Last but not least, Sony will be closing out our first day of E3 2013 press conferences at 9PM ET, and you can tune in several different ways. Sony kicked of NAB 2013 with some closer-to-mainstream-than-expected 4K pricing announcements, so that’s where we’ll begin. Is it time to consider buying an Ultra HDTV, and is it worth even thinking about at the 65- and 55-inch sizes? Say goodbye to the passé virtual aquarium. Animal Planet has launched a collection of 11 HD 24/7 Ustream-powered live streams under the banner Animal Planet L!VE, which feature animals ranging from beluga whales to cockroaches. The free critter footage is already being piped to APL.tv and Samsung Smart TVs Viewers can choose between watching ants, calves, chicks, cockroaches, beluga whales, fish swimming about in a pacific coral reef, kittens, penguins, puppies, sea nettles and wild birds. In case catching them on your smart TV or browser weren’t enough, the cable channel’s creature casts are coming to Roku and Xbox Live “in the coming months.”

Panasonic is releasing a hands-free wearable compact camera “HX-A100″ on May 1.

The camera part and body part are 2 separate units. The camera is a light 30g and by using the attached ear hook you can take handsfree movies or photos from the direction of your eyes. The body part can be attached to your arm using the armband case.

Only a few hundred people were allowed inside of the Hammerstein last week during Sony’s PlayStation 4 unveiling, which means if you wanted to hear first-hand news, you probably watched the livestream provided by Ustream. The stream didn’t go without a few hitches as we experienced the audio going in and out from time to time, but overall, it was an acceptable experience. But just how many people tuned into Sony’s big PlayStation 4 reveal?
According to Ustream’s CEO Brad Hunstable who spoke to Engadget, the live-streaming video service counted around eight million people tuning into Sony’s PlayStation 4 event, with one million concurrent views at its peak. During the two hour event, the average viewer stuck around for one hour, which is three times as long as the normal Ustream viewer only sticks around a live stream for 20 minutes. (more…)
