Twitter For Windows Phone Consuming Way More Data Than Usual

Twitter For Windows Phone Consuming Way More Data Than UsualHeads up Windows Phone users, if you’re using Twitter heavily on your Windows Phone device, you might want to delete the app or turn it off ASAP because according to reports, it seems that Twitter for Windows Phone is eating up way more data than expected. This is not a bug or a flaw on Microsoft’s part, but rather a change to Twitter’s backend which basically causes the app to frequently re-download profile images. In fact during tests performed to see just how much data is actually consumed, it was found that it was possible for users to hit up to 3GB of data in a week which may very well exceed the data caps of most users.

In order to fix this problem, or at least do their part to prevent Windows Phone users from going over their data cap, Microsoft has made a change to Twitter accounts where they will sync only once a day. This is hardly a permanent solution and we’re guessing that this will be up to Twitter to fix it on their side of things which Microsoft thinks should take a couple of weeks. In the meantime like we said, if you use Twitter on your Windows Phone device, you will either have to remove the app, unlike your Twitter account from your device, unless you are on an unlimited data plan which we guess won’t really matter. For those who aren’t, the steps mentioned above are advisable especially if you’re not a fan of bill shock!

Twitter IPO Price Range Reportedly Being Set Soon

Last month we reported that Twitter had filed a S-1 form with the SEC, revealing that it is planning to go public. Twitter’s IPO is one of the biggest tech related initial public offerings of this year. Rumors of the microblogging network going public escalated after Facebook conducted its IPO last year, raising $105 billion in the process. Though up till now, no one knows exactly what Twitter IPO price range is going to be. According to a new WSJ report, Twitter might decide on a price range for its offering in the next couple of days.

As per the report, Twitter may “price the deal” as early as November 6th. It seeks to raise $1 billion. The IPO date is not known as well, though it is believed that Twitter is seeking to go public by next month, presumably before Thanksgiving. Once the deal has been priced, Twitter can then start courting investors to put in their money in its shares. The company itself hasn’t dropped any hints about the price range or when we can expect its shares to be listed for trading in the open market. Twitter is the world’s second biggest social network with more than 200 million monthly active users, the money it ends up raising from the IPO will help it in expanding its operations.

Spoiler Shield Lets You Block Spoilers from Your Social Media Feeds

If you happen to have friends who can be big blabbermouths, then you need Spoiler Shield. It’s a social media browser app that also functions as a shield of sorts.

The app works easily with Facebook and Twitter. In order to start using it, you’ll have to log in and allow access to both social media accounts. Once you’re connected, you can then choose from a list of sports teams or TV programs, and the app will automatically look for relevant keywords and filter out any potential spoiler posts from your feed.

Nothing will be spoiled for you the next time someone posts a status update about your favorite TV show or NFL or MLB team. Spoiler Shield will block that status and keep you ignorant about whatever has happened until you get a chance to see it for yourself.

Spoiler Shield is available for free on the iOS. An Android app is currently in the works.
