Twitter allows direct messages from any follower

Since Twitter launched the only way for a follower to be able to directly message you was if you were also following them. Twitter has now unveiled a new option that makes it easier for followers to directly message you. The new setting has reportedly been rolling out over the last week. Users can now […]

Twitter Now Allows Any Follower To Send You A Direct Message

If you’re a regular user of Twitter, then you’re probably well aware the only way anyone can send you a direct message is if you happen to be following them as well. This leaves many private communications between Twitter users being made public if one user happens to not follow the other one. It looks like Twitter will be shaking things up a bit they’ll be giving its users the option to allow their followers to send them a direct message without needing to follow them back. (more…)

Twitter Now Lets Any Follower Send You Direct Messages If You Want

Twitter Now Lets Any Follower Send You Direct Messages If You Want

Twitter is changing the way direct messages work. In the past, Twitter required two people to follow each other for direct messages to be exchanged in either direction; now, users have the option to change settings so that any of their followers can send them a direct message, without having to follow them back.

NYCC organizer ReedPop spams attendee Twitter accounts

The radio frequency identification (RFID) tags embedded in ID badges for this year’s New York Comic Con were used to spam attendees’ Twitter accounts the moment they walked into the Javits Center. The spam took the form of overly enthusiastic tweets like “#NYCC is the Best Four Days of my Year!” and “So much pop […]

    Pownce Invite Extravaganza!

This article was written on July 16, 2007 by CyberNet.

PownceThere’s no need to buy a Pownce invite on eBay if you’re one of the first 16 people to leave a comment! That’s right, we have 16 Pownce invites to give away.

Now, if you’re scratching your head wondering what on earth Pownce is, in a sentence, you use it to send messages, files, links, and events to your friends. In a lot of ways, it reminds me of Twitter if you’re familiar with that.

For now they are only allowing a limited amount of people to join which is why the invites are selling on eBay (around $1–$3 each). Ryan and I originally got our invites from Chris over at Learn Firefox (Thanks Chris!) and now he volunteered to give his remaining four invites to our readers. Combine those four with the six that Ryan and I each have, and 16 of you will be playing with Pownce tonight.

Ryan and I both just got started so we need friends! Feel free to add us:

Be sure that you leave your email address in the “email field” of the comment section so that we can email the invite to you. If you don’t provide an address, we won’t be able to send it to you.

    Remember, only the first 16!

Note: As mentioned, Pownce reminds me a lot of Twitter in some ways. While we were trying out Pownce, we decided to jump on the Twitter bandwagon as well. If you’re on Twitter, add us!

Oh, and for those of you who have Pownce, what were your initial first impressions?

Twitter For Android-Powered Tablets Is Now A Reality

Twitter For Android Powered Tablets Is Now A RealityIt has been a long time in coming, but as the saying goes, better late than never. Twitter, the extremely popular microblogging service has announced that they will finally roll out a tablet-optimized app for Android over in the Google Play store, where in this particular app, it will arrive with its fair share of features – and to sweeten the deal, most of these will remain exclusive to Android users. Unfortunately, there is one issue to look out for – chances are you will be unable to obtain this particular app for your tablet at the moment, since we found out that Twitter will only be releasing the tablet-optimized app for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition right from the get go, before other Samsung tablets would be on the receiving end in due time.

Eventually, Twitter will roll out this app for other Android-powered tablets, but so far, there has been no concrete release dates just yet for these tablets. I suppose that means it is safer to purchase one of Samsung’s tablets at this point in time if you want to remain up to speed with what Twitter is offering for their tablet-optimized Android app. Oh yeah, it is said that the Twitter app for Android tablets will also feature its very own widget for your home screen, in addition to the ability to doodle over images you uploaded using Samsung’s S-Pen, apart from a multi-screen view that lets you view two apps simultaneously – including Twitter and Chrome. [Press Release]

Twitter for Android tablets appears limited to Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 (for now)

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition is currently the subject of a score on the part of Samsung with a deal with the developers responsible for Twitter, receiving the first big Android tablet-based update to the app as an exclusive. It’s unknown how long this particular update to the app will be limited to […]

Windows Phone 8 Vine App Leaked?

Windows Phone 8 Vine App Leaked? It was sometime earlier this week when there was an update released for the official Twitter app on the Windows Phone 8 platform, which brought along with it a bunch of features. It seems that we might have received more than what we bargained for, as it has been speculated that Twitter could very well have unveiled something extra that it wanted to keep under wraps originally – and we are referring to an official Vine video clip app for Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 OS.

In Twitter’s blog post, there was an image that pointed to a Vine Live title in the Windows Phone 8 render, and I suppose this “mistake” was discovered in the nick of time, since Twitter did take steps to rectify that by removing the image from the blog post, but the Internet has a memory now, with a quick search of Google’s web search cache pointing out to the existence of such an image. Not only that, a similar image has also made an appearance over on Windows Phone Store Twitter pages that are in other countries. I suppose this means that the official Vine app for Windows Phone 8 is ready to rock and roll, and all we need to do now is wait for an official announcement for things to move along officially.
