Texting And Driving Results In Man Crashing Into Manure Truck

If you’re as much of a fan of the Back to the Future films as we are, you’ll know one of the most iconic scenes from all of the films was when Biff Tannen crashed his car into the back of a manure truck, resulting in a tidal wave of dung being emptied out into his vehicle. Up until today, we thought this could never, ever happen, but the power of the Internet has once again proved the impossible will always be possible. (more…)

These Gorgeous Black And White Photos Turn Truckstops Into Art

Sometimes it feels like the romance of the road is lost at truck stops. Those oases of diesel fuel and stale coffee seem too industrial, too pragmatic to fit into a Kerouac-style vision of road tripping. Photographer Michael Massaia lends some highbrow class to the truck stop with his series Seeing the Black Dog. Suddenly, those hulking 18-wheelers look gorgeous.

On the Road (and Off-Road) with the 2014 Toyota 4Runner

Recently, the fine folks at Toyota were kind enough to give me the opportunity to put their brand new 2014 4Runner SUV through its paces in rural Pennsylvania. I had the chance to drive several different models of the updated 4Runner, in a variety of driving conditions.

    2014 4runner 4

The updated 4Runner sports an aggressive new grill and body style which makes it stand out from the crowd, and drives home the fact that this SUV isn’t just meant for hauling groceries and kids around town.

The 4Runner is for active lifestyles, and can keep up with the best of them both on and off paved roads. Pictured above is the 4Runner Trail, which has the beefiest look of the bunch, but I also got to drive the 4Runner Limited, which has a more luxurious, urban look to it. There’s also a the base SR5 edition (not shown here).

    2014 4runner 1

Having driven both the Limited and the Trail editions, I have to say that I’m truly impressed with this vehicle. While it’s still built like a truck, with a body-on-frame construction, it manages to not feel like a truck when driving it. The Limited felt very luxurious and solid while hitting the open road, and had a car-like feel other than the fact that you’re higher up than normal.

    2014 4runner 3

On the other hand, taking one of the 4X4 models off-road, the 4Runner made quick work of mud-puddles, climbing huge logs and rocks, and conquering slippery uphill and downhill climbs. The Trail edition offers exceptional ground clearance, and its Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System helps the axles to move more nimbly over difficult and uneven surfaces. This model also benefits from CRAWL control, which helps drivers deal with acceleration and braking steep grades automatically, keeping their focus on steering.

    2014 4runner 5

All three versions, the SR5, Trail and Limited are powered by the same 270hp, 4.0L V6 found in last year’s model, and that’s a good thing. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, I say. The SR5 can be ordered in 4×2 or 4×4 configurations, while the Trail and Limited are only 4×4.

    2014 4runner 6

All models come with nice touches like projector headlights, LED taillights, front and rear mudguards, a backup camera, and Toyota’s Entune system. Though you’ll have to go for one of the Premium models if you want navigation. While the SR5 and Trail offer 17-inch wheels, the more urban Limited rides on 20′s. The Limited also offers the most refined interior, with leather-trimmed seats with both heating and ventilation for both driver and passenger. It also touts an upgraded JBL audio system,.

    2014 4runner 2

Overall, I’m very impressed with the 4Runner, and would be happy to park one of these in my own garage. For more information on the 2014 4Runner, check out Toyota’s website.

Doggy Food and Treat Trucks Popping up All Over the Place

Dogs are truly man’s best friend. They’re there for you through thick and thin, even during times when other human beings refuse to speak with you.

I know many dog owners who love their canine companions to bits, so it shouldn’t really come as a surprise that doggy food and treat trucks are opening all over cities.

    Gourmet Pet Food Truck

From the Sit ‘N Stay Pet Cafe in Orlando, Florida which offers “truly healthy gourmet treats” made from “human-grade, locally sourced, organic, natural and humanely raised/harvested ingredients” to  Fido to go, the “gourmutt” food truck that serves “hand-crafted, gluten and allergen-free canine cookies & doggy ice creams/frozen yogurts,” there’s a pet revolution going around in food trucks everywhere.

Ice cream for dogs is already being sold online and now you can get frozen treats for your pooches instantly if you’re in Elizabeth, New Jersey – if you happen to catch the Frosty Pooch ice cream truck, that is. Dog owners in Austin, Texas need not worry either, because they can get their dogs some frozen treats from Bow-Wow Chow.

Do you know of any other dog-centric food trucks and stalls around town? If you do, feel free to share them by commenting below!

2014 Ford F-150 Tremor provides full-size performance in a smaller package

Remember the Ford F-150 SVT Lightning? It was Ford‘s own take on a sport truck that was modeled after the company’s existing F-150. It featured a sportier look that included a modified body kit and it sat lower to the ground for a more aerodynamic design. That has since been long gone, but Ford is

Dodge Ram Man of Steel Truck: Still Not Faster Than a Speeding Bullet

There have been many commemorative cars made to signify the release of movies, but I have to say that it took me a second to realize that this truck had anything to do with Superman. It’s pretty obvious once you look at the front grille. And I guess because Clark Kent grew up on a farm, it kind of makes sense.

dodge ram superman man of steel

The Dodge Ram Man of Steel Truck is a one-of-a-kind wagon in a dark ceramic gray wrapper. It comes with a high-gloss black roof, anodized red grille accents, forged aluminum, satin-black 17-inch off road wheels because this truck is made to go where there are no roads. The whole thing was inspired by Superman’s suit.

Pewter leather seats, with custom mesh inserts, and anodized red accents on the inside continue the theme. There are Superman logos on the grille, tailgate, seats, and console. If you want to make this yours, you’ll have to keep an eye out for the upcoming auction later this year or simply customize your own truck.
