RC Pac-Man Racer Chasers brings the virtual chase to the real world

pacman-racer-chasersI know that with cosplay having gained immense popularity in the past few years, seeing video game and anime characters in real life poses are not all that special any more. What happens when you want to turn back the clock to an even older era – one with extremely basic graphics and just beeps and boops for audio? Re-enacting those in real life is a whole lot harder then, but it is not impossible as with the case of the $49.95 RC Pac-Man Racer Chasers.

This happens to be a three-dimensional, remote-controlled re-creation of one of the most classic chase sequences in arcade history, where it involves Pac-Man and Blinky the Ghost. You will need to players of course, where one will take command of the yellow pie chart with an ever hungry disposition, while Blinky the Ghost will be commanded by another. Sporting infrared remote controls that have a 25-foot range and control simple forward, back, left, and right maneuvers, it is ideal to chase one another, race against each other, or to just avoid one another as though you were playing a video game version of bumper cars. This Blinky is as fast as Pac-Man unlike in the game itself, and the entire shebang requires 10 AAA batteries to run, so using rechargeables come across as highly recommended.

The fact of the matter is, you’re probably never going to own a life-size flying Iron Man suit. And instead of sulking about it, you should be happy that this 19-inch tall remote control alternative is just seventy bucks, instead of seventy million.

3Doodler hands-on: 3D printing for the mass market

Kickstarter success 3Doodler proved there was a market for 3D printing without the geek requirement, but can crafting in the third-dimension really be as easy as wielding a hot nib? True, you won’t be creating any replacement machine parts, but with a $99.99 price tag that’s probably no surprise. We caught up with the $2.3m […]

Handheld Multiplication Slammer Game helps your kid with their math

I remember when I was a wee lad, and my parents wanted me to get a good grasp on my multiplication tables. The way they did it was rather unique – since my daily commute from home to school took approximately 40 minutes, I had to recite my multiplication tables all the way from 1 to 12. Needless to say, it was not too long before I managed to master my multiplication tables, but going through the process was not an easy one, especially when my brain was still in a stupor! It is during moments like those that I would have loved to own a $59.95 Handheld Multiplication Slammer Game to help me out.

The Handheld Multiplication Slammer Game happens to be a handheld game which challenges younger ones to answer multiplication questions, except that they will rely on vigorous slams of its nine answer buttons. It is perfect for one to experience self-directed practice either at home or at school, where there will be five games to help reinforce multiplication concepts including multiples, multiplication facts, factors, factor pairs, and sequencing. The factor problems will appear in a central display (for example, “_ x _ = 18″) while another button would start an elapsed time countdown to add to the tension level. All challenges will be accompanied by encouraging audio from the game’s speaker, and the entire shebang requires a trio of AA batteries to run.

Space Invaders Jenga brings new meaning to a blocky game

space-invaders-jengaWhen you were first introduced to the world of video games, did you start off with the old school classics like Pac-Man, Asteroids and Space Invaders? If you have answered in the affirmative, there is just this particular sense of urgency that surrounds the entire level, especially when the aliens are getting way too close to the ground base, and your defenses have worn thin while you find it real hard to take aim and get rid of the advancing forces – not to mention having the music speeding up to add tension to the situation. Another equally tense game, albeit a non-electronic one, Jenga, is also a blocky game – literally. What happens when you marry Space Invaders and Jenga together? Why, you end up with the $29.95 Space Invaders Jenga, of course!

The Space Invaders Jenga brings about an arcade twist to an old classic, where this Space Invaders-themed Jenga set delivers a second type of game play. Each time you remove a block, you also happen to make an attempt to move your Invader down the tower, allowing you to “kill” them puny humans. Each of these blocks will come with an assigned action that will need to be followed through, where some of them will help, while others hurt. The winner would be the one who successfully makes it to the bottom.

3Doodler – Drawing in 3D

Unknown-1

They say that art is good for the soul, and if that’s supposed to mean it’s good therapy, then I guess I’m on board. I don’t know how many times I’ve involved myself in painting, drawing, heck, even coloring, in order to calm myself, or simply as a distraction from some “less than stellar” life events. If you’d like to get your creative juices flowing, you might love this next gadget.

Check out the 3Doodler, a nifty, new artistic tool that let’s your imagination be your limit. The 3Doodler lets you create your designs in the air, where they magically transform into handheld art that you can put anywhere. By using melting ABS or PLA plastic the 3Doodler draws in the air, or on surfaces. It’s compact and easy to use. You simply plug it in, and as the plastic flows, you can start drawing almost anything.

The process works like this; as the 3Doodler draws, it extrudes this heated ABS or PLA plastic, which cools and quickly solidifies into a strong and relatively stable object. So if you’ve ever dreamed of having your drawings lift off the page and take their place on your bookshelf, this is the tool for you. As with anything else worth doing, there seems to be a bit of a learning curve, but with practice, you should be able to make some amazing creations. Check out the videos HERE.

We have reported on the 3Doodler before, when it was an especially noteworthy Kickstarter project, but now, refinements have been made, and with the addition of PLA, even more artistic applications can be discovered. The awesome 3Doodler pen is a reality, and if you’d like to have one, they are available for pre-order from 3Doodler.com for only 99 bucks.

Wipe Your Rear Windshield with a Cat’s Tail

Normally I silently wish a moving violation on anyone I see cruising the streets of my town with stickers of any sort on their car. I harbor particular ill will for anyone with stick-figure families adorning their vehicle. However, I have found an interesting sticker that I wouldn’t mind seeing on someone’s car over at ThinkGeek.

grumpy cat1

The sticker is officially called the Moving Tail Kitty Car Decal. The name does a very nice job of describing exactly what the sticker is all about. You actually get two cat sticker bodies with one smiling and another that looks rather like Grumpy Cat.

You place the body of the kitty around the rear windshield wiper of your vehicle. You then take another sticker that matches the kitty and apply it to the windshield wiper itself. The idea is when the windshield wiper is running it looks like the kitty is wagging its tail.

Like a cat would ever be caught performing such a menial task.

You can pick the sticker kit up at ThinkGeek for $12.99 (USD).
