ASUS Transformer Pad TF701T Android 4.3 Update Rolls Out November 18th

ASUS Transformer Pad TF701T Android 4.3 Update Rolls Out November 18th

Back in September ASUS unveiled its new Transformer Pad TF701T quadcore tablet. Powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 4 T40X quadcore processor and aided by 2GB of DDR3L RAM, the TF701T comes with a 10.1 inch WQXGA display with 2,560×1,600 pixel resolution. Towards the end of October, the tablet became available for purchase in the U.S. Though it runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, its going to receive a firmware update in the very near future. ASUS announced today that Android 4.3 for Transformer Pad TF701T is going to be rolled out on November 18th.

ASUS will roll out the update over-the-air, so be sure to tap that update button in the settings app a few times on November 18th. Apart from bringing the standard features that are included in Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, this update will improve battery life, dock battery charging as well as trackpad responsiveness in the dock. The dock has a QWERTY keyboard, secondary battery that increases battery life up to 17 hours and a USB 3.0 port. While the update isn’t exactly the latest release, Android 4.4 KitKat, it should only be a matter of time before ASUS brings KitKat goodness to the Transformer Pad TF701T. Perhaps that might happen in the first few months of 2014, though ASUS is yet to confirm the names of devices which be updated to the latest Android iteration.

Does Apple drive the tablet market, or ASUS?

This afternoon the folks at the IDC released quarterly worldwide shipment numbers for tablets, suggesting as they did so that a slump in the market this quarter may be due to Apple’s lack of a new iPad. And we got to thinking: it’s easy to relate the growth of the tablet industry over the past […]

How would you change ASUS’ Transformer Pad Infinity?

How would you change ASUS' Transformer Pad Infinity

ASUS’ Transformer Pad Infinity’s awkwardly timed announcement sent a fair few Transformer Prime buyers into fits of apoplexy — after all, it was just a few weeks after the Prime went on sale. Fortunately, the company didn’t release the Infinity for some time, but was it worth the wait? Our reviewer felt that its delayed journey to the market meant everyone else had a chance to get beyond it, meaning that the discounted Transformer Prime was enough for anyone who didn’t mind the odd GPS brownout. But what about if you bought one? Do you feel the same way? Settle down on the sofa and play armchair gadget designer for a moment, and tell us what you would change.

ASUS teases Jelly Bean update coming to Transformer Pad Prime and Infinity within 72 hours

ASUS teases Jelly Bean update coming to Transformer Pad Prime and Infinity 'soon'

Oh, ASUS. While it was so forthcoming with an update to Jelly Bean for the Transformer Pad TF300, it has been shy about upgrading the tablet’s higher-end cousins. The company must be coming out of its shell: it just posted a teaser for Jelly Bean updates coming to the Transformer Pad Prime TF201 (formerly the Eee Pad Transformer Prime) and the flagship Transformer Pad Infinity TF700. ASUS was initially hesitant to say more than that it would come “soon,” but Technical Marketing Manager Gary Key has stepped in to confirm that North America will get the update within a surprisingly quick 72 hours. The only glaring omission is a matching refresh for the original Eee Pad Transformer to give veteran owners a little TLC.

Sears offering free keyboard dock with every ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 purchase

One of the more defining features of the ASUS Transformer Pad (and its siblings) is its keyboard dock. This basically turns the tablet into a laptop-hybrid and helps with productivity, especially since we’re sure many of you guys can agree that typing out long documents on an on-screen keyboard is hardly ideal. Unfortunately the keyboard dock accessory is sold separately from the tablet and is usually priced at $150 which might put some people off. The good news is that from now until the 1st of September, Sears is offering customers an offer in which if they were to buy the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300, they will be able to get their hands on the keyboard dock accessory for free! Considering it wasn’t too long ago that the Transformer Pad got updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, $399.99 for a Jelly Bean-ready tablet with a free keyboard dock accessory worth $150 sure sounds like a pretty good deal. Pop on over to Sears’ website for the details.

ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

If you’re an owner of ASUS Transformer Pad TF300, you’re in luck as it seems that ASUS has begun rolling out the highly anticipated Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to your device. This was announced via ASUS’ Facebook page where they also stated that other Transformer Pad series of Android tablets can look forward to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates in the future as well. According to a comment left by ASUS, the update was pushed out yesterday which means that TF300 owners should be receiving notifications on their tablets that the update is ready for download. Of course we expect this rollout to be staggered over the course of the next few days/weeks, so fret not if you have yet to receive the update. In the meantime if you don’t own the TF300, be sure to stay tuned as we will keep you updated when ASUS begins the update for its other tablets as well. So TF300 owners, have you received the update yet, and how is it treating you?

ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 gets Jelly Bean update, TF700 looks at watch impatiently

Teasing your customers about forthcoming software updates isn’t very nice — unless you deliver on the very same day, of course. ASUS hinted, just this morning, that Jelly Bean might be on its way to some of its devices via the company’s Facebook page. Now, we’re getting reports from Transformer Pad TF300 owners that the update has landed. ASUS was even kind enough to beat its own estimate (for the TF300, at least) by a significant measure. Could this mean the TF700 update is on its way? Our advice? Keep mashing that “Check now” just to make sure.

    [Thanks, James, Godwill]
