclusive for the Xbox and PC. You can’t get the game on any Sony consoles now and may not ever be … Continue reading

Sony Originally Pitched The Idea Of Titanfall For The PS Vita

Sony Originally Pitched The Idea Of Titanfall For The PS VitaTitanfall is currently an exclusive to the Xbox platform as well as for the PC, meaning that if you wanted to play the game on other consoles like Nintendo or Sony’s platform, you’d be out of luck and you’d probably be better off waiting for the sequel which apparently will make its way onto more platforms.

However in the meantime it seems that at one point in time, Sony was actually pushing Respawn Entertainment for a PS Vita version of the game, but safe to say that never materialized, but why?

The story goes like this: Respawn had initially approached Sony before they signed an exclusive deal with Microsoft but since Sony wasn’t willing to divulge the specs of the PlayStation 4 at that time, Respawn did not know what to work with. However Sony did offer up the suggestion for a PS Vita version of the game and even offered to help make it.

It is unclear as to why Respawn turned down Sony’s offer to bring the game onto the PS Vita. Perhaps it was because they felt that the PS Vita was not powerful enough, at least not as powerful as they would have liked in order to maintain the experience of the game. As we can see in the final results, the game is beautiful and even the Xbox 360 proved to be a pretty good port, thanks to the folks at BluePoint Games who did an excellent job of porting it.

It’s also hard to imagine playing a game like Titanfall on a smaller display like the PS Vita, versus a larger screen like a television. While it’s not impossible, since we’ve seen FPS games make its way onto platforms like mobile devices, it probably just would not have been the same, but what do you guys think? Would you like to have seen a PS Vita version of Titalfall?

In the meantime if you’d like to learn more about some of what went on behind the scenes of the development of the game, you’ll want to check out Titanfall’s Final Hours app for the details.

Titanfall Producer Not Concerned Over Profits

Titanfall Producer Not Concerned Over ProfitsMost games made and sold are usually done to make a profit, especially if it’s a particularly famous franchise that they’re building off on. After all someone’s got to pay the bills and the developers right? Well it seems that not everyone is that interested in making a profit, and Titanfall’s producer, Drew McCoy, is one of them.

Speaking to the folks at GameSpot, McCoy basically stated that he does not care if the game is making a profit or not. “I don’t know if it’s making a profit, I don’t know if it’s meeting sales expectations. I don’t really care.” He states that this because at the end of the day it was about making a game that he enjoys playing, and that is the important thing.

“I care that I worked on a game that I can sit down and enjoy playing. The fact that people enjoy it and it has made enough that we [get to] continue supporting it as a studio, that’s to me a success. We make games because we love them and we want other people to play them with us.”

Naturally with FPS games on the console, it gets compared to more popular franchise such as Call of Duty and Battlefield, competition which he does not seem to be particularly interested in engaging in.  he also hopes that Titanfall is a game that will inspire others to make their own game rather than follow a formula, but then again with the success of franchises such as Call of Duty and Battlefield, who wouldn’t want to rely on the formula, especially if it could mean the same level of success, right?

“There’s been some really colossal failures… there’s been games that looked at what’s popular and go ‘oh, if we have this, people will buy our game.’ And then it just completely fails, because they missed the reason as to why that game was good and they didn’t try anything new.” But what do you guys think? Does Titanfall truly feel like a game that was designed to be played, or designed to rake in a healthy profit?

Ben Heck Creates Foot Pedals That Can Be Used To Play Titanfall With

There are a couple of ways that gamers can play Titanfall. If you’re on the PC, you have the mouse and keyboard as one option, while gamers on console can use the gamepad in order to play it. However what if there was another way to play the game, would that be something you’d like to explore as well?

Well that’s what celebrity modder Ben Heck did in the latest episode of The Ben Heck Show. Instead of creating a controller mod that can be used with your hands, Heck has created custom foot pedals that he can use to play the game with! The pedals plug into your computer via USB, with the left foot pedal used to grab objects, while the right pedal is used to make his character run.

Heck even states that the pedals can come in 2 stages of depression, with a partial press to activate certain functions, while a full depress of the pedal can be used to perform another action. You can think of this 2 stage like how camera shutter buttons work, where a half-press of the shutter button is used to focus on the subject, while the full press will capture the image.

The good news is that Heck will be giving away his custom made foot pedals to the element14 community, so if you don’t know how or where to go about building your own custom foot pedals for Titanfall or for other games, you now stand a chance to win Heck’s creation. In the meantime if you’d like to check out the video and see how he goes about modding it and seeing it in action, check it out in the video above.
