Nissan ZEOD RC Fuel Engine Might Be Small, But It Has a Fierce Bite

The world of motorsports might look like a waste of money at first glance, but it is more often than not the place that gives birth to technologies which eventually make their way to production cars – which in turn, would also help save lives of humans. Take the likes of ABS for instance, how many accidents have been prevented because of the introduction of ABS? Having said that, Nissan intends to jump into the endurance race arena this season by introducing the extraordinarily efficient engine which can be found in the Nissan ZEOD race car. This engine could eventually end up as the basis for new developments in its production cars.

    tesla-model-s-sunset

There’s one major issue that all-electric car manufacturers have to deal with, range. Electric batteries might be developed to the point where they can offer milage similar to a full tank of gas, but the fact remains that finding gas stations is much easier than finding charging points for your car. Tesla’s Model S electric car is quite popular, and the company has made no secret of its intention of letting customers drive coast to coast without worrying about running out of juice. You can now drive Model S coast to coast, Tesla has expanded its network of “Superchargers” so much so that a drive from L.A. to New York is now totally possible.

Google Could Offer Free Rides The Next Time You Go Shopping

google-free-rideWho would have thought that a company which specializes in online search would have grown to such an extent over the years, so much so that they have their ‘tentacles’ in just about any and every situation? Google, the name that is synonymous with search and the very interesting Google Glass, is currently mulling over the possibility of arranging transportation for customers who actually want to pay a visit to its advertisers’ stores. Of course, there will be terms and conditions attached to this particular offer, since it would not make sense for everyone to be eligible. Google will take your personal information into consideration, including the place where you stay, your job, purchase history and others, before finalizing on the kind of ride that you will be hopping on.

Computer Troubles Send Metro-North Trains To A Grinding Halt

metro-north-railroadApparently, trains across all three lines of the Metro-North Railroad has stopped in their tracks this evening due to computer problems. It is a good thing that this has nothing to do with the holiday season rush, but any time that a public transport service in a huge city is not working is still going to create quite a mess. In fact, thousands of commuters were stranded because of this issue, according to transportation officials. These trains came to a grinding halt at approximately 7.45pm on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines because of safety concerns. If you were at the Grand Central Terminal, it was packed to the rafters with commuters waiting for trains that do not seem to be arriving anytime soon.

Honda Looks To Tech To Prevent Speeding Cars From Hitting Pedestrians

honda-ev-chargerHave you played the game Carmageddon before? If you have answered in the affirmative, how did you find that particular title pan out? It was not too tasteful actually in my opinion, and there are far better games out there to play with. Honda, the Japanese automobile manufacturer, has come up with the first automatic braking system in the world which is capable of ensuring that a fast traveling vehicle of up to 60kph will be able to stop so that it will not end up colliding with a pedestrian. I am quite sure that Honda themselves are not the only ones working on implementing such technology, as other badges are doing it, too.

Fords New Automated Driving Research Projects In The PipelineFord has worked out a new automated driving research project with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford University, where it will continue from where the automated Ford Fusion Hybrid research vehicle left off (which was also unveiled last month, actually), and the combined teams will work on solutions that will hopefully kiss goodbye to a number of technical challenges that have proven to difficult to solve where automated driving is concerned, until now.
