Tesla is one of the most popular manufacturers out there producing electric cars, despite the fact that its cars aren’t exactly cheap. The company already enjoys widespread presence in the U.S., with customers now being able to drive from coast to coast thanks to its Supercharger network. It currently has a modest footprint across the pond an Tesla plans to radically increase its presence in Europe by the end of this year. CEO Elon Musk says that the expansion will allow customers to travel “almost anywhere in Europe using only Superchargers.”

A couple of days ago, Apple announced CarPlay which was basically a rebranding of iOS in the Car which was revealed last year. Along with the announcement, Apple also revealed some of their partners that would be including the feature in their vehicles.

These companies included Ferrari, Volvo, and Mercedes-Benz, and are expected to be joined by other companies such as BMW, Ford, Kia, and so on at a later date. Oddly enough there appeared to be one car manufacturer missing from the list: Tesla. (more…)

Do you ever wonder just how important the four tires on your car or vehicle is? The amount of contact that it comes with on the asphalt is phenomenally small in comparison to the rest of the vehicle, and yet it would be all four tires that ensure you remain stuck on the road even when you are barreling down the freeway with your foot on the accelerator. Goodyear, a name that has been connected to tires for the longest time, unveiled its latest concept tire which was specially designed for SUVs at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show. The whole point of this particular tire was to improve SUV efficiency without having to sacrifice any kind of capability or performance. The result? A conceptual tire that sports a pair of distinct rings.

So yesterday Apple announced CarPlay, a feature in which iOS would basically be integrated into vehicles. Some of the car companies that would be part of the program included Ferrari, Mercedes, and Volvo, which would later be followed up by other companies such as BMW, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, and more.

Now interestingly enough it seems that some of the Apple’s partners will be sticking to CarPlay, Mercedes-Benz will not be using CarPlay exclusively. Instead Mercedes-Benz will also offer up Google’s own in-car infotainment system once the feature has been made available. This is according to a recent press release by Mercedes-Benz where they revealed their Android plans as well. (more…)
