73 Million Assassin’s Creed Titles Sold To Date, According To Ubisoft

73 Million Assassins Creed Titles Sold To Date, According To UbisoftWe know that Ubisoft has plans on releasing a new Assassin’s Creed game every year and they’re not shy about it, despite some worrying that the annual releases could somehow dilute the franchise. On one hand that is true, but on the other we’re sure that gamers out there who are fans would love to see new content added every now and then, right?

Well perhaps Ubisoft’s strategy might be paying off for them because according to the recent figures, it seems that Assassin’s Creed could be Ubisoft’s best selling franchise to date. The numbers were recently released on Ubisoft’s website and revealed that the company had managed to sell about 73 million copies of the game to date, making it their best selling franchise in the world.

Ubisoft launched Assassin’s Creed back in 2007 where it debuted on the Sony PS3, the Xbox 360, and the PC. They went on to release multiple versions of the game where there were separate Assassin’s Creed titles made for mobile as well. In 2014 there are talks that not only could Ubisoft be releasing a new Assassin’s Cree game (Unity, which has since been confirmed), but two Assassin’s Creed game.

While Assassin’s Creed: Unity is designed for the latest consoles, the latter, codenamed Comet, is said to be designed for previous-gen consoles in mind. Unity is expected to see a release later this year and we can’t wait to see how the game will affect Ubisoft’s numbers.

Ubisoft And musterbrand Team Up For Watch Dogs Apparel And Accessories

Ubisoft And musterbrand Team Up For Watch Dogs Apparel And AccessoriesAre you looking forward to getting your hands on Watch Dogs? The game has been pegged for a 27th of May release and while it hasn’t been released, many gamers are definitely looking forward to it thanks to demonstrations that Ubisoft made when they revealed it at E3 a couple of years ago.

The game definitely has a pretty unique gameplay and while we’re not sure how well-received it will be, safe to say that there will be some gamers who might eventually plan on cosplaying as the game’s protagonist, Aiden Pearce, or maybe even want to dress like him and follow his fashion style.

Well the good news is that you won’t have to go about finding materials for the look because Ubisoft has recently teamed up with fashion label, musterbrand, to release a bunch of apparel and accessories related to the upcoming game. The company will be selling The Vigilante, which is the entire look of Aiden Pearce, for about $400.

This includes the coat for $200, a white knit jacket for $100, the scarf for $34, and the cap for $34 as well. Other accessories sold includes Watch Dogs-branded bags and tablet sleeves. We can’t attest to the quality of the clothes and if they can be worn for daily use or if they’re simply meant for cosplaying/costumes, but if you’re interested in checking it out and maybe grab yourself a jacket or two, hit up musterbrand’s website for the details.

Ubisoft Reiterates Their Commitment To Annual Assassin’s Creed Releases

Ubisoft Reiterates Their Commitment To Annual Assassins Creed ReleasesIn the past Ubisoft has stated that they plan on releasing a new Assassin’s Creed game on an annual basis, at least until gamers get bored of it. Some have questioned this strategy as they feel like it could dilute the franchise, but Ubisoft has stuck to their guns and has recently made a statement reiterating their commitment to annual Assassin’s Creed releases.

Speaking to Edge, Ubisoft’s VP of creative, Lion Raynaud, was quoted as saying that it would be stupid not to release a new Assassin’s Creed game every year. “We are able to offer people a new Assassin’s Creed every year because they want Assassin’s Creed every year. As long as this is true we would be very stupid to not satisfy this need, but it puts a lot of pressure on us to create something that will never disappoint.” (more…)
