Assassin’s Creed: Pirates Brings Naval Warfare To Mobile Devices

We caught a leaked promotional image for some games Ubisoft was preparing to announce prior to the official start of this year’s Tokyo Game Show. The leak ousted Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation HD and Assassin’s Creed: Pirates. We learned about Liberation HD just a moment ago, and we’re now learning what exactly Assassin’s Creed: Pirates is all about. (more…)

Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation HD Announced With Trailer

Yesterday we reported that thanks to a leak and a broken embargo, Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation HD was revealed, although now the official details have since been announced. The game is expected to make its way onto the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3, and the PC come early 2014. The game was originally designed exclusively for the PlayStation Vita and was unveiled during Sony’s press event at E3 2012, but for those looking to take their adventure on a bigger screen and different platform, Liberation HD will be the game you want.

The game will feature 15 new missions and has had its graphics redone to make it more in line with Assassin’s Creed 3. Some puzzles have been removed as they were originally designed for the touchscreen, and gamers can look forward to a remastered soundtrack as well. No specific release dates or pricing of the game were mentioned, but hopefully more details about its upcoming release will be revealed at a later date, but for now if you’re wondering what you will be able to look forward to, spare a couple of minutes and check out the trailer in the video above.

Ubisoft Leak Shows Off Assassin’s Creed: Pirates, Liberation HD And Other Games

Ubisoft Leak Shows Off Assassins Creed: Pirates, Liberation HD And Other GamesThere is nothing quite like a leak to get the imagination going, and a Japanese forum poster has recently put up an image which is claimed to be an alleged marketing image from Ubisoft. This marketing image would have everything to do with the upcoming Digital Days event, where part of the image will see some logos that should make an appearance at the event, including unannounced titles such as Assassin’s Creed: Pirates, Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation HD, Rabbids: Big Bang and Valiant Hears: The Great War.

If this particular leaked promotional image is 100% true when the event comes to pass, then it would be nice to hear that Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation is in line for an HD update. As to whether this HD update is in line for the Sony PS3 or the upcoming Sony PS4, that remains to be seen. As for Assassin’s Creed: Pirates itself, it might be a chameleon at the moment unless new information is revealed, since you could find it to be a DLC or a Vita spin-off, and we are also not ruling out the possibility of it being an insider name for Black Flag. As usual, this is one rumor that will either be confirmed or debunked by the time the event comes to pass.

Rayman Legends Launch Trailer Shows Off New Environments, Accolades

Rayman Legends is set to be released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, PC and PS Vita on September 3, which is officially one week from today. It’s been an exceptionally long wait for Wii U owners considering the game was originally expected to be released in February, but as a result, 30 new levels and additional boss battles were added. Since we’re so close to the launch of Rayman Legends, Ubisoft put together a launch trailer which highlights a number of the game’s environments as well as accolades the game has already received from notable publications.

If you have yet to go out and pre-order Rayman Legends, hopefully its launch trailer will help entice you to pick up the game on your platform of choice. I’ve been playing it for the past couple of days and I can tell you it’s a game I know you won’t regret playing if you’re a fan of side-scrolling platformers. There are tons of levels to play through, high scores to achieve, and content to unlock. The challenges will also keep you busy for quite some time as there are daily, weekly and monthly challenges where you can compete against your friends or others around the world to achieve the very best score possible.

Ubisoft isn’t afraid of mobile gaming, sees a bright future in Wii U and Oculus Rift

    Ubisoft's Alain Corre

Ubisoft’s Alain Corre isn’t worried about the rise in mobile gaming. On the contrary, Corre, who heads up the company’s overseas operations, seems to welcome the uptick in iOS and Android gamers and not resignedly, either. “What we like in mobile gaming is that it’s bringing a lot of new people to games,” he told us. “Which for us is very good because it’s a teaching thing and… at one point, some of them will feel a bit limited with the scope of mobile games and they’ll want to experience something different in gaming.” Whether it’s the limitations of the casual genre or outright boredom, Corre’s confident a chunk of these new gaming converts will seek out home console or PC experiences. Something more along the lines of a Watch Dogs or Assassin’s Creed, perhaps. And with the advent of the next-gen, the timing for this gaming initiation couldn’t be better for Ubisoft.
