Tablet-optimized Twitter app leaks after IFA, works best on 10-inch screens

Tabletoptimized Twitter app leaks after IFA, works best on 10inch screens

If you blinked during Samsung’s Unpacked Episode 2 event at IFA last week, you may have missed it: the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 running a Twitter app redesigned for tablets. The brief peek teased a dual column, full screen miroblogging interface, but didn’t clue us in as to when the update would be live. Truth be told, that’s still a mystery, but that doesn’t mean you can’t upgrade anyway — AndroidNext has found the update’s APK. According to Android Police, the new interface is a little cramped on 7-inch displays, but seems to be fully functional. It seems to replace the existing Twitter app too, so an official update probably isn’t too far off. The impatient can find the file at the attached source link, assuming they’re willing to install manually.

Leaked Twitter App Optimized For Android Tablets

Leaked Twitter App Optimized For Android Tablets

The official Twitter app optimized for Android tablets has leaked out. At Samsung’s Unpacked event in Berlin, quite a few people spotted the new Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet running a tablet optimized version of the official Twitter app. It isn’t available to the public as yet, however the apk file has been leaked, which can be used by anyone willing to test the app out on their Android tablets. At first glance, one can notice that the app’s user interface is quite similar to the one that Twitter rolled out for its iPad app over a year ago.

While the apk is available online for anyone who wishes to try it out, the app might not offer a smooth user experience for Android tablets out there. However, it does confirm one thing though. Twitter may finally be seriously working on releasing an official client that is optimized for Android tablets. The Google Play Store may be filled with a great amount of apps, not a lot of them are optimized for Android tablets. Those who are willing to try out the app can download it from the source link below. Though keep in mind that its not an official release, Twitter hasn’t said as yet when it plans on officially releasing the app for Android tablets.

Twitter #Music for iOS now displays tweets on #NowPlaying feed, lets you interact with them

Twitter #Music for iOS now displays tweets on #NowPlaying feed, lets you interact with them

Hey, remember Twitter #Music? Yes, that Twitter #Music. Well, the jam-focused service is getting a little better on iOS thanks to the latest update. Today’s changes aren’t as major as the discovery features and additional languages the app gained last month, but #Music power users will most likely still appreciate the new features. To be more specific, the app squeezes some new features into the #NowPlaying feed, allowing you to favorite, retweet and reply to tracks shared by others. Best of all, now you won’t have to stop and switch between Twitter apps to share how you feel when someone’s listening to Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop.”

Topsy lets you search tweets from 2006, look up old cringeworthy posts

DNP Topsy now with tweets since 2006

Next time you’re feeling nostalgic and want to peruse old Twitter posts — such as in 2006, when Pluto was demoted to dwarf planet status — you might want to pay Topsy a visit. The social search engine, which could previously look for posts up until 2010, has expanded its archives to include tweets from as far back as Twitter’s birth in 2006. Simply input terms in the search box, and you’ll find their newest and oldest mentions on the site. Even better than that, you can use the site to read every single tweet a user has ever posted by querying “from:yourusername,” making it easy to look for the first time you tweeted about Lady Gaga’s wardrobe. Before you run off and facepalm at your old tweets, though, check out @engadget’s first one by Ryan Block after the cut.

Topsy literally makes Twitter history, gathers every Tweet ever made

Twitter has become serious business, and official partner Topsy’s business is to take it very seriously. Topsy Is A Search Engine For Tweets

Topsy Is A Search Engine For Tweets

Ever wanted to search for tweets about a particular day or event that happened in the past? Twitter doesn’t exactly offer a tool to do that. Its search function is tweaked to put up fresh and most recent tweets about a particular topic. One can scroll down to view all results, but if what you’re searching for happened a few years ago, that can become a titanic task. There’s a new solution though. Social analytics firm Topsy has launched a search engine for tweets. Topsy claims that it has indexed 425 billion tweets, which basically means that you’ll be able to search every single tweet posted to Twitter ever since it launched back in 2006.

Searching for tweets is quite easy. Simply enter your query and Topsy will display relevant results which can be adjusted by date, time and languages. Photos and videos can be differentiated as well. The tool will be particularly help for those who’re trying to do some research and are trying to gauge views posted on Twitter in the past, for example, one could see what people thought of the presidential race back in 2008, or one could even go back in time to find out who started a particular trend. Topsy offers the service for free.

Topsy, Twitter’s Google, Now Searches Every Tweet Ever Sent

Topsy, Twitter's Google, Now Searches Every Tweet Ever Sent

Twitter’s been around since 2006. If it was a kid, Twitter would be in 2nd grade, and totally grounded for having such a potty mouth. But trying to search through old tweets is a major frustration, because Twitter’s built-in search function favors messages it thinks are newest and most relevant. Topsy changes all that, with a robust search setup that, as of today, has indexed every tweet ever tweeted.

Twitter Beta Test App On Android

Twitter Beta Test App On AndroidTwitter does seem as though they are about to take advantage of Google’s new system when it comes to beta testing apps, offering a new version of the social media app to those who are willing to give this app a go. If you happen to have this gung-ho attitude and love stepping out into the (relative) unknown, then you will first need to join a Google Group via your Google+ account, before choosing to voluntarily become a tester. Upon doing so, you will find the new version of the app being delivered to you via the Google Play store.

To date, it seems that both Snapchat and Facebook happened to be high-profile users of Google’s beta testing system, where they used it to gain user feedback in order to further refine and enhance their mobile apps. Right now, it is not possible to run the existing, stable version of the Twitter app in addition to the beta version, so it is a decision that you will have to make for yourself. If you want to be a beta tester, be prepared to go through a variety of known and of course, unknown bugs and glitches. Hey, there is a price to pay for everything, and at least you get to brag to your mates if all goes well.
